Mysterious. Enchanting. Unique.

Catalyst is definitely different and unique New Adult read. Interesting paranormal story with dose of romance was a nice breather for me. Captivating cover plus magical story made reading Catalyst sweet experience.

The story follows Addison Avery, nineteen year old girl who was adopted. She knows nothing about her biological mother so when she inherits her family house, she is astonished. Now, she’s going to spend vacation in this bizzare place.

Slowly Addison discovers who her family was and the person that knows things about Avery’s is Kace. Sexy stranger Addison meets on the beach. Stranger who tells her fascinating things about magick. She can’t deny their instant attraction.

Now Addison’s dealing with demon of her past, spectacular power and her heart which beats faster and faster for Kace. Can normal nineteen year old handle all of this?
Catalyst is another book by Jennifer Snyder worth checking out, it’s definitely something that can easily be entertaiment for the night.

Addison and Kace's relationship was everything I like.

I had few issues with the plot, some things were left unanswered, few I couldn’t quite grasp. I wished for a little bit more closure, but overall I had fun! The story is unique and enchanting and for those of you that like magical novels it’s a must read!

The story was clearly well thought-out and I enjoyed the take on witchcraft / Hoodoo. However, and this is obviously my personal issue, I feel cheated as a reader when an installment can't stand on it's own. I will gladly read a trilogy, but not every story is trilogy material.

This installment ended mid-stride, not so much on a cliffhanger (both literally and figuratively), but without having a complete story arc for the first book. It was as though the author cut the manuscript at the height of the action / plot arc just to break it into a trilogy. I would much rather pay a higher price for a complete story than be nickle and dimed to purchase Bks 2 & 3 simply because that's the vein most YA/NA stories have taken.

Yes, of course this means that it's (gasp!) not easily digested in one sitting. But who cares? I'll gladly read a textbook-length story (Outlander by Diana Gabaldon anyone?) if it's good.

I received a copy of Catalyst for review from Laura at Little Read Riding Hood and her Author Services, but Braine from Talk Supe put me in contact with her which is fabulous.

For me Catalyst was an easy read, fairly fast paced and it held my attention really well, which I certainly consider a pro lately as its Summer and I seem to spend a lot of my time not reading.

The story follows Addison who inherits a house in a small beach town from her birth mother, who she never met. As a Summer trip, and way to escape what she wants to do next with her life Addison decides to stay in the house for a while with her best friend.

During their time here Addison starts to uncover some small truths about her family, mostly that she is from a family of witches and whilst she's a little sceptical at first she does end up trying her hand at magic. Their magic is based off the elements, hers being fire and this means that the person who's element is air (Kace) is pretty much her soul mate, they ignite each other. Just like earth and water do too - we meet this people too and they're pretty intense with their relationship.

Even though Addison clearly wants to know more about her birth family, she doesn't get to find out much which means we don't too and whilst this could be seen as a fault if you're a little impatient, it didn't bother me because the book on a whole didn't feel like it was set over a large time span and spent much more time developing the relationship between Addison and her "new family" of witches.

Besides from Addison we also briefly meet her best friend, but due to some hoodoo magick she has to leave. Urgently. I would have liked her to stay around as her and Addison are very different people but maybe we see more of her in the sequel?

Then there is Theo who we only see about three times in the book and honestly I think he was my favourite character haha. He was mysterious and I wanted to know more! I know we're supposed to think of him as the "bad guy" of the story but honestly the way he treated her at the beginning in the cafe seemed more intrigued than anything, and then with what happened at the end of the book I have a feeling he might become a little bit of a heart throb in the sequel which should introduce some tension between the magick and hoodoo families. Oh yeah did I mention Theo practices in hoodoo! I can't wait to hear more about this as well.

Okay and now onto Kace. He and Addison hit it of pretty much straight away, they have a spark between them, physically. As in they actually kind of bring alive the magick in one another and it sounds great what they have. Overall he is pretty sweet towards Addison, and she clearly likes him, but I felt he was a little too forward, probably because he grew up with knowledge of magick whereas Addison didn't so at times I felt he wasn't being as helpful as he could have been but I imagine there is a heck of a lot to learn and she didn't want to embrace it all in one day.

