It was supposed to be an easy assignment. When Jordan Vollenchik’s commanding officer ordered him to befriend the major’s teenage daughter, he was only supposed to give her some friendly male attention to ease Libby’s broken heart. The twenty-three-year-old Air Force staff sergeant wasn’t supposed to fall in love with Libby. Now, they have to hide their relationship, which is almost the hardest thing they’ve done. The only thing harder would be ignoring how they feel and going separate ways. Of course, if Libby finds out why they met, that might be the end of their relationship, even if the major doesn’t find out they are dating…
John's boss asks him to befriend his daughter Libby to help her get over a bad breakup, and he's determined to not let his boss down. Once John and Libby meet, the sparks start flying pretty quickly on both sides. That wouldn't seem like a big deal, but you see, John's in the Air Force. He's a Staff Sargent, and Libby's dad (a major) is his commanding officer. Oh, and he was ordered to only befriend her because SHE'S ONLY 17 YEARS OLD! Did I mention that John is 23? Yeahhh... Okay. I actually liked this book. The age thing doesn't actually bother me because John and Libby really do have a lot in common.
The hero was an idiot to do a favor for his boss. Especially when you are dealing with an emotional 'teenager' who just got out of a break-up. I instantly enjoyed the chemistry between the two but I knew it would be one big uh-oh.
I thought the characters were annoying and short sighted. I really wanted to say at some point What The??? I felt bad about their dilemma but realized the author stayed true to form on how immature Libby really was. I get that we love to see HEAs but it doesn't always fit.
