Dark Spirits

Rate this book
Now immortal, Paige is emotionally and physically stronger than ever. She must find the location of the ancient incantations to prevent mass genocide. But the war against good and evil is spawning another war–a battle between the dark spirits themselves. Paige is saddled in the center of both growing revolutions and is ready to take on the dark forces. But Nathan’s overprotectiveness prevents her from taking action, and he’s hiding things.

Paige’s personal life gets more complicated when Brayden arrives back in town and offers the equal partnership she desperately craves from Nathan. Then there’s Carrie and Tree, her two best friends and only family she has left. Unfortunate circumstances thrust them into Paige’s dark world, giving her no choice but to allow Nathan to arm them with combat techniques in hope they’ll be able to protect themselves.

Meanwhile, Paige is having visions and discovering abilities she was unaware of. When Anwar comes to visit, his weird behavior alarms her. Could he be turning to the dark side?

Time is running out. Paige not only needs to find the incantations but also to untangle the bands around her heart and make a decision that could leave her with a life worse than death–a life of betrayal from the ones she trusted most.

Dark Spirits was a thrilling read that kept me coming back for more! I rushed through all my responsibilities so I could get back to find out what happens next. I thought Beyond the Eyes was a great read, but this one was even better.
Paige and Nathan make a wonderfully romantic and relatable couple. In the first book, we see them fall in love. In this one, we see them really start to know each other on a deeper level and they’re finding what makes the other tick. I think author Rebekkah Ford did a wonderful job in developing these two; romantically and their personalities.
Carrie and Tree are great sidekicks for Paige. I love the depth of their friendship and how protective they all are of the others. I can’t wait to see what happens with them in the next book. I have a feeling they will be coming along for the adventure that’s set up at the end of the novel.
We briefly meet Brayden in book one, a brief meeting no one seemed to enjoy but him. He appears a lot in Dark Sprits. Paige seems to trust him, but I know I don’t. I’m very curious about who he really is and can’t wait to find out!
This book was amazing. I read an ARC and I’m soooo glad the author let me. It was wonderful and I definitely will be following for the next in the series.

I was so excited to read the second book in the Beyond the Eyes series! Dark Spirits starts off shortly after Beyond the Eyes ends. I was a little sad that we didn't get to follow Paige through her training, but it was nice reading about her daydreaming about little moments that she shared with Nathan.

I think my favorite thing about this book is all of the plot twists! I love the secrets that were brought to light, answering questions left in the last book; but, I love that in answering those questions even more arose.

Paige has grown a lot in this series already and has a ways to go, but I love that she is finally becoming more independent. She isn't letting anyone push her around anymore. She needs answers and she is bound and determined to get them.

I find her twist on a regular paranormal genre refreshing. She makes her own rules and forms a world all her own.

I cannot wait to see what is next for this group of wonderful and eclectic characters!!

I was so excited to be back in Paige’s world, and Dark Spirits did not disappoint.
Paige is still coming to terms with the powers inside her and the realization that Nathan may not be as trust worthy as she once thought.
This story is a little darker than Beyond the Eyes, but even more enjoyable. I loved the mystery and suspense and couldn’t stop turning the pages.

***I received a free copy in exchange for a book review***

I loved this 30 chapter book. It was told through Paige’s first person point-of-view as well as Nathan’s first person point-of-view. They rotated chapters. I liked that the same characters from the first novel in the series were included in this one too. The author had a brilliant talent with characterization. Everyone, including the supporting characters, had an important role in the novel, and they weren’t one dimensional. The villains had some positive, interesting qualities while some of the heroes had some don’t-mess-with-me-or-you’ll-wish-you-were-dead qualities. It was very cool that even though Brayden, Nathan, Carrie, and Tree were on the same page of keeping Paige safe, they butted heads because of the conflicting reasons. Even the villains (especially Aosoth) wanted the same goal, but couldn’t work together.

