Since UNCORKED, romantic suspense novel by Rebecca Rohman , wil put you in the right mood for a tête-à-tête with your significant other, my thoughts about the book come with 'candlelight dinner' menu and wine pairing. This contemporary debut novel, authored by indie writer Rebecca Rohman, is labeled as "romance with elements of suspense." Well, the label may not adequately describe the intensity and scope of those romantic and suspenseful elements. Apart from being an enjoyable read, I was pleasantly surprised to find more than promised by the concise synopsis and the refined, but not-so-revealing, cover artwork: suspense a-go-go and 'steam' beyond my expectations. With a profusion of well written love scenes (more in the vein of an erotic romance novel), and a sustained use of plot twists (at times predictable but nonetheless engrossing), Uncorked was a solid, well-paced, and engaging read. My only perplexities about the book (minor issues affecting mainly the first part) regard a certain stiltedness in the dialogues, but they are quite successfully resolved by the author as the story unfolds. Actually, Ms. Rohman takes the emotional intensity of the storyline to a remarkably heart-grabbing level, particularly in the final chapters. I found myself rooting for Chella and Mitch more than I initially thought I would: their love story was sweet, spicy, and 'angsty' enough to entice me and keep me captive from cover to cover. A promising debut.
I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
This is a story that will grip tight you’re heart, and leave you breathless. It’s a story about betrayal, about what true love can do to you after so many years of suffering. Rebecca Rohman wrote a story including everything. You have love scenes- and what scenes wow, you have a maniac that won’t let a girl live her life and threatens her, almost managing to kill her, you have a true lover that will fight to keep her safe. This book had my emotions scattered all over the place, but I loved it from the bottom of my heart!
Our main characters are Chella Noon and Mitch Mariani. Chella works at Sheyenne International and she is a Marketing Director, for the Teen Sassy Cosmetic Line. She has worked there since she lost her parents ten years ago. Her boss Craig Spencer was her dad’s best friend, they played golf together. Ever since then, Spencer and his wife, have taken care of Chella and has been like her family, especially Spencer, he was like a father to her. She was eighteen when her parents were killed in a tragic car accident.
Her job it’s everything for her. She just has occasional drinks with her two friends Kacy Williams and Vicky Baracle , both of whom were married with lives of their own. Chella left work earlier one day, because it was Vicky’s birthday and they were going to celebrate it at Humphreys. That night, Chella had a surprise, she met Mitch Mariani, because her friends fixed her up. They were having dinner, when their husbands arrived with a plus one. But, Mitch Mariani was a dark tall and handsome man, a fatal combination, and his eyes were a mixture of hazel and green. How could she be angry at her friends when she saw him? They were left alone, and started talking, even had something in common, tennis. When they finally decided to end the night and Mitch walked her to her room, Chelle fall and twisted her wrist. He rushed her to the hospital and stood there waiting for her for four hours. This man was a true gentleman and she didn’t know how to react. They exchanged phone numbers and decided to meet the next day. Unfortunately, Chella dropped her purse, and Mitch saw her Taser and knife. He knew something was wrong with her, just waited for her to trust him with her secrets. He could wait, because he wanted her no matter what.
Chella dated a guy ten years ago, Aaron Stewart. On her first date with Mitch she thought she saw him. That scared her and couldn’t stop the alarm in her brain, making her look over her shoulder and having little panic attacks. Mitch saw her, but what could she tell him? That she was scared, because her ex-boyfriend was a maniac that threaten to kill her and was violent?! Aaron it’s the reason she didn’t date, couldn’t have kids and was an emotional train wreck. When she was 17 years she got pregnant and Aaron flipped. After a few days, Aaron started drinking and spreading bad words about her. Then he wrote her a letter telling her he will make it all better, but Chella didn’t know what that meant. So, they left town, and she ended up in a miserable building, realizing that Aaron was telling her to have an abortion. She freaked, run but he cached her, and pushed her down the stairs. A few hours late, she woke up in an alley, alone, with her skirt filled with blood. She called her parents and ended up at the hospital. She lost the baby, and Aaron did more than that, she couldn’t have kids anymore. That day she told her parents the truth about him, and that was the last time she talked to them, because not long after that, they died.
Mitch was the first guy she went out with, they even kissed, but she couldn’t do it. The memories kept coming back and she was scarred. Even if Mitch was the perfect man, he cocked for her, they talked, he was the perfect gentleman, but her scars wouldn’t let her go much farther. The worst part it, Aaron came back and started making threats again, this time to Mitch as well. She wants to end things with him, but he doesn’t want to hear about it. Pushing people out of her life, running, protecting everyone except her, it’s what Chella has been doing the past ten years. Her life has turned into a leaving hell, ever since she met Aaron. The police can’t find him, and she can’t run anymore, she is too tired of all of this, of not being capable of having a life, a family, friends. And problems keep popping out, Aaron goes after both of them this time, and it’s worst then ever.
