Anna Durand is a bestselling, multi-award-winning author of contemporary and paranormal romance. Her books have earned bestseller status on every major retailer and wonderful reviews from readers around the world. But that’s the boring spiel. Here are some really cool things you want to know about Anna!

Born on Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, Anna grew up moving here, there, and everywhere thanks to her dad’s job as an instructor pilot. She’s lived in Texas (twice), Mississippi, California (twice), Michigan (twice), and Alaska—and now Ohio.

As for her writing, Anna has always invented stories in her head, but she didn’t write them down until her teen years. Those first awful books went into the trash can a few years later, though she learned a lot from those stories. Eventually, she would pen her first romance novel, the paranormal romance Willpower, and she’s never looked back since.

Prepare to be enthralled by the enthralling world of Cyneric, skilfully crafted by the talented Anna Durand and brought to life through the mesmerising narration of fan-favourite Brit, Shane East. This audiobook is an absolute delight from start to finish, leaving you completely immersed in a captivating tale of danger, obsession, and the power of love.

Cyneric, an unstable vampire torn between two realms, embarks on a tumultuous journey that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Anna Durand weaves a complex web of emotions and desires, drawing us deep into Cyneric's struggle for control and his relentless search for the object of his obsession. As he teeters on the brink of madness, the stakes become higher than ever before.

Shane East's solo narration is nothing short of remarkable. His smooth sonorous voice, rich with emotion, flawlessly captures the essence of Cyneric's character. From the first word to the last, Shane's performance radiates with intensity, bringing the enigmatic vampire to life in vivid detail. He effortlessly embodies Cyneric's torment, his seductive prowess, and the vulnerability that lies beneath his immortal exterior. Shane’s brilliantly showcases various accents in this narration including my favourite being Australian – it’s flawless and I love how Anna weaves those into her books, which adds further depth and dimension to the story but also showcases the depth and dimension in Shane’s acting capability – he’s amazing.

Anna's decision to present the story exclusively from the hero's point of view adds a refreshing twist to the Undercover Elementals series. Through Cyneric's eyes, we delve deeper into his inner struggles, witnessing the clash between his monstrous nature and his yearning for salvation. The narrative unfolds with seamless pacing, keeping the suspense alive and the listener fully engaged.

The chemistry between Cyneric and the fearless mortal who becomes his unexpected saviour: Amanda is electrifying. Their connection crackles with tension, and their journey together is filled with surprises and heart-pounding moments. Anna expertly balances the paranormal elements with the steamy romance, creating an irresistible blend that leaves you yearning for more.

Cyneric is a true masterpiece that showcases Anna Durand's gift for storytelling and Shane East's exceptional talent as a narrator. This audio gem shines brightly in the world of paranormal romance, offering an immersive experience that will leave you breathless. Whether you're a fan of the Undercover Elementals series or a newcomer to Anna Durand's work, this audiobook is an absolute must-listen.

Prepare to be seduced, enthralled, and utterly captivated by the brilliance of Cyneric. Dive into this paranormal romance and let Shane East's smooth sonorous voice guide you through a tale that will leave you craving for more. All the stars!

'You'll be sucked and seduced into this story by the vampire who will want more than just your heart. Cyneric goes from creep to charming in this adventurous story about redemption and revealing the truth' - The British Bibliophile

Thank you to Anna Durand for sending me an ebook Advanced Readers Copy for me to read and leave an honest review, as part of her ARC team

Cyneric is book seven in Anna Durand's Undercover Elementals series, and the second book in the series I've had the pleasure of reading. I jumped right into this series with the book before this one, The Thirteenth Fae , which is book six in the series. Jumping mid-way or towards the end of the series is a tricky thing for any reader when not familiar with the series as a whole or the characters within it, but with The Thirteenth Fae it wasn't too hard of a task to get up to speed. Anna always explains the characters in each of her books, including who is who, who is with who, and who comes from where. You're quickly made aware of all of this with minimal-to-no confusion.