He is also where Addison finds out most of her answers to her family, but as stated we don't actually find out much, I have a few questions left unanswered from her mothers prologue because to me it hints that there could be some giant fault or mistrust with the families, I'm not sure why, this is just the vibes I'm getting. I'm excited to see if I'm right or not.

Overall I enjoyed the story a lot, it had me hooked, and even if I felt it had some downsides it certainly got its nails dug into me and that is where they shall stay because I am now dying to read the sequel. Soon! I really need to know what happens and I have a feeling it'll be an even better book!

My Review
Favorite Quote(s):
“Kace gave me a mischievous look that was wickedly sexy on his handsome face, and I felt my bones begin to melt. He knew what he was doing to me. What the hell had I wanted to talk to him about? I couldn't remember. This guy was like an all-consuming drug. He clouded my mind and forced away all reality.”
Favorite Character: Kace.
First Line:
“Angela Avery snuggled the soft, warm body that was wrapped tightly inside a pink fleece blanket close to her chest.”
My Musings: So I was surfing Facebook and I came across Jennifer Snyder’s status that said she was sending five copies of Catalyst to reviewers before the cover reveal for the second novel. I had been eyeing this novel from a few weeks prior, so I just had to request it because my review schedule had finally cleared up. And so I did. She sent it to me, and now I’m writing this the same day. This novel was fantastic—it kept me locked in for hours, and I’m proud to say that I read it in one sitting!
This novel follows Addison Avery as she and her best friend venture to the house she inherited from her biological mother (she was adopted) in a small town in Georgia. But when she meets Kace, things get weird. Suddenly, she’s thrust into a world of magick that she couldn't have even imagined. And of course, someone is trying to get rid of her.
I loved the story line in this book. I’m not much of a magic reader, so this was oddly refreshing after being holed up with vampires and contemporaries for so long. Snyder created a unique fantasy world that reminded me of the TV show Secret Circle. But even though it had parallels, it was still individual all the same. The things that Snyder came up with to create her magical world were truly ‘magickal’. The novel was filled with action and suspense, and it kept me on the edge of my seat for the duration of the novel. The story itself took place over what I’m thinking was about a week and a half. Although that seems like a short period of time, it didn't feel that way at all. The writing was so descriptive and such that I felt like it had been weeks, maybe months, since Addison had journeyed to Georgia.
Addison’s character was okay to me. She definitely wasn't the strongest female character I've read, but I feel like it gives her time to grow as a character in the next book. She was a girl searching for who she was, confused about her biological parents and the reasons why her mother gave her up. She wasn’t a whiny character, which was fantastic. She just wasn’t super astounding to me. She was fine enough to read, and her narration was interesting enough to keep me hooked; I just hope that she grows into herself more and becomes more confident in who she is in the next novel.
“The smoldering look that entered his eyes then was beyond sinful. It was like he had this effect on me, this power to ignite whatever magick was within me, to awaken it, was the best foreplay he’d ever come across.”
Kace. Kace, Kace, Kace. First thing’s first: I loved his name. It was unique, and I had never read a character whose name was Kace. Kace was a ‘sexy as sin’ kind of guy. He was cocky, but not overwhelmingly so. He’s was kind of a horn-dog, but oddly enough it worked for him. He could be surprisingly sweet, and he was always looking out for Addison, considering that they had only known each other for about a week. I yearned for the parts of the book that had Kace in them; he was a swoon-worthy boy—er, man—indeed.
I think the only thing that I didn’t like about this novel was the romance, and even that grew on me by the halfway point in the novel. This book was insta-love personified. It was really a turn off at first. But as I saw Kace and Addison interact more, the more I came to realize that they were purely controlled by the magick that flowed between them. Yeah, that may not have been the only reason they liked each other, but that’s what gave them the push. But still. Strangely enough, it worked for the two of them, and I soon forgot that it had only been two days before they were having steamy makeout sessions. But other than that, their romance was steamy and sexy beyond belief, and that’s not even with sex scenes. I don’t even think there were any of those scenes written out…yeah they happened, but we didn’t really read about them. And I loved that. I loved reading this New Adult novel and not having to worry about reading about the characters as they actively did the dirty. I liked how Synder would pick up, say, the morning after. No graphic sexy times in this novel!
Catalyst was a magnificent novel filled with magick, mystery, and a ‘sexier than sin’ romance; with a novel like this one out there, you shouldn’t be reading anything else until you’ve read this one.

