An unrivalled champion, The Hunter is a blue blooded stallion, who has sired a dynasty of thoroughbred racehorses that run on every continent of the world.
When Joe Grace agrees to carry out a favor for business associate, Sam Landy, horse breeder and owner of the legendary Hunter, he comes up against a select group of men at the top of the worldwide racing industry.

Among them is Guy Steer, a man who is as ruthless as he is wealthy.

Joe risks his personal wealth in order to infiltrate Steer’s inner circle and unmask the truth behind the death of a former jockey who had ridden The Hunter to success. In a world where a nod of the head means another million and the only people that won’t betray you are those who are dead, Joe finds he has risked much more than money as he soon becomes the one who is hunted.

In the nail-biting race to the finish, this sequel to Red Contract is shot through with all the power and danger of big money and an insider knowledge of horses and gambling, where losers are instantly forgotten and winners take all.

About the author

Peter Wilben

7 books
Peter Wilben is the pen name of acclaimed Irish author Peter Cunningham.

In 1982 while on holidays in Antigua Peter’s briefcase was stolen. He spent the next 14 days locked in his room, writing the first 25,000 words of Noble Lord. It’s a thriller about a man who goes on holidays, has his briefcase stolen and stumbles on a plot by terrorists to assassinate the Queen at the Epsom Derby. A few months later, Peter was offered a publishing contract. He has been a full-time writer ever since.

With a distinguished career spanning over thirty years, Peter is best known for his Joe Grace thrillers, originally a paperback series, now exclusively re edited and re-released online.

The books are set in the ruthless world of high finance, and as a former trader, who worked on Wall Street in its heyday, it is Peter’s insider knowledge that makes him the master of the financial thriller.

The central her is Joe Grace, a trans-Atlantic Irishman with the Midas touch when it comes to investing, but who also has the knack of landing into trouble. Joe’s moral compass is very clear, something that doesn’t always play well with the money moguls he does business with on Wall Street, or in London, or Hong Kong. Joe’s investors trust him with their money and he repays that trust. But people — bad people — try to take advantage of Joe for their own selfish and evil reasons. These bad people, who are often respected figures at the pinnacle of their firms or professions, want to get their hands on the money Joe has been entrusted with. They try to use Joe to advance their own warped agendas. It is a classic confrontation of good versus evil, of greed and a lust for power against the cry for justice. The result is a series of spine-chilling adventures.

On witnessing the dramatic changes occurring in the publishing industry over the past number of years, Peter saw an opportunity to find new readers online for his books.

While many authors, even those of a younger generation, are reluctant to forgo print and embrace digital, the independent re release of the Joe Grace novels as an ebook only series represents the empowerment of authors in the digital age.

Peter lives in County Kildare, Ireland, with his wife, Carol, a Jungian psychoanalyst, with whom he has six children.

Very enjoyable. I was a bit disappointed when I realized that the other books weren't horse race related.