I like Paige and Nathan together, but there’s something about Brayden (her ex) that I can’t help keep rooting for. Maybe it’s because in love triangles, I always pick the underdog to win. My favorite scenes included Nathan and Brayden’s fights and arguments. I love tension and drama.

My favorite lines: 1) I didn’t spend my whole summer training with Anwar and him on a deserted island in the Baltic Sea to stand here and do nothing. 2) I hated all this: the mystery of myself. 3) “You know what scares me?” Nathan asked, breaking the brief silence. I looked up to a sad smile on his face. “You think I’m a monster.” 4) What in the hell did he mean by that? My mind searched for an answer to that question, and when two correlating things popped into my head (the Ouija board she played with when she was dating Matt who was really the “old one” and the salt in front of the door), I gasped.

Some questions raised in the first book was answered in Dark Spirits. I liked knowing who was responsible for killing Paige’s family, the side effects for a dark spirit possessing Carrie’s body for a little while, and Anwar’s motives. There were many twists and turns throughout the story that kept it interesting, a page-turner for me. It seemed like everyone, except Carrie and Tree, were being manipulative and calculating to end Paige and Nathan’s relationship. Can they make it? You’ll have to read to find out.

Rebekkah Ford was also great with setting. She described things in a way that I could see, hear, smell, and touch everything in the novel, especially when she mentioned the outdoors. Her imagery was beautiful without being purple prose.

I RECOMMEND this book to read.

Dark Spirits is a very entertaining book that pulled me in from the beginning. Ford's characters are well-developed with engaging and very human flaws. (Perfect people are boring.) The story flows smoothly and is action-packed, with bits of steamy romance and lots of intrigue, making this an excellent weekend read.

This second installment in the Beyond the Eyes series picks up several months after Paige has become immortal. In that brief time, she's begun to sharpen some of her spiritual powers and is becoming accustomed to the perks of immortality and exploring her relationship with Nathan. As new powers emerge, so do new threats, and she begins to question the loyalty of her friends, and even Nathan. Does he love her? She's quite confident that he does, but also worried that his love is a bit too possessive and protective and she doesn't want to be coddled and protected when there's so much at stake.

We also see things from Nathan's perspective. He has his reasons for keeping Paige cloistered and isolated, but can he protect her and still protect humanity? And if he can't do both, which will he choose?

All in all, Dark Spirits is a fun, spooky ride and I'm looking forward to the next in the series.

Dark Spirits is another great book by Rebekka Ford. I fell in love with the first book Beyond the eyes. Dark Spirits had me on the edge of my seat. It was full of suspense and mystery through out the book.. I was hooked from the very first page. Page is still coming to terms with her new powers and she has a love triangle she has to deal with. The Author did a great job getting you to fall in love with the characters. Pick up the book today. You won't be disappointed.

* I WAS GIVEN THIS BOOK BY THE PUBLISHER, IN RETURN FOR AN HONEST REVIEW *

THIS REVIEW MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS.

Sadly, Paige is really childish in this one. It’s this whole Brayden thing. It’s really getting on my last nerve, because she’s totally blind to how bad he is for her and how good Nathan is for her. Brayden is – let’s be frank – a groper with an attitude and a total God complex. What about that is attractive? I’m sorry, but any guy who did to me what he did to Paige would not be getting forgiven. He’d be getting a 10×4 in the face. No matter how much history there was between them.

**WARNING**

And sadly, though I love these books, I think it sends a bad message to teens that being groped is acceptable as long as it’s by a once friend or ex. That’s soooo not true! (Please note: this is my only real issue with this book and Paige does see the light of day eventually.)

And I’m very sorry, but this will not be the end of my rant about new bitchy Paige and makes-my-skin-crawl Brayden. Not by far. I think Brayden is a real ass…and I’m never going to change my mind. I am Team Nathan all the way, though I will make room to also be Team Tree, because he’s awesome.