{my thoughts} - I wasn’t quite sure what I thought about the book based on the synopsis. However, once I read the first three chapters I was glued. This book is about a girl named Addison Harmon. She was given up for adoption by her biological mother and then inherited her biological grandmothers estate when her biological mother had passed away. Her and her adoptive parents had been to the house and seen it. However, she is spending some time in this house and trying to decide what she is going to do with the house. A lot of weird things start happening that make her question her sanity. She soon meets a boy named Kace that leaves her with more questions about herself and who she really is as a person.

This book was well worth the read I enjoyed the lightheartedness of it as well as the added in paranormal things. The pages weren’t just filled with a bunch of information it was filled with a girls journey in learning about herself and things that had been kept from her. It shows her desire to know more and her ability to make things work given the situation she has been placed in. I look forward to reading book two!!!!

{reason for reading} - I was given a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.

Addison met the gorgeous Kace, and when they touched? Wow. Magick. Apparently they both have magick in them. Addison has inherited her grandmother's house with all of its spookiness. Will she decide to stay in this small town?

Catalyst was a fun, action packed, and magickal paranormal book. Despite the fact that it’s New Adult, it was clean and only involved brief mentions of intimacy between the characters and other adult themes. The language was also relatively clean. Many New Adult novels are taking language and intimacy to the next level, which doesnt bother me, but I love reading the ones that are New Adult based on character age instead of content! In many ways, Catalyst reminded me of a YA paranormal, just with older characters who are on their own for the most part. Still, though Addison was over 18 and living on her own, her adoptive parents were involved in her life, which I enjoyed
.
It seems as if I’m always searching for books (especially series) to fill the gap that the cancellation of The Secret Circle TV Show left because I love magic and witchy paranormal plots. Catalyst was deliciously magickal, secretive, and enchanting! Addison inherited a house in the town of Soul Harbor from her biological mother. She knew nothing about her biological parents and the mere mention of them seemed to upset her adoptive mother, so she wanted to spend the summer away on her own to make a good decision about keeping the house. Addison’s arrival in Soul Harbor was a big deal to the magickal residents. Much like in The Secret Circle, her presence changed everything in regards to the balance of power. She was the key and she had no idea. Fortunately, she stumbled into Kace, a gorgeous local who had no problem filling Addison in on her heritage and importance. And the electricity between them was magickal, literally and figuratively.

I loved Addison’s character. She was down to earth, friendly, and curious. She wasn’t afraid to ask questions and learn about her magickal abilities and heritage. Kace was a wonderful love interest. He was laid back, open, and honest, which was something I wasn’t expecting. I suppose I expected him to be reserved and mysterious, but I’m glad he surprised me. I liked how the two of them were together, despite the fact that touch seemed to distract both of them. I was just as intrigued as Addison by the magickal qualities of the town and the inhabitants. I loved learning more about it and trying to figure out where Addison fit and what happened with her biological mother. She seemed to be a threat to someone and the target of some sort of revenge or plot. The conflict was interesting and completely unpredictable.

I do wish the book was longer. It wasn’t really slow or all that short, but I was so engrossed in the plot and the characters, before I knew it, the book was over. I wished the book didn’t end quite so soon, but I did like the way it ended and I’m intrigued by what might happen in book #2.

I recommend Catalyst to fans of witchy paranormal novels, both YA and adult. I loved the magical plot and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. It was well written and entertaining. I’m hoping this series will be my go-to Indie witch series because I’m totally enchanted and I sense a series addiction forming. =) I love finishing a book and knowing that you’ve found a series that you’ll probably want to see through the very end! Catalyst has a ton of potential to be a personal favorite.

