Unkiss Me

Rate this book
A woman retells her long-term relationship in the form of Bikram yoga. A girl recounts the protracted breakup of her parents' marriage while she and her sister invented dark games in their grandparents' attic. A young couple explores sex and drugs on the fringes of a desert community. A man obsesses over his new love while tending to his aging mother.

These seven tales, many of which are prize winners and republished from literary journals, explore love in its many guises: the irrational, the obsessive, the sexy, the damned.

Whether you’re a lover, a fighter, a player or a writer, there’s something for you in this little e-chapbook, Unkiss Me. Seven stories of love gone awry, love’s redemption, and love’s twists, turns and complications.

This is a solid collection of stories by Portland writer Suzy Vitello. The stories are written in strikingly different styles--there's something for everyone. My favorite was 26 Poses (hilarious yoga pose titles, engaging story) and Unkiss Me and Return Me to the Dwarfs which evoked childhood innocence and the way our world can be turned on its head by the adults in our lives.

I'd read one of the stories from this anthology previously. 26 Poses is truly amazing, and holds up to several re-readings.

I love the dark places the author takes us to in these not-so-typical love stories.
