de Lohr Dynasty #7

Unending Love

Rate this book
1234 A.D. - For as long as she can remember, the Lady Adalind de Aston has loved Sir Maddoc du Bois. Being sent away to foster did nothing to cure her of her unending love for Maddoc, a sentiment he did not return. Years later, Adalind returns from fostering as a cultured and beautiful woman. So beautiful, in fact, that tales of her beauty are legendary and a string of hopeful suitors follow her home. Maddoc, now faced with this exquisite and refined creature, is tasked, as the captain of the army, with chasing the suitors away.

One suitor after another is turned away by Maddoc’s blade. Some go easily; some do not. Meanwhile, Maddoc has come to know Adalind on an adult level and is coming to think he has been very stupid about rejecting this sweet and beautiful woman. In fact, the more suitors that come around, the more Maddoc finds himself succumbing to Adalind’s charms and soon joins the parade of suitors. Adalind is thrilled when the man comes to his senses and offers for her hand. Finally, what she has always dreamed of will soon be hers.

But a new suitor pledges for Adalind’s hand, a cunning and powerful knight who will not be deterred by Maddoc. Maddoc and the knight face off in several fights, each one more brutal than the next, until the knight finally challenges Maddoc to the ultimate battle to the death for Adalind’s hand. A brutal battle ensues and Adalind, in her attempt to help Maddoc, ends up nearly costing the man his life. As Maddoc lays wounded, presumably dying, the challenger knight abducts Adalind and flees.

Adalind’s grandfather is the great David de Lohr, Earl of Canterbury. With Maddoc lingering near death, David gathers some of his oldest and dearest friends to help rescue his granddaughter. Christopher de Lohr (Spectre of the Sword, Archangel, The Defender), Gart Forbes (Archangel), and Maddoc’s father, Rhys du Bois (Spectre of the Sword), gather for one final battle to avenge Maddoc and save Adalind. As they prepare for the final showdown, Maddoc pulls himself from his deathbed to ride one last time to save Adalind. He seeks to free his love or die trying.

Join Maddoc, David, Christopher, Gart, and Rhys as they gather to wage war against the knight who wounded Maddoc and abducted Adalind. Unending Love in a tale of dreams, hope, dedication to duty but, most of all, a tribute to the bonds of love that cannot be broken. It’s a wild ride of adventure and non-stop action that will leave you breathless.

Almost all of her books are very well written except she does not get some of her facts correct.

Almost all of her books are well written, except for the fact that she uses words and talks about items that DID NOT EXIST during the Middle Ages. And yes, I am a history buff. One of the jobs I had when living in Virginia was working in the historical area of Williamsburg for the Colonial Willamsburg Foundation, so I do know some history. If she would check her facts about the time period she is writting about her books would be a lot better.

Kathryn Le Veque’s mediaeval romances have elements of adventure, intrigue, and danger; they rarely disappoint the reader. This one is no exception.
The love-sick child Adaline returns home a beautiful woman after years of unpleasant treatment at court, but her heart has remained with Maddoc all this time. Finally he realises he wants to marry her but another man ruins the couple’s plans. Their trials and tribulations lead the reader through a desperate journey to their HEA.
Utterly compelling and absolutely fantastic read.
Highly recommended

Magnificent!!!

I love when a book teleports you into its world. Kathryn does that to her readers. She truly has a gift. Maddoc's & Adalind's story is wonderful. I was an awe. I was serious, sad and just rooting for these characters. Loved my old heros David, Christopher, Rhys, Gart and I am looking forward to possibly Daniels story along with all the grandchildren's stories. I read unending love in one day...just loved it. When is the next book? Thank you Kathryn for sharing your gift

This book is a love story of never ending faith, as the goofy toothed little girl grows into an extremely beautiful young woman, the Lady Adalind. As she grows up, her love grows even stronger for the handsome, chivalrous, massively heroic Maddoc du Bois. As Maddoc realises what he has, he almost loses everything, but with their enduring love, they finally get their happily ever after. Kathryn as usual sets a fast pace in these times of turmoil and danger and keeps you gripped to every page. But what I loved most about this book, is the older generation, who are brought together so cleverly and humorously into this story. Christopher and David de Lohr, Daniel de Lohr, Sir Gart Forbes, Sir Rhys du Bois, all these wonderful heroic men and their sons are brought together in this one story. Although these men are older now, you can still see and feel the bond they have with each other, and still glimpse the younger and humorous men they were. It is a very emotional and poignant tale and I loved it!!