Addison Avery has just graduated from high school and has decided to spend the Summer at her newly inherited house in the small town of Soul Harbor. Both Addison and her friend Vera are expecting to have a fun time but things go South very quickly. There are some townspeople that want her out of their town immediately and will go to great lengths to make it happen. Including involving some powerful magick. Addison begins to sense something is off and she physically feels different; especially when she touches Kace, a very good looking local. Addison soon realizes that there is something more to this weird feeling inside of her. With the help of Kace, Addison begins her journey in discovering her family's past. Along the way, Kace must also help Addison protect herself from those that wish to cast her out of Soul Harbor.

I'm personally a huge fan of witches and it's usually difficult for me to find quality stories about them. Jennifer Snyder's Catalyst was one that immediately drew me in. The addition of the elements is something that sets this story apart from all other witch novels.

The prologue sets up the rest of the story nicely. The reader gets a glimpse of the moment when Addison's mother chooses to give her up. It poses many questions that we hope to find the answers to as we continue on. Unfortunately, we don't really get much answered. Instead, new questions arise.

The only character that really seems well-formed is Addison. Which is important considering she's the protagonist. Since this is a series, I don't find it necessary to really get an in-depth description of the other characters. I assume we'll get more background information as the series progresses. That being said, we do get a good taste of the other characters and leaves room for a bit of intrigue.
The character that really stood out to me, aside from Addison of course, was Admer. Admer is the owner of Spellbinding Reads, the bookstore that Addison works at. He gives off a weird, at times unsettling vibe that makes it difficult to pinpoint if he's "good" or "evil". He seems to know a lot about the Avery family and especially Addison's mother. The character of Admer greatly intrigued me and I'm really looking forward to getting to know more of him.

The ending of the book has a pivotal moment that sets up the next book. It all happens so fast that, I personally had to take some time and re-read so I could process what had happened. Again, more questions are raised and the ending definitely leaves you wanting more.

From the beginning, I thought that this book read like a teen, paranormal TV show that would be shown on networks like the CW or ABC Family. When I read the "About The Author" bit at the end, I saw that Jennifer Snyder is a fan of those types of shows, so it made sense. This is no way is a negative factor, I just thought it was interesting. As far as I'm aware, this is supposed to be in the New Adult genre, but it read more like a teen book. I would recommend this book to any teen who loves paranormal stories. Adults can certainly enjoy this book, as well.

Witches, elements, Hoodoo, black (with a bit of white) cats, and some sexy time. Catalyst is a fun read that draws you into the world of these Elementals.

Disclaimer: I received this e-book in exchange for an honest review.

I wasn't sure how I would feel about this one because it looked so good. I was afraid that my expectations wouldn't be met and I would have to chuck the e-book aside (very hard to do unless I want to hurt my Kindle) Thankfully I didn't need to worry because I loved it and was very glad that I had gotten this book.

A lot of the book reminded me so much of Charmed and I LOVED that TV series so much. Addison was awesome. I could see the progression from being curious of the house to almost afraid of it by the end because she still didn't quite understand what was going on. She was just hoping that all this creepy stuff was actually going on and that she wasn't simply going crazy.

Vera bored me.We really didn't get to know her very well and I was really peeved at her running out on Addison because she was scared. I believe she should have stayed and supported her best friend. Especially given the fact that Addison wanted her there. That should have trumped fear.

Oh Kace, I'm pretty sure he earned his spot as my number one book boyfriend. He was so dreamy and usually I don't use those words to describe a man but wow, I loved him. I loved how he comforted Addison when she was scared. I loved how he provided her with information instead of hiding it.

I have a soft spot for cats so of course I have to mention adorable Binks. I knew there was something weird about him from the beginning. I wasn't sure exactly what it was until it was explained in the book.

Oh Admer, another character that I loved. I knew that there was something strange about him from the beginning and I'm still a little irked that we didn't know what was up with him until practically the end. Like Addison,I think he definitely knows more than he told her initially and I'm hopeful that he'll give Addison the full story in the upcoming second book.

Editing-wise,very well done. I didn't have any issues with the pacing or grammar, spelling or anything else. I just didn't want to put the book down at all. The book kept me hooked throughout the whole thing.