The thing that bugs me most about Paige in this book is the selfish, bitchy whining that is never ending…Gosh, I feel like giving her a slap and saying ‘Are you done yet?’. She keeps telling herself that she’s not cheating on Nathan by spending time with Brayden, well newsflash honey! You are! Emotional intimacy is as much cheating as physical intimacy. Sex is not the only way to cheat on someone. She’s turning into a real selfish cow, creating chaos and drama out of nothing, for no reason. And not to mention giving Nathan the headache of his extra long life. I mean, the guy gave her immortality. He’s trying to keep her alive in a world she doesn’t know or understand AND find out who killed her father on the side and she’s just being an ungrateful twat thinking only of herself. WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE PAIGE! The world does not revolve around you. Nathan’s world does!

If I were a character in this book, AKA Carrie, I’d be having a private chat with Nathan and telling him to take his immortal ass elsewhere to find a decent girlfriend who won’t ‘nearly cheat’ on him behind his back or make his life a living hell full of prissy, teenage drama.

Saying that, I love the book. If I didn’t, I’d have nothing to say. Lol. The story is just as great, just as intriguing and I’m really bugging about finding out what ‘the old one’ really wants from Paige. So far he’s a bit of a creepy older guy with an infatuation, stalker type of vibe. I know that Carrie and Tree are going to get dragged into the whole mess, whether Paige wants them to or not. It’s inevitable.

So after getting to the halfway mark I have an announcement: Paige has made a miraculous recovery from ‘I-need-a-bitch-slap’ syndrome! WooHoo! Thank the Lord!

Oh…wait…no… Nope. Two pages later, what’s happened? She’s had a relapse. In fact, she relapses continually throughout the rest of the story. Shame. It must be one of those recurring diseases. Paige the bratty cow is back again, gone again, back again, gone again. Just an ordinary teenage girl then, right? Lol. (As you can tell, this book is bringing out my own bitchy phase. Warning! It may be permanent.)

And all the while Nathan suffers her without complain. Since you can probably tell I’m a little in love with Nathan myself (read: massively) I really love the chapters where we get to see his Point Of View. Especially when it comes to Brayden. ;)

**SPOILER**

I really wish Nathan would have thrown him out the house. That would have been EPIC!**

**SPOILER OVER**

To be perfectly honest, I think this book blew Book 1 out of the water, and you know how much I enjoyed that one. Being continually frustrated with Paige and always in love with Nathan was a really great piece of craftsmanship. Yes, I had a moment of exasperation with Nathan being over-protective (a really, really tiny moment), but unlike Paige, I gave him the benefit of the doubt and he always proved that my loyalty was well placed.

As I’ve said before, again and again and again, I will never, ever take to Brayden. The stuff he’s done to hurt Paige, not one, but many times is beyond beyond. There is no way I can ever put into words how much I want to give Paige a shake and make her see sense. I see NOTHING attractive about any of Brayden’s qualities; looks or personality.

BUT!!! Where would we be without a little drama? I have to give Rebekkah Ford a massive round of applause -

Hands Clapping Applause

- For creating a world that I was able to step into, in its entirety. For writing a book that made my lose track of time and meals and sleep. And for creating characters that I care about, love, hate and loathe. The only reason I feel so strongly because of these characters, is because of what she’s done to weave this whole intricate world together. BRAVO!

Dark Spirits takes off from where the first book in the series, Beyond the Eyes, leaves off. Firstly, I want to point out that this novel can stand alone. You do not need to read book #1 of the series to enjoy book #2. However, there are some great insights if you do - and I do recommend reading both books. Secondly, I thought Rebekkah Ford did a wonderful job of summarizing the first book within the second book in such a way that, if you had read the first book, that it didn't seem redundant. Also, if you didn't read the first book, the summaries are very thorough and fill you in on all the back story quite nicely.

The characters are multi-faceted and well thought out. Each character had his or her own unique style about them. I loved the character of Paige. Her growth from book #1 to book #2 reminds me of Luke Skywalker's growth in the Star Wars (original) trilogy. You see Paige as a young high schooler, living pretty much alone, and very teenager-like in the first book. She matures in that book and starts off book #2 with a sense of self that really allowed her character to come across as so real in the book. I'm looking forward to book #3 to see more from this strong character.

