As storm clouds gather in the sky above, the animals of Noah's ark offer their own version of the story from the Bible. Beginning with the aardvarks, who hear Noah receiving the news of the coming flood, animals representing each letter of the alphabet bear witness to what they have seen.
Together with Rosanne Litzinger's jewel-like paintings, John Stewig's reverent and eloquent text makes a unique alphabet book.
An interesting twist on the mythological biblical tale of Noah's Arc, as it is told from the perspective of the animals. Each animal is introduced from A-Z expressing what they experienced during the god call to Noah, the gathering of two of each animal, the building of the arc, the flooding of 40 days and 40 nights, and finally the arc landing on a mountain and freeing of the animals to live on the earth again. A very good read for beginning readers as they are introduced to more animals names besides tiger, bird, and cat. At the end of the book, the author supplies a animal alphabet glossary.
Very creative A-Z account of Noah and the Ark. The constant repetition of the Bible-based concepts were great for drilling. I loved the animal alphabet glossary in the back of the book. The illustrations were unique and helped the story come to life. This would be a good home study tool; it could be used in a number of ways.