I am giving this book 4 stars mainly because I don't feel like I got to know Theo or Callie that well. If they are going to be important characters in the next book,I'm hoping that we'll get to know them better.Aside from that small character development issue,I adored this book so much.

*I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Catalyst is a fun paranormal romance. The first book in a series, it ends in a cliffhanger (pun intended-you'll get it when you finish the book). It's rather short and a really quick read that holds the reader's interest. It left me wishing there was more since my curiosity has been piqued. The prologue is rather heartbreaking, leaving me in tears to start the first chapter. The book is much more lighthearted from there.

Addison was given up for adoption as a baby because her mother thought it the only way to keep her from a foreseen death. She grows up with a loving family, knowing she was adopted but nothing more. When her birth mother dies and leaves her a house in a small beach town, Addison packs up and heads there with her best friend Vera.

But more than just a house is awaiting Addison in Soul Harbor. A secret world of elementals and magic is revealed to her almost immediately. Things move fast for the blindsided Addison, and she adjusts to the bizarre situation amazingly well. Based on her reactions, it would take quite a bit to shock her. I love the character Binks, the cat. He comes with the house and fortunately Addison is a cat person. Her friend Vera, not so much.

Kace Sullivan is the romantic interest. Addison and Kace are tied to each other due to their opposing/complimenting elements. Their relationship is sudden, but the chemistry is definitely there between these two characters. There are quite a few peripheral characters in addition to Vera, including Kace's friends Adam and Callie, as well as a mysterious guy named Theo. None of them feature very prominently in this book, perhaps they will be in the next.

It appears someone in Soul Harbor isn't happy that Addison showed up. Dangerous Hoodoo spells are used to try to drive her away. Addison sees suspicion everywhere and has no idea who to trust. Catalyst ends with us still in the dark over who intends to harm her. There are so many possible suspects. It will be interesting to see what develops in the next book, Conjure.

This book is upper YA or new adult. It contains references to sex and alcohol consumption by minors. I recommend this book to ages 17+. If you like light paranormal romance, add Catalyst to your to-read list.

Addison Avery is a recent high school graduate, who isn't quite sure what she wants to do with her life. After finding out that her birth mother left her a beach front house, she and her best friend Vera decide to spend the summer there. The purpose of the trip is to figure out what she wants to do with the house. Should she get a job and live in the house for the summer, or should she part ways with the house and sell it? The decision lies heavily on her adoptive mother. She fears that Addison will want to stay there and forget the life she knows. Due to this, Addison is careful of what to say to her Mom, as she is afraid to hurt her feelings.

The girls begin to unpack and make the house livable. While cleaning, Addison feels that a presence is watching her. She opens up a door and out runs a cat. This doesn't seem like any ordinary cat. There is something there that makes Addison feel as though the cat knows something. Something that will give her some insight to her family and answer pressing questions that she has. Insight that would change her life forever. Trying to forget this uneasy feeling, the girls decide that they need to get out of the house.

After tidying up, Addison and Vera walk the beach and take in the view. Upon walking the beach that first afternoon, Addison meets Kace Sullivan, a native and very sexy man of South Harbor, Georgia. There was something about this guy, something electric. Addison even felt it with his touch as he asked her to a local's party that evening. She assumed it was just her that felt something, since it hadn't been long after the break-up with her high school boyfriend.

Addison soon discovers that feeling that she has is none other than "magick". Kace teaches her the ins and outs of her special power and the two feel a connection like no other. Magick is what connects the two, but what does it mean for them? What power does it hold?

This was an amazing read for me. I picked up the book and after beginning to read, I couldn't put it down. I was finished in just a couple of hours .. it's that good! Therefore when you begin reading, do not expect to get anything else done! Jennifer Snyder has done it again. She has pulled me in and has me wanting more. Next up - Conjure, the next in line of the Tethered series.

The first in this paranormal romance has a massive cliffhanger to lead to the next in the series, and is more a story for 17+ with underage drinking and some sexual references, leaning to the upper end of YA or a solid NA read.

