Rate this book
Historical Even after overcoming social stigmas, prejudices, and presumptions, three people of the early 1800s are most threatened when they nearly sabotage their romances from within. Lord Nicholas is determined to cut himself off from the world when he catches love literally falling from a tree; Katherine Montbatten's decision that vengeance is hers and not the Lord's almost costs her true love; and when Helen Nichols deceives a duke, she will need to tell the truth, for love's sake. But their stories prove that human folly is no match for God's plan.

First of all, I just want to say that I love Jane Austen, and I was so pleasantly surprised when I read in the author's note that the novels of Jane Austen inspired her writing in this book! I love time period, I love the Christian undertones, I love the clean love story, and of course I love spotting characters that resemble those from Jane Austen's beloved novels. I recognized a Darcy, a Mrs. Bennet, a Lady Catherine, and an Emma. It was such fun!

1. The Vicar's Daughter: This story is about Christina, a simple country vicar's daughter who loves animals and sees it as her Christian duty to help her neighbor find God. Her neighbor is this torn up man, who lost his father and brother and is now the guardian to his brother's son. He is bitter, angry, and he wants to spend his life brooding about his misfortunes.

2. The Engagement: Katherine has been jilted and is now the mockery of the Ton. Her cousin, Theodora and her plot to then sabotage the reputation of a relative to the person who jilted her. Only problem is that Theodora becomes more interested in the vindication than Katherine does.

3. Remember Me: On a voyage to America a Duke from England and a pastor from Scotland get washed a shore, the Duke lives but has amnesia and people think that he is the new pastor for their town. One person knows who he really is but she decides not to tell hims so she can have a better chance of winning his heart.

All three stories have wonderful, likable characters that find God and love. Each stories is about 110 pages long the stories and characters are intertwined. I absolutely loved this book, it is one of my favorite novellas and I have read over 50!

Three very sweet romances, I go into books blind so I didn’t realize they were Christian romances which I’m not the biggest fan of but that’s on me. I liked all the stories my only big issue was how quickly everything wrapped up in each of them, I’d swear I had just reached the climax of the story and then would realize I only had 4 pages left.

In The Vicar's Daughter, Christina Wakelin helps the Earl of Kenswick to re-enter the world. He hsas isolated himself from people in general and is wasting away in his own guilt and sorrow - until Christina enters his life with a flash and a bang. She feels sorry for the young Earl who is so obviously distanced from God and makes it her mission to help him see that God loves him. . .no matter how hard he tries to drive her away. When she sticks to him, ignoring his blatant rudeness, he starts to thaw. . .and then starts to fall for the bright and cheerful Vicar's Daughter. When his Aunt visit's him, can their tenuous relationship survive her censure?

The Engagment sees Lady Kathrine (spurrned fiancee of Nicholas, Earl of Kenswick) in the mood for - revenge. . .Lord Thomas Thornton returned from a ghastly voyage at sea to find that his wife, Anne, had died, leaving him widowed with a young son. He is in the hunt for a mother for his child. When Kathrine seems to be pursuing him he is delighted. He has always liked the ex-fiancee of his brother and finds himself falling fast for her. Kathrine is terrified when she starts to care for the object of her revenge. What will she do now? She feels so guilty for what she thought to do. . .Kathrine is sure that God is punishing her for her wickedness. When she decides not to continue with her plan can she escape from the web she has woven? Can Thomas and Kathrine's love survive the shaky ground of lies on which it is built?

Remember Me. . .Helen. The Duke of Nothingshire - or "North" as he is more commonly known - has lost his memory. He knows nothing of who he is - how wealthy and important. He thinks (from what others have told him) that he is a preacher that is destined for a small town in Louisiana. So he travels there - and runs into Helen Nichols. She seems to know him and he clings to that like a life line. He asks her about his past - what does she know!? To Helen (a poor farmer's daughter) the allure of the lie is too much. She tells him that he is the preacher. . .thinking that when he is in the same class as her he will be able to get to know her and maybe, just maybe, return the feelings she has for him. What will Helen do when North starts to remember who he is?

In these three novels Love conquers. . .breaking through social barriers and invading hearts of both the aristocracy and peasant classes. . .will these people resist the pull of love? Or will they embrace the love of their life, whom God has fashioned just for them. . .?

This is a three for one book. The first story is "The Victor's Daughter". Christina Wakelin, the vicar's daughter is a mischievous girl. She is trying to rescue a cat up a tree on Lord Nicholas Kenswick's estate when the Lord shows up and she falls from the tree into his arms. Will this lead to love between a nobleman and a commoner? The second story is "The Engagement". Katherine Montbatten has been humiliated when the Earl of Kenswick brakes their engagement. She is out for revenge. When the Earl's younger brother Thomas returns from sea and falls in love with her. Will Katherine go through with her plan to spite the Earl's family? Or does she love Thomas enough to return his love? The third story is "Remember Me". The Duke of Kent is traveling to America and befriends a preacher, but a storm sweeps them both overboard. The Duke is rescued but has lost his memory. He is mistaken for the preacher and he travels to Louisiana to pastor a local church. He really doesn't feel like a preacher but tries his best to do the job. He meets a girl, Helen whom seems quite familiar. She recognizes him from England, as she's been in love with him for a long time. But he is nobility and she in a commoner, so she tells him he is the preacher Hamish Campbell. He falls in love with her. What will happen when his memory comes back and he finds out she lied to him about who he is? They were all good stories.

Wish all four books in series had been included as I think I had the fourth book somewhere....once....a long time ago and now think I gave it away. I also have some issue with the re-occurring "thought drowned to death" situation and the last book having it seem like the heroines lies where a part of Divine plan? If I am wrong in that interpretation please tell me. So, loved 2 out of 3 books with the third being so-so.

Despite being sappy, mushy, and sentimental, this was a fun read! The three couples in this book seemed determined to sabotage their own romances. I enjoyed all three stories, but would only recommend them to someone who enjoys a story where there is an abundance of staring into each other's eyes:P

Rated PG for some sensuality.

The first story, The Vicar's Daughter, was by far my favorite of the three. The Engagement I didn't like much at all—in fact, I kind of had to force myself to read it. The last one, Remember Me, was pretty good as well, though.

This book was a little too cheesy for my taste. She used the phrase ""stared deeply into each other's eyes"" at least twice in each of the 3 stories. It just lacked depth. It was a quick read at least!
