A Prearranged Love looked like a cute read and it turned out to be exactly that. It was short and sweet and quite realistic. Not everyone has bells ringing in their hearts with the love at first sight thing, some people take time to really get each other and that was exactly Rekha and Arjun's story.

Rekha is spirited and independent. When her mother asks her to meet a prospective groom she agrees to it. She is definitely attracted to the handsome Arjun but then he goes and opens his mouth and ruins it. I liked Rekha. She was fun and bubbly and confident in her own self not willing to take shit from anyone. She was just as confused with love and marriage but she wanted the best for her.

Arjun has other expectations when he agrees to go on a blind date with Rekha. He is a bit thrown off by the tiny fire cracker that is Rekha and blurts out the first inappropriate thing on his mind. After Arjun and Rekha reject each other fate decides to throw them together and they are forced to work with each other. Here Arjun really sees Rekha for who she is.

Rekha and Arjun shared a hilarious relationship. Hilarious for us, not them. They have a love hate relationship and there's no denying the attraction they both feel. I loved seeing Arjun and Rekha together. It was sweet and fun and they somehow always managed to push each other's buttons.

A Prearranged Love makes for an easy and quick read. I enjoyed the few hours I spent with Arjun and Rekha and seeing them come together was a pleasure. I do wish there was an epilogue or a more satisfactory ending though. This was a light romance which will leave you grinning by the end of it.

light-hearted, but predictable

One could almost predict what will be the story after reading first few pages.
But its worth giving a shot, one could read it to pass the time.
Not a great stuff though.

Rekha Ramkumar is bold, independent and holds high value about herself. She is easy-going and also matured with a smart-mouth. And, she is short with curly hair.

Arjun Kalyan is smart and outspoken. He is a successful professional. And, he is tall and really handsome.

What I think
The cover-page has a tall guy and a cute-looking girl. In a subtle manner, it tells us what can be expeted in the book. The book blurb is brief and to the point. It hints the readers about the plot.

And then, the story…. It is the normal boy-meets-girl and then, hate-at-first-sight-blooms followed by friendship, love and finally marriage! The plot is not different or intriguing. The story is also predictable with some predictable twists and turns as promised by the book blurb.

But, what makes this book an interesting read is the narrative style and the intelligent dialogs used. The story might be clichéd, but the characters are not. They seem to be too real to ignore and too smart to hate.

What I really liked about this book is that the characters are very practical. There is no unnecessary whining and fooling around. Maybe because, the characters are not teenagers living in a fantasy world, but grown up professionals. The mothers of both Rekha and Arjun are very understanding who are matured enough to accept the fact that their kids are adults now!

I liked the way in which the author has used dreams as means to depict the feeling and thoughst of Rekha. I also liked how Rekha calls her Scooty as Tanya. I mean most of the girls have pet names for their vehicle. And, the story unravels in Hyderabad. I wish that the author wrote about the city too.

In short, this is a kind of story that would transform into an endearing romantic Indian movie…

But...
Don’t expect anything new in the plot. Also don’t expect any great work of literature.
Also, the story is very predictable.

Should you read it?
It is a perky read which could cheer up your mood.
A nice way to kill time.
With as less as 180 pages, the book needs only as much time as a movie demands.
So… Go for it!

After a busy schedule arranging my daughter's wedding,I finally sat down to blog.It was a lazy and hot morning and I couldn't find words to pen due to the long break I had taken. That is when I decided to read .While browsing I came across 'A prearranged love' by Anusha Vishnampet. Not only the title and the cover photo the author's name too attracted me towards the book.It was her first novel and she had some reviews to her credit.I ordered it in Homeshop and waited for it to arrive.I read Jayakandhan's essays which were real great. No one can beat his style or take you along like him, be it essays or novels or short stories. He has a magic. The book I ordered arrived.I started it as I did not want to get into any serious reading after the hectic five months. Anusha did not cheat me .I couldn't put the book down.I finished it in two days .

As Anusha had written it was a love story with a difference-- A love that sparks later after the initial hatred and anger.I loved Rekha's mom who was more a friend than a mom.Rekha represents a young woman who is carrer oriented and has full of self respect.Arjun though apperas a bit rude and harsh in the beginning seems to be frank and honest and fun loving. The fear of getting into commitment was shown well by Anusha. For a debut ,the novelettte has come out very well. Her style is very lucid and simple. It was very expressive and sometimes felt like I was listening to a narration. The way she talks about technicalities in advertising made me wonder if she was into it.Her flow was really good.I hope to see more novels from her.Wishing her all the very best.