Addison as the protagonist is well-developed and defined. I appreciated her quirks, especially her ability to get lost even with a GPS. And her frank assessment of her best friend Vera is quite telling: there is more there in that friendship than we have seen. What we know, and Addison doesn’t is that she comes from a long line of witches, her mother’s attempt to change her destiny and save her from an early end resulted in giving her up for adoption: yet continuing to keep a tie by bequeathing her the family home.

Conversations are realistic and well presented, although there were some glaring grammatical errors, they all did appear in the ‘spoken’ parts of the story, and did feel natural. Otherwise, Jennifer Snyder has a very light and breezy style: several clues are dropped ranging from creepy to merely suggesting more is happening that the characters are yet clueless about. I would have liked to see more development in the secondary characters; there were more questions at the end than in the beginning. And, while some ideas are given full flesh, several more are left unanswered and a giant cliff hanger at the end of the book will lead nicely into the next in the series.

This was a fun, quick reading paranormal with some romantic elements and lots of unexplained phenomena that get doled out in pieces like a giant puzzle. Snyder’s style is relaxed and easy to follow making the story engaging and quick to read.

I received an eBook from the publisher for purpose of honest review for the Jeep Diva. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Catalyst is a fantastic start to a new series. Addison, given up for adoption to protect her, has no knowledge of her past and the part she could play in the bigger picture. This first book covers more than just her discovering more about her birth family, it also shows how she discovers herself and a world of magic she never knew existed. She discovers that not only is there magic, but there are several kinds, and she is not sure if she really wants to have any part of it at all. Addison drew me in from page one. She is a blend of mystery and openness. I enjoyed watching her relate to her old friend, her adoptive mom (very touching), and all the new people she meets in Soul Harbor. The people of Soul Harbor are diverse. With a cliffhanger for an ending, I was left not sure of who were the good guys and who were the bad guys. While that may sound like a bad thing, it was done brilliantly and only made the characters even more intriguing. There were a few times while Addison was learning about magic and the town history that dragged just a little, but never enough to make me want to put the book down. These less exciting areas were always followed by a new revelation - about a character, about the past, or about magic. There are even a few characters that seem to be minor but show a lot of potential for expanding their standing in future books. I think this is a great start to a series that has me hooked. It is different enough to stand out, but still feels comfortable. The characters are what makes or breaks a good series, and these guys definitely make it! - See more at: http://hotofftheshelves.blogspot.com/...

Favorite Line(s) “You are safe, you are whole, you are well. Guided by the light of the Goddess and the God, may happiness come to you wherever you dwell”

“You have gorgeous eyes, has anyone ever told you that? It’s like they can’t decide if they want to be green or brown.”

“Books are word windows… Open one and see where its magick may take you.”

“Feel that?” he whispered. “That’s your magick responding to mine...in case you haven’t figured it out yet.”

What a glorious tease to what I know will be a great series! It wasn't a bad tease it was a oh yes I can't wait for me!!
Addison has just be left a house by her biological grandmother! It's a beautiful house right on the beach. Addison loves the house and the YUMMY guy that she met by the beach! Kace is shocked when his hand touches hers and he feels his Magick calling to her! Addison can't explain what she feels when she touches Kace but, she know she wants more of it!
When the kiss though that's when it really gets crazy! Kace tells her she has Magick and that there Magick calls to each other he is air and she is fire! At first Addison thinks he's a little crazy but, how she loves his lips!
To make matters a little crazier her friend Vera just decides out of the blue she has to leave! It's because someone put a Hoodoo curse that was meant for Addison!
I loved this book! It was sweet, yummy, and full of what I love about paranormal MAGICK!!
I will make sure to follow this author!

