2.5/5 - As some others have noted, Harris was clearly a knowledgeable man, but not a great writer... The arguments are often choppy, out of order, and digress into tangents. I also found his polemics to be quite distracting at times (why does the Vietnam War show up in a book about the formation of the Bible?) I took extensive notes on this book, as it was part of my year-long study into the Bible and how it was constructed, but truthfully those notes might be of more use to anyone interested in giving this a read than the actual book is. I don't mean to detract too much from it, but I feel this warning is worth giving if anyone, like me, would prefer a resource that is a bit more streamlined and well-written.
This was a dense and dry read that I admittedly skimmed at certain times. Parts of it were really fascinating to me though! And I am glad to be more informed re: the canonicity of the Bible.
