Alaska Dispatch: The Places We've Gone

Rate this book
Alaskans may know us online as Alaska Dispatch, a news site covering the state and the Arctic since 2008. This book - Alaska Dispatch: The Places We've Gone - is the first attempt at what we hope will be more books from our staff and contributors. The Places We've Gone offers a Collection of intimate photos and essays, an examination of Alaska, from its majestic mountains to its special people - as captured by Alaska Dispatch photographer Loren Holmes and reporters Ben Anderson, Jill Burke, Amanda Coyne, Alex DeMarban and Craig Medred. Our book presents a timeless journey through the state - be it standing on the shores of the Arctic Ocean during a bowhead whale harvest, atop of Alaska's most-climbed mountain on summer solstice, or on the runners of a dog sled along the Iditarod Trail.

I really only got to skim this book, marvelling mainly at the gorgeous photographs and gleaning as much information as I could in the short time I had to peruse the book. It's a wonderful book that shows aspects of Alaskan life, culture, geography and nature.