***I received a copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review***
There was a great idea to this story. Addison inherits a big old house with tons of character and secrets. She comes with her best friend Vera for the summer.
So that's where it all gets strange. She knows nothing of her biological mother (being adopted) yet she's left this house by her. Where her grandmother lived until she passed away, her mother never chose to live there.
So she doesn't get a warm reception from all the locals, some are quite cold towards her. She does attract some attention from one guy, Kace.
There is a connection between them and it seems to grow, from there he gives Addison information about herself to shock her and intrigue her.
She learns various things about her bloodline and about what and who she is. Somewhat exciting but also some scary things thrown in too.
Once the story kicks in, it seems to speed up a notch and some parts are only passed by not shown in depth. I would of liked to have seen some more of the relationship between Addison and Kace. It had such heat but we didn't get to see enough of it developing.
I was actually really getting gripped by it and loving where it was going when the end popped out of nowhere with it's annoying cliffhanger. The story was developing and I was suspicious of practically every character, plus scaring myself silly in the pitch dark. Then....Wham!!!! It finished.
It actually reminded me a little of the tv series The Secret Circle (which I loved).
Anyway, loved where this was going and can't wait for book 2. I need answers!!

Jennifer Snyder once again produces an amazing beginning to a new series. I love her writing as well as each of her awesome books. Yeah, she's that good. You NEED to check out this author. She will rock your socks off.

Okay, on to Catalyst, the first book in the tethered series. I glued my beady little eyes to the digital pages. I read and read until there was nothing left to read. It was that good.

I liked Addison as a main character. She was a great example of NA, because she was going through those pivotal moments in her life. She left home, away from her family and towards the unknown for the first time. She encounters independence, drinking, sexy guys and responsibility.

Then there was Vera. She was a cute, quirky best friend. She served her part in the book and bowed out when it was the right time. I wish I had gotten to know some of the other characters better, but this was just the beginning of the series. Kace, yummy. That's all I have to say on that.

The only disappointment I had was that thee were too many loose ends at the finish of the book. I was left with more questions than answers. I wanted a little more closure. It was one hell of a cliffhanger though.

I'm already dying to get my hands on the second installment in this series. This book gets five glittery stars for it's pure awesomeness!

Addison Harmon and her best friend head to Soul Harbor, Georgia for Summer when Addison is left a family house from her recently deceased birth mother. Having just graduated high school, she isn't sure what to do with her life and is using the trip to explore her options. This adventure allows her to find herself, as well clues to her birth mother's family past, though some mystery still remains. Addison and her best friend, Vera, quickly explore the small town and meet some of the townspeople. Not everyone is welcoming, while others greet Addison with open arms. There is a little bit of everything - mystery, paranormal, and romance to name a few which kept my attention.

Catalyst is an amazing start to a series and a must read if you like New Adult books, or even Paranormal books. While Catalyst does end somewhat abruptly, I can definitely say that I'm dying for book 2 so I can see what happens next. When I started the book I knew from the first few pages that this would be something I wouldn't be able to put down, and I was right. Jennifer Snyder managed to suck me into her world with intriguing characters and an awesome plot. I highly recommend Catalyst, and cannot wait to read more books by Jennifer Snyder.

Growing up Addison Avery Harmon figured she was just like any other child , until she was 17 and found out that she was adopted and that her biological grandmother has passed away and left Addison, her house by the beach. Addison along with her friend Vera, head to the house this summer to check it out and help Avery decide what she wants to do with it. The town though is giving off the "creepy" vibes and the readers wonder how long it will be before A) Addison is told who she really is and B) we discover what Addison is capable of and of course C) we wonder whether the prophecy at the beginning of the novel will happen now that she is back on "home turf" . It seems that in order for there to be a balance of powers , there needs to be all four elements together and now that Addison is back - power can be restored , but there is evil forces out there that doesn't want Addison to remember and wants her destroyed . Can Addison survive and learn more about Magick with the help of her new friends or will she find herself on her own ?
Find out in Book #1 of the Tethered Series - "Catalyst".

I had the lucky opportunity to read Catalyst by Jennifer Snyder before it is released. Catalyst is about a girl, Addison, who has just recently moved into her dead grandmother's house for the summer with her friend Vera. One day, Addison and Vera run into a very sexy stranger, Kace. Kace knows something about Addison that at first, he doesn't tell her. When Kace does tell Addison, she is shocked to find out that she has the ability to do magic, just like pretty much everyone else in the town does. Together, Kace and Addison explore not only each other, but the magic they are able to create together.
I have to say I really enjoyed Catalyst. It had three major aspects I love in a story. Suspense, mystery and of course, romance. I loved Addison and Kace's story simply because it had this breathtaking appeal to it. Do I recommend this book? Yes, because it shows a new aspect to magic and the world surrounding it. Jennifer will pull you in with her character's and the personalities she gives them. A must read on my part.

