Slater Vance #1

Memory Lapse

Rate this book
In the town of Charleston, Slater Vance has his life situated exactly as he wants it: his private Investigation firm, Exposed Inc., is successful and keeps him knee-deep in other people's misfortunes; his love life is causal, no heavy entanglements - the only exception is Bennie, his crusty old secretary. And when his brother, the Father, beseeches him to help a woman who'd lost her memory in an automobile accident, he can't refuse.

For reasons he can't explain, Slater is confused but intrigued by the mysterious woman with no memory. It seems the more he discovers about her, the less he actually knows. Things come to a head in a startling way when her husband comes to claim her. Slater knows first-hand what evil lies in the hearts of men. But will he be able to save the mysterious woman before the evil destroys them all?

This review is from: Memory Lapse: A Slater Vance Novel (Paperback)

Prepare to be treated to a fast paced thrilling story, you'll be baffled and so engrossed you'll keep on guessing who'd done it yet you'll never guess it right. I meant to just read about 30% of this as it was already late when I started, also in desperate need to grab some much needed sleep ( been up till wee hours reading for the last 3 nights ) but boy, did it grab all my senses, I couldn't put it down. I just have to get all the answers to this mystery or I know I would be awake all night thinking about it.

A nerve shattering chain of events had Slater Vance scrambling for cover, desperate to ensure his brother Tucker's safety and solve the mystery of the amnesiac woman they thought was a prostitute named Honey Luscious and whom his brother (a priest ) has taken under his wing. Giving in to Tucker's wishes , Slater agreed to let Honey Luscious stay in house to help, and that was just the beginning of his nightmare. The more Slater thought he knew who was behind all this the more things spiraled out of control, nothing makes sense anymore .

This story also centers on the true caring and great love and respect between Slater and his brother Tucker. There are poignant moments where it drove home and hit me straight in the heart and made me missed my older brother I had tears in my eyes. It's rare that I come across an action filled story with a lot of touching emotional scenes that stirs up sad and good memories and would warm your heart.
