Born in Japan to an English mother and Japanese father, Emmy was brought up with two conflicting cultures. From a young age she rebelled against conforming to society's rules, as a young girl in Japan she was stifled by the expectations and behaviours of those around her, until her mother decided to move back to England with her and her sisters.

She flourished at school particularly in English and Art and always enjoyed using her imagination. She could often be found sitting on the side of the playground, engrossed in a book while her counterparts played.

After finishing school she decided to study fashion at university and while studying started working at Stringfellows in London. Soon after graduating she moved to Australia where she worked as a dancer and did various sales jobs.

After two years of frivolity and living a life of excess she decided to move back home and eventually had her son.

It was while her son slept that she wrote her first novel Corrupted; a suspense novel inspired from her experiences as an exotic dancer.

Emmy now lives in Sussex in England with her son and is currently writing her next novel, which promises to be just as thrilling as the first.

I am thrilled to report another fantastic read! This novel was a perfect blend of suspense, steamy sex, erotic nightclubs and a strong female lead. Ria Kimura was beautiful and a strong lead. Her family, especially her mom were the perfect sub plot characters. There was of course her job as a stripper which lends the backdrop. She had a wild group of friends. The author shows a side to strippers that releases the stigma behind them. It is a job! The author did a great job with the entire scenario.

So the story is all about this mysterious, handsome millionaire Brad Harrison. He walks into the club politely sweeps Ria off her feet and before you know it she is in Australia. It turns bad faster that you realize it! I think Ria's dad passing away and her sister being happily married has a lot to do with the quick move. She figure she can get a job in the fashion industry with her degree and live with Brad happily. He turns into a monster. His parents are powerful and when Ria meets them, they make her feel like a fool. Brad's mom makes a mockery of her education and insinuates fashion is no place for her. I felt so super bad for her at that moment.

I suggest this to my erotic thriller lovers. What a fantastic juicy read! There is a very scandalous tale that awaits you.

Corrupted is a journey full of twists and turns that will have you addicted and begging for more.

This book is amazing!!

When I first started reading this book I thought it would be just another chick-lit, however it was nothing like that. This book was fast paced and had me addicted from the very first page.

The main character is a young woman called Ria. She is a stripper in a club in London, she works there simply for the money until she finds a job in fashion and it is at this club where she meets the millionaire Brad Harrison. Brad is a handsome, tanned, 6ft 2 Aussie and Ria and Brad quickly fall in love. However when they move to Sydney their relationship quickly changes into dangerous waters. I do not want to say anymore of the plot as I do not wish to spoil it for anyone.

Although this book was not what I was expecting I loved it!! I loved all the characters and adored all the detail about sunny Australia.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes chick-lit, erotic fiction or mysteries. It is a perfect summer read!!

Brilliant book & highly recommended! Corrupted is a fascinating gritty story full of twists & turns and believable characters, I couldn't put it down once I had started reading. Ria was such an interesting character to read about. For a debut novel, I think this book is brilliantly written and I look forward to reading more books by Emmy Yoshida. I passed this book onto friends to read who also loved it.

I received a signed copy of this book from a Goodreads giveaway. Thank you.

If I had the chance to unread this book and take those hours back, I wouldn't think twice. Not only the writing style sucks more than a money-driven drool-dripping prostitute with platinum hair extensions, but the book itself is an A to Z almanac of clichés and stereotypes. The author, herself a former exotic dancer, describes the book as a combination of memoir and fiction. Well, the only thing left for me is to hope that she's stripping better than writing.

Subtitled “A Tale of Sex, Scandal and Suspense” Corrupted by Emmy Yoshida (@EmmyYoshida) tells the story of Ria, a fun-loving English girl who finds herself in a whole lot of trouble on the other end of the world from the high-class London strip club where she works to pay her way through college.

Working one night she meets a handsome, charming Australian businessman who happens to be worth millions, and they experience an instant and mutual attraction. In short order he convinces her to move Down Under with him, where she finds out he isn’t the charming Prince she thought he was.

After my last read, a history of the Algerian War of Independence, I was in the mood for something decidedly lighter and I found Corrupted to be a quick and fun read, with a few twists I didn’t expect including the ending. This isn’t a genre I have read much of, but — and I hope I don’t offend anyone — I would say if you like Lifetime channel movies you will enjoy this story. That isn’t meant as a putdown, merely a comparison by someone who, frankly, hasn’t watched many Lifetime movies.

The author has herself been an exotic dancer, and on her website she writes Corrupted is “…a mixture of memoir and fiction, many of the scenes in it are based upon her own experiences as a dancer.” No doubt one of those experiences must have been a pervasive and stereotypically negative view of her job choice, which the author deftly defuses on her blog and in the novel (short answer: No, strippers aren’t prostitutes).

The first thing that attracted me to this book was the cover, it looks so glam. The second thing was after reading Emmy’s blog, she seemed like such a lovely person, providing tips and help to other self publishing authors. The third thing was the blurb. Fantastic! I read the first few chapters, and was hooked, I wanted to know what happened. The main character was so likeable and relatable, I even had to ask Emmy if much of it was non fiction. Her characters are described in depth, from their thoughts and mannerisms. The narrative voice was brilliant (told in the first person for the main chracter, and third person for the other characters.) I thought that I would find the switching of voices, and the amount of characters confusing however it never was. Emmy is skilled at giving all of her characters a unique individual personality. Her writing style is great and very descriptive. The ending was unexpected, (I won’t spoil it) however, I’m off to message Emmy for some more info. Great entertaining read.

Corrupted: A Tale of Sex Scandal & Suspense is a dramatic novel with a blend of sex, scandal and suspense. The main character, Ria Kimura was a wild girl with a reckless attitude. She started to be an exotic dancer in London. Later she followed a handsome Australian millionaire to the other side of the world wanting to get away from her old life and to start a glamorous new existence.

Her dream quickly turned into a nightmare when the millionaire became possessive and violent and she soon found out that she is all alone fighting for her life.

This book is very well written. The events are realistic with unexpected twists and turns. Some might argued that Ria could have choosen another way out of her dilemma.

I received a signed copy of this book from a Goodreads giveaway but only just got to finish the book. Thank you.

Romance, drama, intrigue… This book has it all!

This book took me on a journey through some of my own memories. I sort of related to Ria, yet I was never that carefree, only wished to be. But this story has it all. While reading Corrupted I experienced flashes of memory of some of the men I’ve been exposed to in my life - though certainly none were as violent as Brad. For those who know what it is like to feel like a caged animal, and love the feeling of triumph, this book is for you. Bravo, Emmy Yoshida!

Emmy Yoshida's sizzling debut novel had me hooked from beginning to end. Well written, with highly interesting (and slightly unorthodox!) characters, and full of unexpected twists and turns, this is a highly enjoyable (and very steamy) read. Looking forward to reading more from this very talented author.

All in all it was an ok read. There was too much happening in the plot to make any of it really believable.
The characters were all very stereotypical and the author has really tried to hard with the Australian slang.
I finished it as i wanted to see what happened, but i wouldnt exactly call it gripping!

Ok. I'm not sure how to rate this. The writing wasn't bad and neither was the story, it just wasn't for me. It's not really my kind of thing, I like a happy ending where people end up living HEA so I can't give it less than 3 stars as this is my problem not the books!