I recently purchased this book during a Facebook Event after the cover pulled me in. Addison is a recent high school graduate who inherits this mysterious house hours away from her adoptive home. Along with the house, comes secrets, lots and lots of secrets. With those secrets, comes the reality of meeting new people who might hold the key to finding out where she comes from and why she was put up for adoption.

This book was really well written, had a great amount of intrigue built into all the characters. I loved that Adrianne was a girl trying to figure out what the future held for her, but strong enough to embrace a new town, new people and such uncertainty. I loved the pull between her and the others in the story and how the author really leaves you wanting more. I love a book that leaves you wanting to jump right into the next and this book definitely did that. If you like magick, love, and secrets this book is perfect. I recommend this for YA/NA audiences, as there is some 18+ references throughout. I give this 5 fangs! Bring on Conjure!

*I have this book from the author with the exchange of an honest review*
The catalyst is a first book from the Tethered series.
When i first reading it, even thru most chunk of the book i thought that the plot is good but it is somewhat simple and easy to guess. When i read the book, specially the middle part of the book i kept telling myself that i know what is going on, how it will go, and so on.
However, thru the last half of the book, i must admit, it blows my mind away. The ending of the book is just a cliffhanger, and wish i could get hold of the second book ASAP just to see how it progress from here.
Overall, i think it is definitely an above average paranormal romance with a hint of mistery on it.

This was a quick fun read for me, lots of magic and mayhem with the aspect of Hoodoo thrown in. Exploration of being adopted and then the exposure to magic has Addison's head spinning trying to figure out what is going on in the small town of Soul Harbor. Throw into the mix the sexy Kace Sullivan and a resident bad boy who wants her gone for some unknown reason, Addison is struggling to survive the less than welcoming locals. It felt a bit slow in the beginning and the story did not seem to mesh together at times but there was plenty of action and magic to keep you guessing. I had to get book two to see what happened next.

Addison has just inherited a house from the birth mother she never knew. While visiting the house and trying to figure out what to do now that she has graduated high school Addison meets Kace and begins to learn about a world she never even knew existed. Although she is excited and a little nervious to learn about all there is in the Magick world, others are not as happy to have her in town and will do anything to get rid of her.

I enjoyed the concept of the story and the introduction we have gotten to the characters. I wish that it had been a little longer and gone into more details in certain areas, but overall this was a fun read. Warning it does have a cliffhanger ending.

AMAZING, FLAWLESS and of course MAGICAL ;)
Avery goes to an unknown town where she has inherited a house from her biological parents. Everything in her life seems ordinary until she meets Kace an attractive young man who helped her realise that she is not ordinary at all, that she is special ;)
An amazing journey where you can explore the magical and majestic world of the elementals.
Flawless plot and very well developed characters. Definitely a must read ;)

Once I started Catalyst, I could not put it down!!! I found the entire concept very intriguing. I really feel that this will be a great series overall. My only complaint, and it's not a huge one, is that I wish the book would have been a little longer, and the romance between Kace and Addison would have had more time to develop. I can't wait to get my hands on Conjure(book two).

This was an enjoyable read. There were some familiar elements to the story but combined in a unique way. Addison was quite believable as the popular girl hanging out with her friends the summer before college. I love any book with a vision or prophecy in the beginning, and the set-up for the next book has me waiting impatiently.

I really enjoyed this book. I wasn't sure if I was going to but I was addicted and couldn't put it down. It starts with a girl who is adopted inheriting her real grandmother's house. she meets a bunch of different people and learn that she had powers. The ending is great and left me dying for the next.

If you like the TV series Secret Circle (I say TV series because I have not read the books yet) then you will love this book. This book kept me guessing straight from the start. It flows and keeps you wanting more. The author gave this book a feel of being in the story interacting with the other characters. The characters just come to life for me.