At first, I rated The Thirteenth Fae four stars but after reading and having time to think before writing my review for that, I bumped it up to the five stars it deserved. Likewise with Cyneric , I have also at the time of this review rated it four stars, but that could all chance post-review. Still new to this twist on the paranormal/supernatural with Anna, the time to think about the books post-read has often changed my mind as to the rating. My review will of course be updated should I change my mind, as the factor which changed my mind was not Anna's writing--which is always top-notch--but instead my change in attitude towards a genre and subsequent tropes which I have grown more used to as a reader. My go-to not usually lies with the paranormal/supernatural, though reads like The Thirteenth Fae and Cyneric are slowly changing that.

From the trope revel on Anna's social media, there was no shadow of a doubt that I was going to love this read regardless of my go-to trope tastes, or unfamiliarity of this series. As a former reader of dozens of YA stories with vampires--and sometimes werewolves--in them, I was more than willing to give the adult version of those kinds of stories a try here with Cyneric . Those tropes were (included with a few of my own):

✔ Vampire
✔ Strangers to Lovers
✔ Mortal & Immortal
✔ Steamy Romance
✔ Paranormal
✔ Hero's POV
✔ Mature Heroine
✔ Redemption
✔ Beauty & The Beast
✔ Tortured Hero

As I said, what's not to be attracted to with those? And those are just the tropes I managed to list before I even read it and I can confirm that every single one of those is in there, and has been written brilliantly by Anna herself. Of course, there will be more tropes that will jump out of the page to other readers that didn't to myself. Have fun discovering those, folks!

Cyneric has made an appearance, according to other readers, in books prior to The Thirteenth Fae , where according to them he was portrayed as the villain. In that case, this is one hundred percent his redemption story. Even without as much background context into his prior appearances in the series, it was clear to me when reading this book, that it was a chance to clear up any misconceptions about his character. A chance for his story to be told and the truth--to both Cyneric and the reader--to come out about the origin of everything that he is. I liked this element of the story very much, and for once that it was 100% in the 'Hero' POV. I doubt Cyneric would call himself a hero, but for book and reader purposes, he is in all intents of the word a hero. Especially when it comes to Amanda. His soulmate.

Though we don't get to read any chapters from Amanda's POV, that is far from an issue. Anna has written this story so well using the story through Cyneric's eyes to tell what Amanda is thinking, feeling, what she says etc, a dual POV really wouldn't be needed here as after all, the main focus is on Cyneric which I found to be a good decision. I liked the change in compared to how things are usually written, and I'd welcome more single POVs for male characters if she should decide to do this again at some point.

On the whole, I really enjoyed where Anna took this book from what I'd read about the series in the previous book. I wasn't sure on where things would go next, but I'm thrilled with where they did end up going. Cyneric threw up plenty of new elements--pun intended--, gave me plenty of surprises and brought the promised steaminess we all know and love. I came to know and love Cyneric--much like Amanda--and along with the returning supporting characters, they delivered a truly enjoyable and lip-bitingly good read.

Eagerly awaiting the next instalment in the series & where we will go with that.

This is the newest in the Undercover Elementals series. I started this one with only the previous book "The Thirteenth Fae" under my belt and though I managed that book easily, this one was a little harder for me to keep track of.

Cyneric is an elemental vampire and somehow, his existence and powers are linked to a potential apocalypse level destruction that could ruin both the human world and the unseen (the fae realm).

While trying to sort out what is happening and why it's happening, Cyneric travels the realms in the present and the past (through memories and more) looking for answers about his past and his future. Along the way he reconnects with characters from the rest of the series and see the reshaping of relationships from adversaries to friends. We also meet new characters as Cyneric meets Amanda, a human that has been connected to the unseen in her past and drawn like magnets no matter how they try to avoid it.

Because of the nature of this story, involving a journey through the present and the past, we are exposed to the history of Cyneric and all the times he's crossed paths with other characters in the cast. Since I only started the series with the most recent book, I felt more overwhelmed by the level of intricacy in the crossover history for characters from stories I hadn't read. I feel like if I had read the previous books in the series, these moments would have had more of an impact to me.

The audiobook was performed solo by Shane East and he really had to flex his talents on this one. Anna made him work for it and he rose to the occasion. Because of the time span and geographic reach of this journey into Cyneric's existence, there is a ton of accent work, emotional range and characterizations to play with. It was a lot of fun to listen to to Shane present Cyneric's life history.

