All of the designs in Cozy Knits are knit with Cascade Pacific and Cascade Pacific Chunky yarns. These affordable yarns come in an endless array of colors and are a blend of superwash merino wool and acrylic, making them ideal for creating projects for babies and kids, gifts, home decor items, and everyday accessories and garments.
Cozy Knits has techniques for knitters of all skill levels, including cables, lace, brioche knitting, intarsia, Fair Isle, and slip stitch, as well as tried-and true stockinette stitch and garter stitch. This collection offers projects that every member of the family will love, including sweaters, shawls, shrugs, mittens, hats, afghans, and baby blankets.
The patterns in this book are knit in yarns from Cascade’s Pacific line. There are a variety of projects. I especially liked the Brioche Du Jour Ribbed Scarf designed by Nancy Marchant, Weekend Away Lace Gaiter by Veronica Parsons, Final Frost Lace Capelet by Linda Medina, Sweater Girl Raglan Cardigan by Melissa Goodale and You are My Sunshine Cabled Baby Cardigan by Robin Melanson.
I am a beginner so while I am attracted to the patterns in this book, I found it completely overwhelming. Maybe once I get better I will return to this
I really like this series of books. The patterns are contemporary but classic. They have designs that are unique but not too difficult. When I am looking for a pattern for a gift, I turn to these books first as they have a lot of good choices. They are put out by Cascade yarn which is easy to find and works up well. This book I read from Kindle Unlimited which means that it was free which is even better!
There are so many good gift-idea projects here, it's challenging to choose my first one. I'm glad that the projects are organized by type: hats, mittens, scarves, etc... The instructions for each project are usually written out; charts are used only in the case of complex lace patterns. I am comfortable following both types of directions, but this may not be the case for everyone.
This has some fun projects! While I think that the directions could sometimes be more clear, out of the 50 options, I could see myself making and wearing most of the designs. Who knew I'd be drawn to a knitted belted vest of all things?!
Most directions call for bulky knit, which is nice in that it works up a little more quickly, which is good for impatient knitters like myself.
Great projects - most of which call for bulky yarn - which have the potential to be amazing gifts. A fantastic collection of hats, mittens, cowls and scarves. This book has patterns for all knitting skill levels.