This book bedazzled me! I loved the characters, especially Mitch. That is a perfect man. He stood right next Chella the entire time, all she did was trying to run. I kind of get her, and the scarred part, but at some point I wanted to get into the story and give her a slap to open her eyes, because she was losing Mitch because of her insanity. Also, Aaron really annoyed me. How could you hurt so many people? Didn’t he have a conscience? He was a really sick bastard and he got what he deserved. But the book was magnificent. The whole story captivated me, with all the twists that rarely left me breathing. One second I was thinking, finally some happiness for this two, and the next minute something new happened. This two, Mitch and Chella really suffered from the agony of a mad man. But the love they had, it’s impossible to destroy. I wish I could read more books like these, because I really couldn’t find a single thing that I didn’t liked. So, with all these being said, thank you Rebecca Rohman for this great opportunity to read you’re book! This is one of the books that I want to have on my shelf, to read it whenever I feel the need the most perfectly story ever! I highly recommend this book!

This was an interesting story that approaches a very difficult topic in a captivating way. I found myself wanting to know more and more about the lives of these interesting characters and the trials that they faced. I was scared for the characters, yet at the same time thrilled to see how much they accomplished, and how well they were able to overcome everything that came at them.
Some of the conversation and dialogue in this novel seems rather forced and unnatural. It is not written the way that real people speak. There were also some spelling, grammatical, and formatting errors that I found to be a little distracting. Also, although this was a really interesting story, I felt that it kept circling through the same events in dilemma, albeit in slightly different ways.
The characters in this novel were in some ways very well developed, and in others, not so much. Their personalities and character traits were very well developed. You got to know them very well and could identify with them. That said, their physical appearances were left almost completely up to the imagination of the reader. I found it rather distracting in a romance novel.
As a whole, this was an interesting novel that I did enjoy reading. It was a nice first out from the author.
Please note that I won this book through Goodreads First Reads program.
I have to say I really love Ms Rohman's writing style. Each paragraph, sentence and chapter has just enough description to keep you hanging, wanting to read more. Ms Rohman has avoided the angsty backwards and forwards story line where you just want to bang the character's heads together. Don't get me wrong this story is jam packed full of drama, action, love, lust and mystery. But Ms Rohman's writing style kept the story moving without lingering story lines.
Chella Noon has masterfully kept her life nomadic, always moving on when her past catches up with her. That is until she meets Mitch Mariani who turns her methodical well planned life upside down.
Uncorked is a one step forward two paces backwards story for poor Chella. She plays each day trying to maintain a life that is safe. Every time the demons of her past threaten those she loves, instinctively Chella puts a distance between them all in the hope of keeping them safe.
Chella's journey is full of highs and lows, pain and sorrow...but ultimately Uncorked tells the story of one young woman's struggle to exorcise her past, finally find her self worth and her right to love and be loved.
A powerfully told story that shows that closure is always possible no matter what life throws at us. A definite to be added to you To Read List. No disappointment here! Grab your copy now!
Uncorked is not a typical romance novel. It's full of suspense, and twists and turns. This book kept me on my toes. Just when you thought, you have it all figured out or things would calm down, another piece of the story is revealed and you have to keep going. The emotion between Chella Noon & Mitch Mariani was beautifully written. This book had me shedding tears with the characters. The pressure built just like the pressure in a bottle of good Champagne. Uncorked opened up emotions each character didn't know they had or tried to resist. This is going on my favorites shelf. Well done!!!
Thank you goodreads giveaway and Rebecca Rohman for the opportunity to read Uncorked. At first I didn't think I was going to like it, however once the plot thickened a little, I enjoyed it. It had enough suspense that I wanted to see how it ended. Was a quick read once I got into the story line.
I was given this book as an ARC for an honest review. I gave this book 5 stalking stars ;)
This is Chella and Mitch's story.
From the outside Chella looks like she has it all. A strong life, a great job, wonderful friends. The only thing that her friends seem to think that she is missing is a man. But Chella is not interested in a man. She has had problems for the last ten years from her ex. A man that has not left her alone but has stalked her for years and made her life miserable and the only thing she seems to be able to do is move to get away from him, she doesn't have a car or a lease on her apartment. She tries to stay under the radar as much as possible. This man makes her life a living hell.