I requested and received an advance copy of the audiobook. These are my honest opinions.

Cyneric
Book 7 of the Undercover Elementals
By Anna Durand
Narrated by Shane East

Spice, excitement, action, how can you go wrong with this book? Anna Durand pens another fantastic listen in her Undercover Elementals series, and with Shane East in my ears, I could not put it down! Cyneric is an interesting vampire. Caught between the Unseen and mortal worlds, he can't seem to find his footing. But he does have an obsession! Amanda is the one woman who not only satisfies him, but is not intimidated by him. No fear, she takes on the journey as he finds his way. From his horrible past with the God, Eros taunting and to his new found friendships, we are subject to the danger he faces and the infatuation he has. There is a lot of humor spread through this gem as well as Cyneric adjusts to the mortals way of life. I smiled every time he questioned a common word! Told only from his point of view, this is a show of true pain, frustration, fear, vulnerability and love, each pouring out of Cyneric. Loved this is installment.

Shane East could not have been a better pick for this character! He delves into his mind and gives us each and every feeling he has. As the memories as shared, it is easy to fall into the vulnerability he had, just as easily as falling into his lust filled times. It's a phenomenal performance.

~*~ Audiobook Review ~*~ This is a solid 4.5 stars for me! I was so excited to be back in the world of Undercover Elementals with Anna Durand! Cyneric is Book 7 of the series and it is the steamy vampire seduction story I didn’t know I needed! Cyneric’s contribution throughout the series up to this point was somewhat confusing, varying from villainous to sometimes altruistic behavior. You could tell he is a creature in transition. This unstable vampire with a tendency to become obsessed struggles going from the wrong side of the story to finding himself thrust into discovering a conscience, feelings for another being, and his purpose with the weight of multiple worlds on his shoulders and no shortage of meddling gods and other elementals. What a ride!

Amanda is a mature mortal woman with a traumatic history with an elemental. She is not afraid of Cyneric as they embark on a thrilling adventure through his history. As they travel to other worlds and confront gods and other monsters they are drawn together by more than just chemistry and carnal need. Their love story is unique and thrilling!

Shane’s solo performance is outstanding! This story is all from Cyneric’s point of view and Shane really brings you on the journey with powerfully emotional storytelling. Shane’s performance really sealed the deal on this one for me!

Stellar supernatural romance
Cyneric (Undercover Elementals Book 7) by Anna Durand is a truly fantastic read! Cyneric's life story is fascinating and scintillating to begin with, but as more and more details are revealed it's downright edge of your seat compelling.
Through his interactions and emerging instincts and feelings for Amanda, the reader learns all about Cyneric's life. I usually prefer a dual perspective book, but this book, through only Cyneric's point of view, I was wholly immersed in this book and loathe to stop reading!
Life prior to this book and point in Cyneric's life, was no cake walk and the life altering situation he finds himself in is completely confounding to him. As Cyneric is explaining, remembering and sharing his past, his bond with Amanda deepens and becomes essential.
Overall, Cyneric's life is spine-tinglingly suspenseful and fraught with nefarious deception. The silver lining is Amanda first and foremost, but also other elementals that become a support and friends despite his actions in the past. This ancient elemental bad boy finds redemption in the truth of his past and surpassing evil to save the multiverse all while find and falling in love.
I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily share my review.

I've been looking forward to Cyneric's story. Unfortunately I found most of the book slow and I had a hard time getting into the story. I couldn't find it's direction and focus of the story until well into the book. Finally we get into the meat of the story of Cyneric finding who he is and why he exists. I did really enjoy Amanda Nelson's character becoming his steadfast friend and then his lover and mate. He seems to have accumulated quite a few friends along his life journey, although the friendship only solidifies late in the story when his heart is proven to not be selfish and evil. These friendships play a major part in him finding his origins and stabilizing his powers. Amanda becomes a solid force he can count on to help him through his fight to save the earth.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I was first a bit confused as I started Cyneric's story, having glimps of him in previous stories, seen as a villain, but also a bit of a hero. Was told he was made but finding himself with unexplainable powers. Finding a new obsession, then he is continually pulled from one place to another. Cyneric is then sent on a quest to then being hunted by those who want him destroyed, but no real reason why. The supernatural aspect of an Unseen vampire, a threat to humankind, and old enemies standing by your side as alies makes the story intriguing, but not one of my favorite books by Anna.