The love interest, Nathan, was wonderful. I loved that the author didn't make these young lovers so blissfully ignorant and goo-goo eyed throughout the books. They work on their relationship and build their love on a strong foundation, but there are issues along the way. Namely - a love triangle with Brayden. Love, especially young love, doesn't just magically happen and the whole world is peaches and cream. I absolutely love that the couple had issues.

The human side characters were very enjoyable. In fact, it would be nice if Tree and Carrie had their own book spin-off! :-)

I enjoyed the evil dark spirits immensely. I won't write a spoiler, but one of their abilities sent a chill down my spine. That's good writing! :-) The dark spirits also reminded me of the demons from the TV show Supernatural (which is one of my favorite shows). Very compelling evilness! Loved it.

This is a great YA novel and I'm going to recommend it to my daughter. I do think many adults who enjoy paranormal will like this book as well. I did.

Immortal Complications

This series MUST be read in order. The first book is Beyond the Eyes. This is the second book.

The narration told from two points of view was nice because you got to see both sides of the story and get all the information in a believable manner. It was great to read a book where the characters didn't always have to stop to fill in the blanks for the audience. Not many books use dual narration and a lot of the ones that do don't use it well but I am happy to say this book used it very well :D I don't think the story could have been done well with only one narrator.

Paige(though now immortal)has a whole new set of problems to deal with and Nathan isn't being forthcoming about their circumstances. The couple has a lot of obstacles to overcome while Paige is still being hunted by various groups of dark spirits for a myriad of reasons. Everyone wants something from the newborn immortal Paige and they will not take no for an answer. The question is how will she escape her pursuers and the traps they set for her? Even though she cannot die from illness or age if all her blood is drained she dies as easily as a human. Will her budding romance with Nathan survive the trials and tribulations intact? Both her resolve and her friendships will be tested.

This book is full of action and suspense all wrapped up in a mystery. Thrills and chills add spice to the romance aspect. I would recommend this book to fans of paranormal action thrillers or urban fantasy. I can't wait to read the conclusion of this trilogy The Devil's Third (Beyond the Eyes Book 3) to see how it ends! (Though I am sure the end of the trilogy WON'T be the end of the series!)

FAIRY THOUGHTS
Favorite Line(s) “Okay, I have four words to say to you,”

“He’s no longer on our side. And the question is . . . how long has he been deceiving us?”

“He left, not realizing he now had a fight on his hands.”

Man this book was a journey for me! A fabulous frustrating journey! I loved the book but, Paige made me angry! She is blind when it comes to Nathan and Brandon! Nathan loves her and Brandon is obsessed with her! I mean hello Brandon is supporting immortals who have made deals with Dark Spirits! I know she's young but come on! She is letting her old relationship with Brandon influence her outlook on him now and I believe he has changed he's letting his OBSESSION cloud his thoughts! I'm worried he will make a deal with dark spirits and use them against Nathan!
That being said I gotta say as always the author wrote a exciting page turner! So much was revealed and so many more new questions! I can't wait to see what author comes up with next!

I was sent this book by Rebekkah and I am absolutely dumb struck. Not only has she managed to keep me interested in the story, she has left me thirsty for more. I love all of the characters, even the demons. Paige and Nathan have both developed in their relationship and in their characters, growing with every turn of the page. I feel like I am on the journey with them and I cannot wait until the next book comes out. Rebekkah is a very talented author and I feel very lucky to have stumbled upon her work. It takes a lot to make me feel physical pain while reading, drawing me in so deeply that I feel the pain of the characters and its something I haven't felt since New Moon and the Hunger Games. My heart is still pounding and my hands are shaking. Compelling, and looking forward to Devil's Third.

Dark Spirits by Rebekkah Ford is a delightfully spooky escape. A whimsical fun-filled tale that is both quirky and Edgy.

