Cosa indossare al primo appuntamento

Rate this book

I usually like chick lit but when it comes to this book I didn't enjoy it all that much. I just felt nothing all that much happened... Tansy and Justin, stale relationship with irrating mum get a move on and move Tansy back to Lancashire. Tansy in Lancs... baby & men, she's opening a business but I felt no excitement or interest in it (there were no exciting or interesting events happening before or after) Tansy and the new shopping center... could have been a great story line but all happened behind the scenes, Tansy and creepy neighbour.... don't touch him with a barge pole... oops! Then Tansy's family siding with the step sisters... no wonder the sisters got away with so much. Lastly Aunt Nan's archive, it didn't share all that much, the climax was no climax as you realised from the prologue what was going to happen. Again could have been great.

The thing that annoyed me the most was the deja vu moments, I was reading whole paragraphs at least twice with in the book but in different chapters. Also the fact that these people come across as being in their 20s rather then their mid 30s.

Shame, but this book was not good for me. All the time I felt like a little child being patronized by someone older, I think it is the way it was written - full of exclamation marks, very repetitive and boring. all the characters were behaving as if they were in their 20ies and not 30ies, the way they were behaving and the way there were speaking: "And I went to his garden!" - something like this, and notice please the use of exclamation mark, as if going to his garden was really so an important thing. Then repeating always the same conversations to each other, on one page it was THE conversation, then the next page Tansy repeated the conversation to Bella and on the next page to someone else. A little too much, thank you very much.
As for Aunt Nan and her memories, they didn't hook me as well, they were such predictable, nothing new, nothing fresh there. I have expected more of the shop itself, although the name "Cinderella's Slippers" were not my pair of shoes as well.
In short - will not read it again, for sure, and will think over if give any other book of Trisha Ashley a go.

Bastante feminino.

I have always found Trisha Ashley’s books a little hit or miss, although I read and enjoy them they never seem to grip me and leave me with a lasting impression and yet there is still something about them that make me pick up her new novel every year.

I will be very surprised if anyone can walk past this book and not turn their head as firstly the title of this book must grab the attention of every woman, I mean Chocolate and shoes in the same sentence, is it just me or does that sound like pure heaven. I also loved the fact that the cover is similar to Chocolate Wishes which makes the book instantly recognisable as Trisha Ashley’s book.

I instantly took a liking to our main character Tansy. She was a very likeable character who had a kind of old fashioned and traditional feel to her. After constantly knocked down by her partner about her weight and her quirky dress sense and with him not wanting children Tansy is a shadow of her former self.
Things take a change and soon Tansy inherits her Aunt Nans shoe shop, she has a great idea to modernise the shop changing it into Cinderella’s Slippers which sells shoes for the beautiful brides. Things seem to be improving for Tansy if only her ex would get the hint and realise that her life is now in Sticklepond and no longer featured him in her life.

It’s not long before the owner of the house next door arrives and catches Tansy’s breath when she realises he is a blast from the past.

I particularly enjoyed reading Aunt Nans memoires at the beginning of each chapter I thought this was a unique part of the book. There were a great mix of characters in this book some who we have met already in Chocolate Wishes and some new characters, some you take an instant dislike to such as Tansy’s two evil stepsisters and her awful mother but then there were some great warm and friendly characters alongside Tansy such as great Aunt Nan and Bella.

The book had a modern day fairytale romance about it which I loved as it made it an easy read and a feel good feeling. I enjoyed watching Tansy create her shop of her dreams step by step.
This book defiantly gets the thumbs up from me and in my opinion it is Trisha Ashley’s work at its best this is defiantly my favourite book by this author and I would defiantly recommend it.

A fantastic read and just didn't want it to end simply brilliant from the first page worth far more than the five stars. Hooked from the beginning and the characters are great along with the plot and you can just curl up and enjoy. Full of sorting out your life and wanting what you want and romance and of course weddings and chocolate. It's upsetting at times to but funny in others such a warm read and a great read.
All Tansy has ever wanted is to be married but her boyfriend although he promised it he's never commuted as he's more commuted to his mother who is a nightmare. Tansy goes back home to visit her aunt and realises she's ill and she wants to spend time with her and she enjoys time in the shop her aunt owns. Her boyfriend is neglecting Tansy badly and she realises that he's not for her and once her aunt passed she left with a run down shop that sells shows for weddings but she wants to change it make it her own wedding show shop. The next door neighbour moves in and she realises she knows him and he's nursing a broken heart so will they be able to help each other with her finishing with Justin. Problem is she has to step sisters who like causing her problems and can people see through their lies or does it cause so many problems. Justin believe now that Tansy wants him back but she clearly doesn't but he won't give in and she's getting more friendly with her new neighbour. Will she make a go of her new shop and be happy and will she find her Prince Charming and be happy or will the evil stepsisters prevent this happening. She she get her happy ever after or not.
A simply fantastic read.