Cyneric is a provocative Paranormal Romance featuring an Elemental Vampire whose story is told from his point of view and details the journeys from mortal worlds to supernatural as he battles with inner demons over desire for one woman before finding the one that truly completes him.
Along the way the reader is granted entrance to his mind set and growth from once enslaved to no longer tortured hero in a well written, fast paced action-adventure.
Cyneric was a solid seventh book of the series which made for an enjoyable read.

Very excited to be back in this world! I enjoyed this story and am pleased poor ole Cynaric finally got a girl of his own. He really has changed since I first met him as he seems kinder. I liked getting this story from his POV as it gave further insight into his thoughts.

I loved seeing all the old crew! They seem so happy and still like to joke around. Definitely had some fun times with a few of these hanging around.

Shane East is the narrator for this one. He does an excellent job amd its always a pleasure listening to him.

I loved every moment of this book! It was nice to see a heroine closer to my own age and dealing with her life realistically when she met Cyneric. She had dealings with the paranormal world before with her ex husband. I felt bad for Cyneric, poor vamp was so tortured. This one definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. Very exciting and spicy too!
It goes without saying, but there's nothing better than Shane East in a solo narration. He really brings those characters to life with his performances.

Cyneric will take you on a wild ride, intriguing ride. I had been interested in Cyneric’s story since reading about him in the previous book in this series. I loved going on his journey with him and learning about his past. I loved how Amanda accepted him from the start although these two had many obstacles in their way they made their way through it. This book was solo narrated by Shane East and he did amazing at showcasing the personality and emotions that Cyneric went through this entire book. Another interesting paranormal read/listen from Anna that I fell in love with.

Cyneric was thought to be an evil monster by most although at times he's shown glimpses of something more. In this book, we learn more about im and find out who he is. Most of the characters from the earlier books are featured too. Everyone with the exception of Amanda who has always seen the good in him will be shocked by his discovery.

Good to have the answers to so many questions but now there are new ones raised.

She see something in him that most don't and he is completely obsessed with her. The writing is so vivid and engrossing. Cyneric is one of the characters you love to read about. Does he think he is the ultimate evil - well, not quite, but he is definitely not the most sane as he freely admits. His quest to discover who he really is shows the misery and the heartache, but also the passion and the hope.

Cyneric's story has been murky from the first time he appeared in this series. Even he has not been clear about what he could or would do. Everyone considered him to be an evil monster, but there have been glimpses of something more in him. Now we get to go along on Cyneric's quest to find out who he really is. Nearly all the other characters from the previous books show up to help (and sometimes heckle) Cyneric. Everyone will be shocked by what he finds out, with the exception of Amanda. She sees the good in Cyneric when no one else can, and she supports him through his quest. I'm glad to have so many questions answered, but there are some new questions at the end of the book.
Shane East does a fantastic job of the audio for Cyneric. It is so complicated because there are tons of characters, and most of those have specific accents. I didn't have any trouble following along with who was speaking. I did have trouble turning it off when it was time to go to sleep, though.

I love Anna Durand's books, but I may need to stick to the Hot Scots, Brits, and the Au Natural bunch.

Cyneric is an elemental vampire who’s struggling with who he is. And has a bit of an obsessive-compulsive personality. Which doesn’t quite work in the human world. Especially with his latest obsession, Amanda. Though, every time he’s near her something bad seems to happen.

Which turns out to sort of be Cyneric’s fault. The oracles see him either saving or destroying the world. And for a while, it really could go either way. But by opening up to Amanda and sharing his past, he becomes freer. So when he finally discovers where he’s from, it seems the other side decided it's time for Cyneric to decide.

Cyneric and Amanda get their happy ending in this stand-alone book in a series.

I cannot figure out why this book was such a struggle for me to get through. I enjoy Durand’s writing style and paranormal romances are a regular occurrence for me to read. But I found myself doing almost anything else but reading. I do wonder if I would have been more invested in the story if I’d read other books in this series.

I received an advance review copy from the author and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