Read this book, though never heard the title or author of the book but still when I saw the book on flipkart ebook app while searching my next read, I found it intriguing, the cover of the book is very nicely made and it completely goes with the title and story.
Coming to the story it is very well written, I really found it interesting and cute, its a book to read in your leisure time and pleasant and happy relaxed mood, better if you are single and to get married in an arrangement, or had an arranged marriage. It clearly shows the problems a couple faces in an arrange marriage, the questions in their mind, the insecurity about the partner and future, the necessity of having an understanding between them, and blah...
But the best part of the book was it included a love factor between Rekha and Arjun and also created a story in their marriage, the first meets, the destiny making them meet again, first opinion then change of opinion, the growing closeness, feeling of intimacy, the small sweet intentional fights, the hugs and kisses, aaahhhh that actually was the cutest part of the story when Arjun kissed Rekha for first time and started their relationship, obviously the last kiss marked an end too to their on-going hide and seek relationship, the misunderstandings and then the dare of the bravehearted Arjun our hero of the story.

All in all a book that can be very well read and which can easily go down your heart and make you smile. well I am smiling a lot as I can feel the story and the circumstances better being in the same phase.

A Pre-Arranged love by Anusha Vishnampet is a very cute story. It is about Rekha Ramkumar, working with Flash Advertising & Marketing Solutions. She lives with her mother Sheela in Hyderabad. Her mother wants her to get married and ettle down in life and arranges for her to meet her friend, Sunita’s son, Arjun Kalyan, a software developer at Softech, over a cup of coffee. They meet and the result is disastrous. Rekha and Arjun end up calling each other names.

As luck would have it, her company is selected to make a corporate video and TV and Print Advertisement for his company. And they meet again. They are courteous to each other initially because of the professional relationship and later become friends.

The flow of the story and the storyline is very good. A very beautifully written book.

The story revolves around Rekha who is an Ad maker and Arjun IT guy who are setup for a marriage meet by their parents who realize that they are totally opposite of each other, and during that time something comes up and they start criticizing each other and swear that they wont see each other. But fate has something else in store for them when Arjun’s IT company hire Rekha’s company to make an ad for them.

The first part I loved is the cover image which I think is beautifull. Its an entertainment package coz from start to end they only fight with each other and those dialogue are the highlight in the book. Those sweet cute fights, are nice. For the fist timers you wont be disappointed by the book.A sweet love/laugh riot.

The downside of the book is its predictability and nothing new to offer.

I actually wanna give 2.5 stars, however additional star is for the perfectly breezy writing.

Definitely it was a very easy on mind and fun to read. The book did live upto its expectations and I had expected through out for a similar end. It was very breezy and light-hearted romantic with few good laughs here and there. This book can easily make for a plot of an rom-com Hindi or the south regional languages movie.

Guy's point of view from the beginning was pretty strong and the climax really makes it look like it was been rushed. It didn't have enough conviction for the reader to believe that Mr. Kalyan was ready to be hitched. There could have been some more drama and the book would have been some more interesting.

It was good read. I enjoyed the story even the story did not hold much surprises.
But with a small content i was able to understand the characters. The thoughts of "Rekha" and her confusion were well described and so common. If were ever in love u will understand kind of way it was easier to understand for me.
Little bit about negative points ....

I felt less role and pages devoted to "Arjun". some pages more could have be spared for his thoughts.

After reading it while i was looking at it's cover i felt the cover was to catch reader's attention rather than presenting story. (Let me clarify i did not pick this book by it's cover :D)

Over all i will say it's 3.5/5

Actually i want to rate this book for 3.5 but there is no option as such, Story is divided in ten chapters carried very well through out, Author has tried to throw some light over today generation fear over commitment and fear about nuptial reliationship. Every one wants to hang out and to party but when turns come for commitment they show the back. So it was very well written about Rekha and Her Boy friend, How they Meat and they hate each other at their first meeting but soon they start like other company and chemistry between them improves. and later on they releize that they love each other and confess their love for others.

One star for the story and an extra star for the breezy writing!

The story is a typical Indian (arranged marriage) love-story one gets to read very often, from your cousin sister or aunt (if you're an Indian).
The plot was very much what I had expected when I started with the first chapter, except the sarcasm from the protagonist Rekha and witty answers from Arjun is what I loved.

This is one of those books I wouldn't think of re-reading,
pretty much forgotten and left lying in the never ending piles of my not-so-liked books!!

Hi
I wanted to read this book because of the author Ms. Anusha Vishnampet, probably once I lived in the same village Vishnampet rather Vishnampettai in Tanjore District. I am reading now and have not yet finished, so far I like this book and I will finish it. I wish Ms. Anusha should write more novels. I studied in Sir P.S. Sivaswamy Iyer High School, Tirukattupalli. If the author happened to see I shall be happy.

This was one good entertaining read with well sketched characters and the situations. The mother-daughter bond was something that I enjoyed reading. In addition, the idea of being set up for a date by the parent and the progress thereon, this is one book that explains how parents support their children to find the right partner for themselves. Enjoyed reading the book!

It is a cute story. The language is simple but strong enough to retain the interest of the reader. Plot is predictable but there is a good flow. Descriptions are brief, would have been nice if there were some more elaborate details. Overall, I liked it.

A fairly enjoyable read. The book is well written. The story moves on smoothly. The best parts were the Indian corporate setting and Indian middle-class family background. The characters were well written and with very identifiable issues.

Recommend it to my friends who love reading romance.