She meets Mitch, through her friends of course and goes on a few dates with him and tries to push him away, but Mitch is harder to deter then the other men she has been with. He wants to get to know her. And he will stop at nothing to let her know that she is safe.
Go on this journey with Chella and Mitch and watch them as they fall in love, even with all the horrible stuff that is going on around them, her ex is not going to leave them alone without a fight. A fight that Mitch is willing to stand by her side and fight. Chella will learn that not everyone leaves, she will learn that sometimes you gotta stay to make things ok. She will learn that sometimes love will conquer all. But when her ex really does not give up, will it be enough to just have love? Will Mitch stay when it gets really hard and other people that he loves start to get hurt? Will Chella sit back and let all this happen, it's one thing for her to get hurt and have to run, it is another for her friends and the people that she loves.
I loved this book, I loved Mitch. He was so good to Chella and was someone that listened to her, he protected her and he learned to love her. He made promises to her that he would always be by her side and always love her. Chella had up walls and was a little more of a nut to crack, but once she trusted she learned to let Mitch love her the way she was suppose to be loved all along.
This poor couple goes through hell and back, and just when you think it is over something else happens to them. I was on the edge of my seat and not wanting to put the book down at all.
Thank you for your amazing story Rebecca, I can't wait to read what you have coming up next!! <3
Uncorked took my emotions for a ride. One minute I’m happy, next I’m so angry I almost through my kindle across the room, but then I would be sad where I felt like bawling my eyes out. There were also times I looked around to make sure no one could read it while I blushed like a school girl.
Rebecca Rohman’s writing makes you feel what they feel, and I think she did real well mixing all those emotions together to make a great story.
I have to say I have a deep book crush on Mitch Mariani! He’s sexy, sweet, and willing to do what it takes to keep his woman.
Now Aaron… I can think of a few things I want to do with him, and there not pretty. Chella was pretty cool too, I got a little tired of how she kept pushing Mitch away, but I could understand why.
Uncorked is packed with romance, suspense, and some HOT love-making! I recommend this book to all of you who love a good Romance.

I liked this book a lot it sometimes had me on edge wanting to know what happened and had a lot of omg did that just happen moments, I loved Mitch he is so good for chella , this book was exciting with sexy and swoon thrown into the mix well done Rebecca great read recommended to all you romance lovers who like danger and suspense twists
Well... I think I've found a new favourite author. And genre. The synopsis states that Uncorked is "a contemporary romance with elements of suspense". The suspense is definitely there, and so is the romance. There never seemed to be a dull moment in Uncorked. There was always something happening and I was constantly trying to predict what was going to happen next. The story had a great pace and there didn't seem to be any "down time" moments.
Chella Noon is a very strong minded and independent woman. She loves her job, and work is her top priority. As her parents have passed away, her boss and his wife are the closest thing to family that she has. But Chella has a secret. One that she has kept from everyone that is close to her to keep them out of harms way. A secret that causes her to constantly pack up and move. A secret that has kept her from living life, and finding love. That is, until she was set up with Mitch.
Mitch Mariani is also strong minded. He is a successful business man, and goes after what he wants. Throughout the story, we learn that Mitch is also caring, protective, sensitive and ever so patient. It was in no way smooth sailing for Mitch and Chella. Chella's secret soon caught up with her throwing a tonne of obstacles in the way of their happiness.
Uncorked kept me riveted to the story the whole way through. It kept me guessing, kept me hoping and got me frustrated. The characters were believable and easy to connect with. There was always something happening. The feelings between Chella and Mitch were tangible. The sex scenes were tasteful and HOT! Ms Rohman certainly knows how to create a story that sucks you in to it!
I read Uncorked immediately after reading an ARC of her latest novel - A Problematic Love. It is clear that Ms Rohman certainly has a pattern with her writing. Besides the fact that her stories are full of twists and turns that keep you guessing, she also writes very strong, independent and business minded main female characters, and her male lead characters are just as strong minded and also protective. Oh, and Ms Rohman certainly knows how to write a sex scene!
I highly recommend giving Uncorked a read if you haven't already!
Wow! This book will devour you! This is not just your ordinary romance story. It has suspense, twists and turns and keeps you one the edge of your seat! You feel emotionally connected to the main characters. The story is written very well! I love reading a book that makes you feel every emotion and this book delivered!