The Beyond the Eyes series is proving to be is an entertaining fun filled adventure. I really like the author's natural writing style. Easily pulled me in and captivated my interest. I also like that you get more than one point of view, it makes for even a better read. The characters are realistic in an unrealistic world. Made me feel for them even if their plights are different than ours. This is a suspenseful story that kept me guessing all the way through.

Quote ~

Nathan and I stared at each other, trapped in our own thoughts. And then, bit by bit, pieces started falling into place, like a game of Scrabble where the letters you had didn't make sense, but then as the game progressed they formed a word.

Rebekkah Ford has done it again. She as I said before has written another riveting addition to this amazing series. i did not think this book could be any better then beyond the eyes, but i was wrong. this book skips back and forth from nathans point of view and paige's POV, but it is very easy to follow. the love triangle between paige and nathan and paige and brayden is frustreating! but at the same time i totally understand why paige has the feelings that she has. There was so much action and twists and turns in this book, and i loved every page of it! I cannot wait to read book 3!

Check out my original review on my blog: Readiculously Peachy

My review:

** Disclaimer: I was privileged to receive a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review **

Dark Spirits is the second book from the Beyond The Eyes series, written by Rebekkah Ford. I was thankful to receive a kindle version of the Dark Spirits from the author, as I was quite positive about her first book, Beyond the Eyes (read the review here). I enjoyed the nature of the characters and the plot was special, fun, new, and also quite fast-paced. Even though I slightly liked her first book a little better, but in Dark Spirits, Ms Ford included new factors and aspects in which the author truly excelled in which made me want to keep 'turning the pages' in my Kindle. Let's get into the details!

Dark Spirits commences with the now immortal Paige, mourning her mother's sudden death as she scatters her mother's ashes over the Pacific Ocean. She is accompanied by Nathan, her immortal lover, and her best friends Carrie and Tree. As from my review of the first book, Beyond the Eyes, I was always quite drawn to the nature and uniqueness of the characters. Who they were and what they were destined to be has always caught my interest and has become a positive stimulate for me to continue reading Ms. Ford's stories.

As I was reading the first pages of the first chapter I was immediately submerged into the story. Paige and her companions are instantly thrown into the cruel and non forgiving hands of the dark reality they dwell in, which seemed to be forecasting a whole lot more trouble, mystery and adventures heading their way. This definitively did occur throughout the book, but unfortunately these adventurous, thrilling moments and twists came at a slower pace and were mostly shoved towards the middle and end of the book.

I found that throughout the beginning stages of the plot, there was a lack of 'happening' and significance, which made the pace quite slow and tedious. The beginning chapters of the book consisted often of endless back and forth arguments between Paige her co-characters; regularly 'far fetched' speculations and theories summed up by the characters; and infinite hormonal tantrums. I have nothing against a righteous arguments or fights between characters, or dramatic outbursts, however for my liking these were happening too often throughout this book. These aspects were also apparent in Beyond the Eyes (Book #1) and were not kept at bay in the Dark Spirits, and regrettably they had the same negative impact on my ratings for this book.

As in Beyond the Eyes, I enjoyed the piquant romantic relationship between Paige and Nathan, but unfortunately their romantic rendez-vous' were not as prominent in the Dark Spirits. As I hoped, the love triangle between Paige Nathan and Brayden definitely developed and intensified more, and I can't help but have a secret weakness for these types of romances! Luckily, the end of this book gave me the impression that this hot love triangle will not end any time soon and will only continue to develop in the next book of the Beyond the Eyes series.

What I really enjoyed from the Dark Spirits was Paige's change in character. Sure she was still quite the teary emotional girl, but that was a result of being a 'new-born immortal'. I now felt that her outbursts and emotional tantrums did have more of a justification and understanding behind it. I also genuinely enjoyed how Paige embraced the importance of independence and doing things not only for other's sake, but also truly for herself and her development in being an immortal. It is enjoyable to read how the relationship between Nathan and Paige turned from over dependency on each other (and over protectiveness from Nathan), to a more trusting and stronger relationship. I believe this will only flourish more in Ms. Ford's final book of this series, and I can't wait to read it!