A pes a mačka. A happyend. Čakali ste niečo iné? Asi som si oddýchla až príliš, no nič viac zmysluplné o tom povedať neviem... ☺️

Tansy is a down to earth character. One I could identify with as she was not a size zero heroine who loves her baking and is happy with her shape. The same cannot be said of her doctor boyfriend. After several years their relationship is gong nowhere and Tansy's body clock is ticking away.

Tansy's Great Aunt Nan is advancing in years and wants Tansy to take over her little shop in Sticklepond. Should Tansy give up on the stagnant relationship and move to the village? Soon the decision is made for her. Will there be a happy ending.

This was not my first visit to Sticklepond, the fictional village in Trisha Ashley's novels. I loved being back in the village sampling a taste of village life that the author captures with such affection.

I had to control the urge to read Nan's Living Archive entries before the rest of the story, but did so.

A lovely summer read with romance, chocolate, and wedding shoes.

4.5 out of 5 for me. Loved it!

So repetitive!

It began with some promise but I found the whole book boring, predictable and repetitive. I don’t know how many times the dog was taken out for a walk but the poor thing must have worn it’s paws out! It certainty tried my patience.

When Tansy Poole inherits a run-down shoe shop, this happens at just at the right time for her, she is in a relationship that just does not seem to be working out, and when a further revelation is revealed, the shop provides Tansy with the perfect way to escape from the relationship and living in London. Tansy moves back to the Village of Sticklepond in Lancashire where she grow up and was raised by a loving Aunt. Tansy’s dream is to turn her Aunts Bright Shoes shop into Cinderella’s Slippers. Providing the perfect wedding shoes for bride’s to be. Along with special chocolate shaped shoes too. The shop is soon a huge success.

In Tansy’s home life things are not so good. Tansy finds herself in a situation that is a little similar to Cinderella, due to her also having two appalling stepsisters, who go out of their way to meddle and cause trouble in Tansy’s life. When a handsome actor called Ivo Hawksley moves in next door nursing a broken heart and playing depressive classical music night after night adding to Tansy’s worry. But when Tansy and Ivo find they have something in common and become friends, could there be a chance for a happy ever after for Tansy after all?

Chocolate Shoes and Wedding Blues is just one of those great stories that give you great pleasure to dip into, and find yourself in another place, and into the lives of some very likable characters, and to take some time out and lose yourself in a heart warming story, that is well told with some good humour, drama and suspense to what family secrets will be revealed. This is the first book I have read by Trisha Ashley, and I really enjoyed reading this book, and will definitely be reading more of her work.

Lovely Trisha Ashley, and her lovely, uncomplicated, practical, indefatigable heroines.

In this one,the heroine opens a successful wedding shoes shop and falls in love with her dishy neighbour, all while continuing to write and illustrate her series of best selling children's books and do an improbably large amount of baking. The setting of Sticklepond is still rural and cosy without being claustrophobic and as a plus we catch up with characters from previous books.

In its own way it's as unattainable a life as anything set in New York or Paris but it's such a comfy read it's hard to mind.

Bella, Tia e Neil obrigada pelas segundas chances..

Tansy Poole dreams of weddings, shoes....& chocolate
.....so you will NEVER believe what she does...she opens...wait for it...a shop selling wedding shoes & chocolates!! Would've thunk it? ;o)

Look, it's a Trisha Ashley book so there's no new surprises here...girl gets heart broken, moves on & after a few misunderstandings & interference by wicked stepsisters, lives happily ever after. It does just what you expect it to...heart warming fluff at it's best :o)

Yes, it's time to be done with this author/consortium of authors. There is a formula. Old relative + guy whose wife has died + jilted woman + ex who borders on stalker/violent behavior that no one takes too seriously + lots of baking + gratuitous use of exclamation points!!! The first two I read were enjoyable, light reads. The subsequent two were awful.

Plus, this book "made" me eat chocolate by mentioning it so damn often.