The book is about a woman named Chella Noon who keeps to herself, doesn't go out much, works 24/7 and only has a hand full of friends. Her reason in doing so is she hides from her past. She has lost her parents and has suffered from the hands of her crazy psycho boyfriend who stalks her. So she doesn't date and has no love interest because she doesn't want anyone to get hurt. Chellas only two close friends want to see her be happy and live a full life. So they set her up to meet someone, which Chella has no idea what was going on at the time. In walks Mitch. There first night meeting ended with a trip to ER. (You will have to read the story to know why!:)) Anyhow from the first night in meeting Mitch proved to be the perfect guy. He stood by Chella's side when she was being stubborn and when she tried to run. Mitch was such a great guy and stuck it out with Chella although he put his life in risk. You could tell how much he loved and care for her.
The story will suck you in as you read it! When you think you figured it out something else would happen and that kept me turning the pages to see how it ended. When I said her ex boyfriend is psycho I was not lying! He was sick and twisted!
Needless to say this book had everything in it! Romance, Suspense, Heartache, Happiness and so much more! By the end of the book I felt like I just got off of a roller coaster but loved every minute of the ride!:) This was my first book to read by Rebecca Rohman and I am a fan!
I look forward to reading more of her books! This book is a stand alone and I HIGHLY recommend it!:)
In Uncorked,Chella Noon is set up by her friends with Mitch Mariani. The two as a couple have some great chemistry but their relationship is challenged by a psycho ex from Chella's past. She has lived a shell of a life, constantly moving and finding it hard to set up roots due to the threat her ex has posed. Her chemistry and feelings for Mitch are causing her to rethink her life of solitude.
Mitch, company owner, hot guy, appears to be perfect for Chella. He wants to be Chella's protector and that makes him even better. But Mitch has his own issues and secrets which can threaten their new relationship. Add into the equation a mother who is beyond belief in the way she treats the women Mitch dates, and it only complicates the situation further.
The book does have elements of suspense sprinkled throughout and at times you wonder what could possibly happen next. My problem was that it seemed to be a never ending issue. There were times when I was reading, thinking, "ok this has to be the climax", but no, the story just kept going. I began to wonder how many possible issues Mitch and Chella would have to deal with. The repeated drama over secrets kept and trusting of each other just kept recurring too often.
I definitely did ride a rollercoaster of emotions with this book and there were certain characters I truly enjoyed. Unfortunately the ride just went a little too long for my liking. On the plus side, though I didn't get the timeline, the long ride did allow for an epilogue that provided a great update and a perfect way to end the story.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I've long been a fan of Rebecca's and have loved every other book she's written. I had never read her very first book though, until now.
It's nothing short of what I have come to expect from her. A beautiful story with romance and suspense; tons of plot twists and lots of steam!
Mitch is such a fantastic character, you find yourself falling a little bit in love with him yourself. He's charming, polite and tenacious, which serves him well up against the very stubborn Chella.
Chella has essentially lived the life of a vagabond hermit for the last decade, due to a stalker ex boyfriend. She doens't get romantically involved more than a night here or there and has very few people she trusts.
The two of them together are fantastic. They are Yin and Yang, and balance each other perfectly. Their story flows without any lapses, and you want to skip to the end just to find out what happens. But you have to read everything or you'll miss so much!
Since I read her other books first, going back to her very first, I can't tell that this is her debut. Rebecca has such a seamless writing style, which has made her one of my go-to authors. If you are looking for a fantastic, enthralling plot, pick this or any of her books up. You won't be sorry!
What happens when the man of your dreams walks into your life, but your life is anything but normal or safe for that matter. You'll push him away, but he'll fight tooth and nail to stay with you. But when the danger surrounding you threaten the one person he loves above all else, will he still stay and fight or will he run and never look back?
Uncorked is thrilling, suspenseful, complicated, heartwarming, hopeful, and at the heart of it, love. And although the journey is fraught with danger at every turn, but the sexual tension between Chella and Mitch will keep you glued to each passing page.
The reader will be taken on an emotional ride that is both intriguing and sensual. It will have you laughing, crying, screaming, and falling in love. Rebecca has a knack for making a reader cry ugly tears, but in the end she always leaves you with a smile, hope for the future and whole lot of love.
I received this book from author in exchange for an honest review.
I loved this book. While I was reading it there were many moments where I felt that I could relate to Chella and Mitch.
There were many situations where I was reading and would have a "What" feeling, there was so much that would happen that I didn't see coming. There were many turns that kept me guessing and kept me hooked so that I had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen. It kept me going to try and figure out who was doing everything until the end.
I also loved reading the ups and downs for these two. I always had to keep reading to see how they were going to manage to get through each of them.
This is the second book I have read by Rebecca Rohman and I understand this was the first book she wrote, the story is very well written and I made a deep connection with Chella & Mitch throughout the whole story.
I really enjoyed this book from start to finish, the story takes you on a wild journey of twists, betrayal, love and contains lots of emotional drama.