What I definitely would like to commend Ms. Ford on is her writing style. I remember I commented on her writing style in my review on her first book to be quite simplistic and informal, and nothing more to it. Even though I did not see this as a complete negative, I did yearn for some more artistic or in depth descriptions, and boy did Ms. Ford come through with this! I really enjoyed how the author applied her background and in-depth knowledge on paranormal theory to the book. I have always been very intrigued in the paranormal, hence this was definitely a pleasant surprise to learn and read more about.

Thanks to the authors vastly improved writing techniques, I found Dark spirits to be a very a very interesting, in-depth, pleasant and easy read!

I would definitely recommend this book to the young adult readers out there who enjoy a saucy romance, many profound paranormal and SciFi descriptions, and unique and mischievous characters! I look forward to where Ms. Ford will take the characters next in her last book.

Interesting

Paige and Nathan are together, her mother has died and it seems every dark spirit is out to kill her. But Carrie and Tree stand with her as close friends. Brayden is becoming a total jerk as he thinks she belongs to him and not Nathan. The old one wants her alive, to help him find the incantations, but another dark spirit, someone who used to be infatuated with him, wants her gone.

The story has merit and the characters are slowly developing. Paige is over dramatic, but is only eighteen. Although this is not my typical read, it has kept me interested enough to finish it. Paige may be the only one who can save mankind, so I will have to finish it.

Read on my w.

This book was better than the first in my opinion.

Will Paige and Nathan never have a moment of peace! It is one incident after another. Paige has to deal with her new status and try to keep herself alive and still protect Carrie and Tree. She has Brayden trying to break her and Nathan up everywhere she turns. Problems, problems and more problems.

This is my honest review. Very interesting read.

Pretty good follow up

While I did get a little tired of the teen angst, I did enjoy this book two in a YA series because it is well plotted and the characters are attractive. There are a few editing issues--one paragraph uses collaborate when she means corroborate and except for accept--but in general it's not too distracting.

Great read

I am really enjoying this series. Paige annoys me with her insecurities about Nathan, because come on the guy loves her, luckily for her he is super understanding. This whole dark spirits inhabiting soulless people is strange, never heard of someone without a soul before.

Quick Disclaimer: I received a free copy of Dark Spirits as part of my payment for having done the book cover. Also, I don’t typically read paranormal romance, so what I may say might not be the same as someone else who reads a lot of paranormal romances. That being said, on to the review!

The characterizations were definitely enjoyable. My favorite characters were Tree, Max, and Ameerah. Even though Max had very little screentime, he stood out as a nice guy. I’d like to see more of him, though I’m hoping he doesn’t cause complications to the already iffy relationship between Paige and Nathan. Tree has the awesome “I’m a protective friend” aura, but he isn’t quite as overprotective as Nathan, so that’s a plus. Ameerah was a really neat character, and I hope to see more of her in Devil’s Third. I want to know more about her.

Again, I enjoyed the “Old One’s” character, and how his personality showed in Dark Spirits. I expect we’ll see more of him, and I do hope to see more about the magic and the different dimensions and such. Some of my favorite parts in Dark Spirits was in dealing with Carrie and Nathan’s witchcraft, as well as the mention of the different dimensions and types of dark spirits.

A large part of the story focused on Paige and Nathan’s relationship, and I was fine that they were having to work out a few issues… such as Nathan’s over-protectiveness (I’ll give Paige that one; he could’ve avoided a few problems by simply taking her with him), and Paige’s conflict between Nathan and Brayden. I did like Brayden’s character in this book better, but I kinda wish Paige wouldn’t be so quick to forgive and trust him. Needless to say, he doesn’t have my trust yet, and both Nathan and Brayden are a bit too obsessed with “protecting” Paige.