I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title.
Young woman returns home, from fosterring and a stint at Court, only to be pursued by love sick suitors, each intent on making her his wife.
However, the only man she ever loved is the Captain of the Guard of the Keep at Canterbury, her Grandfather's residence and now her home.
We meet the knight, Maddoc as a small toddler in another episode, and again as a newly knighted lad, as he renewed his acquaintance with his father, whom he believed to have been dead, killed in the quest to rescue a woman touted to be the next queen. Our young lady had haunted Maddoc, in her very young years, but now, on his return from France, and his father's family, he discovers a refined young woman, rather the gangly love besotted child.

Maddoc soon sees that the only person to be her wife, should be himself, which the lady is in full agreement, as is Lord David, her Grandfather. He only has to defend her from her suitors! And there lies the greater story.

Great ending to the series.

Adalind has loved Maddoc since she was 9 years old. She followed him around declaring her love for years, much to his dismay. When she went away to foster and then to court, returning at the age of 18, she was a beautiful grown woman. Suitors followed her home and fought over her but she only had eyes for Maddoc. This time he felt the same attraction to her. I won’t ruin the story, but will just say that it is full love, envy, abduction, fear, and lots of familiar characters from previous books, reunited again. Definitely worth reading.

Incomparable Kathryn Le Veque at her finest!

A treat as nothing could compete with... a brilliant tale that involves de Lohr, du Bois, le Foix, de Wolfe, de Norville, Hage, and de Bocage Knights and a villainous de Royans to boot! (Sure hope I spelled them all correctly!) I couldn't put it down. Adalind endured more treachery, deceit and violence before getting her HEA than anyone deserves to be put through! Loved every heart stopping moment of Adalind and Maddoc's story :)

** 35 minutes in and super high hopes. Some of the funniest dialogue/situational comedy so far. Had to go back and listen to the "bailey scene with the musical suitor" a couple times. (Audible).

** Excellent effort by KL: surprises galore; a not entirely anticipated ending; and a thorough, well thought out epilogue. Probably some of her best work.

Maddoc

The mighty knight loved all his life by the grandchild of his leige. She followed him everywhere like a puppy and professed undying love. After being sent away to foster, she returns home a beautiful woman. No longer an awkward child Maddoc sees her as a possible wife. The problem is so do many other men.

Full of Love and Excitement

The heroine has been in love with the hero since she was 9 years old and an currently is 18 years old but the hero was around 22 at the time she was 9 so the love was one-sided. Now she is 18 and extraordinarily beautiful so the love begins to be reciprocated. In the process much excitement and danger takes place. Recommend!

I first read this book in 2016, I just reread as it is my all time favorite Le Veque book that is not de Wolfe related!! The hero in this story, Maddoc du Bois has remained my unending hero since Jan 2016. He is honorable, charming without trying, brave, the list goes on. Our herion is not what she appears, she is strong, perhaps a little spoiled, but the trials she has endured, any girl can relate too when it comes to peers. One of the most endearing parts of this story for me is that Maddoc is completely taken back by what evolves between him and the heroin, Addie, and moves forward fiercly. It is the sweep you off your feet without being mushy. I can not adequately put into words why Maddoc is my swoonworthy to die for hero, you have to read it to fall in love with him. He will stay with your for certain.
Another fabulous piece to this story is that we see heros from the past decend on this story for the love of our H/H and family, honor. It is emotional and heartfelt. This story will bring you to tears, and a full out sob, it will leave you breathless and it will make you chuckle.
I highly recommend, you will not be disappointed and I have no doubt, Maddoc du Bois will have your unending love and admirataion!!!

5***** Adalind has come home after 5years away. She brings hordes of unwanted suitors that are determined to have her or die trying. Adalind is not interested in any of them the man she has loved since she was a child is the Knight in charge of her grandfather's keep. It's Maddoc's job to try and keep order and he has to throw out all the unwanted men. This gets more dangerous everyday. It doesn't help that he is jealous every time a man even looks at her. This is a beautiful love story with lots of action. With lots of epic sword fights. We also get to hear from many characters from previous books. (It won't spoil this if you haven't read them. But it might tempt you to read the others) Once again Kathryn le Veque has delivered a book that drags you in to the lives of her characters. Until you are laughing or crying with them. Great book loved it. MORE PLEASE Kathryn.