The story contains some very sensitive issues, from serious staking matters to miscarriage, Rebecca has written these subject matters with a lot of thought.
I would recommend this book for those who enjoy a real deep love story that is not straight forward and takes you an amazing emotional ride.
Five stars! This is Rebecca Rohman's first book ... I, of course, read this one third ... it's a stand alone book so don't worry if you haven't read it or you didn't read it first!
while I could tell it was her first book, that in NO WAY diminished the wow factor of this book. I thoroughly enjoyed this book ... from beginning to end Chella and Mitch frustrated me sometimes with their Stubbornness but they also made me care about them ... i laughed & cried, i felt fear, anger, apprehension, confusion and worry throughout this story...what a ride!
I think this book was a great break-out novel for Rebecca. It was well written the characters were likable, and well developed just as the story was, great sex between the main characters and a lot of angst and build up of suspense as the book continues on. Do not miss this read, you will be sorry. I am not really good at reviews, but I like this book and wanted to encourage people not to miss out on a good first novel!!! I see a great future for this writer and will continue to buy her books!
Suspense, steamy romance, sexy male, what more can you ask for. Another exciting and steamy story by one of my favourite authors. Chella and Mitch are set up by their friends. Chella had a harrowing 10 years and tries to keep her distance but Mitch won't be put off. Lots of disasters and accidents throughout the story. Mitch is the "red hot lover". Loved the story, page turner from start to finish.
WOW, what a great read. I was pulled in from the first page to the last. Loved both Chella and Mitch's characters and Rebecca's writing style. This book takes you on a rollercoaster ride full of twists and turns that you don't expect, it's captivating reading. There is everything you can wish for in a book, love hot sex, intrigue, lies and deception even a stalker. 5*** stunning stars.
Well, never a dull moment in this book. I was full of suspense. I couldn't wait to pick the book up again too see what happened next. I was heartwarming, heartbreaking and it was hot and sexy. Chella and Mitch were great characters. Loved the epilogue.
Great read! I am a huge fan of Rebecca's and yet again here is another great story from her. Chella is such a strong character and I really like that in female leads, she is very likeable.Mitch is just all sorts of yummi maleness. The story is good and you are kept intrigued throughout.
I loved Uncorked by Rebecca Rohman. The story has the just the right amount of romance and suspense. Chella and Mitch have a great story to tell and keep the reader enthralled while they tell it. I didn't want to put the book down. Not only will you love the story, but you will fall in love with the characters.
Very enjoyable read. There is a lot of suspense and drama. You will be thinking what could happen next!? Those poor characters :) Mitch, Chella, and all of the other characters are well developed and likable.
My only issue is that is just doesn't seem as fast paced as I would like.
Wow I love your writing Rebecca The suspense, and romance is unbelievable couldn’t put it down Thanks for an amazing read cant wait to read your next one
I've been a big Rebecca Rohman fan since one of my reading groups read Love, Lives and The D.A. a few years ago. And in that time I have read every other book this author has published, except Uncorked. Not sure why it took me this long to go back and read her debut but I am glad I finally did.
I loved that the intensity was there from page one and didn't let up until the very end. I love me a good romantic suspense story- and while we knew who was responsible for most of it, trying to figure out the other person involved in the fiasco surrounding Chella had my mind going in a few different directions- all of them turned out to be wrong!
I felt for Chella and the awful predicament she found herself in all for trusting the wrong person years ago. She is beyond selfless even when her own happiness takes the hit. Her life has been nothing but looking over shoulder and avoiding getting close to anyone. Until one Mitch Mariani is put into her world. I really admired Mitch's patience and persistence in trying to woo Chella. Even when she kept shooting him down and pushing him away (for his own good according to her). Through all his advances and her rejections, their feelings continued to grow for one another- I let out a happy, relieved sigh when Chella FINALLY came to her senses and decided to let Mitch in. And then my heart broke as I learned the tale of all that she had suffered. With their budding relationship things got even more muddled for Chella. It was danger on top of eye popping shock on top of one twist on top of another turn. And don't even get me started on Mitch's mother!
I felt Uncorked, for all its wonderful intensity, could've ended a few times before it actually did. It was as if ideas kept sparking into Rohman's head and she had to work it into the book somehow. However, it wasn't like one of those movies you watch and go come-on! End already! Everything layered together to keep my heart pounding and my eyes glued to my kindle. I did not want to put this one down even when the device kept slipping from my tired hands. And oh my goodness- the ending- both of them- WOW!!! I didn't see that coming at all but it was so perfectly suited to everything Mitch and Chella had been through and overcome and it left me nodding my head-yes.