One downside I found for this story is that Paige’s emotions are all over the place. Granted, she does have the new-immortality-heightened-emotions thing going for her right now, but when she seems to have the hots for Nathan at almost any random moment, it felt like she should have spent a little more time learning to control them. On that note, there were times the descriptions felt a bit wordy, especially in regards to the characters emotions. It felt like we got a lot more information than necessary, or information we could have guessed on our own. But I also don’t read much in the way of paranormal romance, so it might just be a personal preference.

I did really enjoy getting to see both Paige and Nathan’s point of view. It threw me off at first, because I didn’t expect it, but I think it added to the story, especially during some of the scenes Paige doesn’t witness. It also gave a good deal more insight into Nathan’s character (and his brutality), and it makes me leary of him. So I think it adds an extra bit of intrigue.

The greatest thing about Dark Spirits is that the plot kept pulling me back to it. I wanted to know what happened next. Since I read it during break times at work, I was often having to sit it down right in the middle of a “But… what happens next?” moment. Though it felt a bit heavy on the description, it painted a clear picture of what was going on, and I didn’t get lost. I could easily remember what was going on. A very nice thing to have if you can’t read it in one sitting.

Formatting was good; it was easy to read, and I only noticed a couple typos. The beginning (first two chapters) was a bit slow, but it did well to remind us what happened in the previous book and what was going on in the meantime.

Dark Spirits was an enjoyable read, I really enjoyed the ending, and I look forward to reading The Devil’s Third. :-)

This is the second book in this series and Beyond The Eyes needs to be read first.

Paige Reed has just become immortal and knows that she must discover the truth about the incantations. Yet she must also figure out whose side everyone is on and who will umltimaterly keep her safe.

Her love for Nathan continues to grow but he is trying to hard to keep her safe and in doing so he is pushing her away and not making her feel equal with him. Then Brayden comes back and treats aige like she is wanting. Will she have to make a choice between the two?

There is also something strange going on with Anwar and Nathan and Paige are no longer sure where his loyalties lie. There appears to be division within the dark spirits and not everyone agrees with the "old one's" plans.

As Paige tries to keep her friends Carrie and Tree she realizes they may be too involved already and Paige must really figure out who is on her side.

This was a great second book! Although at times I was so frustrated at the emotional games that certain characters were playing at Paige's expense.

I like Paige but was frustrated at the times she really doubted Nathan and his intentions. I completely understand why she wanted to know what was going on but she was to respect that he truly loves her and wants to keep her safe. Although it was the keeping her safe that ended up getting her in trouble.

I do really like Nathan and wear my "Team Nathan" shirt with pride. He loves Paige so much that he wants to keep her out of the way of harm but unfortunately not informing Paige things got him into trouble yet he was the one that was there for her when she needed it the most. Hopefully the next book will show a more equal partnership of the two.

So I am not Team Brayden and I do realize that he cares for Paige a lot but I wish he would just let her be happy and not cause her emotional distress by trying to put Nathan down. If he wanted to truly help her then he would join in on trying to discover things and be loyal to more than himself and Paige.

I like Carrie and Tree although I admit that I am kind of scared to see what is going to come from what Carrie has been working on. I sure hope that she is able to help Paige without getting hurt!

I'm still very intrigued by the "old one" and how he truly wants no harm to come to Paige. I am definitely looking forward to seeing how this series concludes!

First, I would like to thank the author Rebekkah Ford for giving this book for an honest review. Dark spirits is the second book in the Beyond the Eyes series. I like this book again the author has done a great job making it believable. We have Paige and Nathan working on their relationship and they are having some issues come up. Brayden comes back and causes some of these issues. I love that this is a story that makes the love aspect believable with the fact they have to work on it, it’s not just starry eyed, we love each other everything is perfect BS. I am looking forward to reading more of this series.

Now that Paige is an immortal, she is the strongest she's ever been. She's still destined to find the incantations and destroy them before the world as she knows it is destroyed. But when her old flame Brayden is set on proving to her that she is meant to be with him and not Nathan, will her an Nathan's relationship survive? Time is running out and those you once could trust have now betrayed you. Will Paige and Nathan be any closer to finding where these ancient incantations are? Can't wait to read the final book in this trilogy!
