Dana Atkinson prayed for the one thing she desired most, to be a mother. Knowing her plain appearance and inability to have children of her own will keep men at bay, she signs up to be a foster parent. When the single parent of one of the student’s in her preschool class turns out to be the father of her foster placement she finds herself not only falling for both of his daughters but him as well.
Tommy McMurray already has his hands full with his daughter Gretchen, and taking responsibility for another daughter with medical problems, is more than he is able to handle. When Dana steps in to help, he finds himself drawn to her in a way he never expected. When his past comes calling he realizes he needs Dana and not just as a mother to his daughters.
The second book in the series is a much stronger showing and I was hooked. Real people in real situations facing real problems that reflect modern day issues. Single parenting, adoption, foster care ... topics that real people are dealing with while trying to find romance. The combination makes the characters and story more intriguing and I found myself hurrying to find out what would happen next. Children normally aren't the key to romance stories, but Gretchen comes across as believable and brings a lot of the characters together in the story in a way I enjoyed. I hesitated to go with five stars since I missed some moments where I expected dramatic tension to unravel into disaster near the end ... but I guess since I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop I was still feeling tense the whole time after all. Besides, what's a romance without a happy ending?
(Oh, and the other best part ... even more Gretchen than book one)
This is book two in the Riding with Honor series, I loved book one but felt like this one missed the mark. Dana has known one thing her entire life that she wants kids but she is unable to have her own. So when a baby is placed with her she is ecstatic. Tommy loves his daughter even if she's a handful so when he finds out while hoping to make it work with Gretchen's mother that she got pregnant again he is more than happy to take care of his child especially since Gretchen and the baby's mother couldn't care less about them. Imagine the surprise when Dana finds out that the baby she was hoping for is Gretchen one of her students sister and handsome Tommy's daughter. After the blow that Dana and Tommy find, they both have to move on to new dreams realizing quickly that these new dreams are better than they could have imagined. So why three stars well I'm not sure I just couldn't quite connect with the characters I flew through this book but towards the middle of this book I didn't love the main characters like I was hoping. Maybe it's because I had such high hopes after reading book one. I didn't hate it I was just hoping for more especially from Tommy. I will still read the rest of this series and I'm hoping it gets better with each book. Now having said that The book wasn't horrible, we get all the characters from book one and almost a continuation from book one. I also don't regret reading this book at all and felt like the author is defiantly growing in her writing style. I am really excited to see how this series developes and to see the rest of the characters getting their hea.
2.5 stars for this one and that's being generous. It wasn't too silly, it wasn't badly written, it wasn't overly dramatic. But that was kind of the problem. It wasn't really much of anything. Nothing really happens. No angst, no tension, no drama, no suspense. Really nothing. I've never hoped and prayed for some Jerry Springer, soap opera type stuff to just randomly spring up in a story before but I think I may have actually begged at one point with this one. Just for something to make it slightly interesting. Now I didn't have high expectations for this book since the first in the series wasn't my favorite but at least there was a little action in that one. Unfortunately not so much with this one.
I liked this one better than the last one. Dana was super sweet and I liked that her virginity wasnt such a huge thing like in other books. Tommy was such a great guy. You dont hear to much about guys working that hard to get kids. It was super sweet. I loved it.
I loved everything about this book. Tommy and Dana were perfect for each other and watching them fall in love was great. Tommy had finally found someone he wanted forever with and Dana was afraid to trust her feelings after being hurt as a teenager. I seriously loved Gretchen. She is such a delight and I want more of her each time I read this series. I would seriously love to see a book about her once she grows up. With her spirit and gumption it would be awesome. This book really grabbed my attention from the very beginning and I really didn't want to see it end. Would have loved a miracle for Dana and to see what was going on with them a few years down the road.
Slow Ride... is aka playboy Tommy's story. Dana is his leading lady. She starts has the hellion(in a good way) Gretchen's teacher but will develop into so much more for Tommy and his two Angel's Gretchen and Melody. I enjoyed this story.. Avery makes Dana's character very insecure in the beginning but you watch her insecurities fade away and she learns to see what everyone else sees on the outside. Tommy is funny, sweet, sexy and has the best one liners. So be prepared to laugh and you might shred some tears as well. Happy Reading!!

Personal Overview/ Overall Rating:4.5/5/ Do You Recommend this Book:yes/ Will You Re-read this Book:maybe/ Would You Read More Books by this Author:yes/ ======================================= COMMENTS/NOTES: I loved this story. Dana reminds me of myself dealing with the self esteem issues-especially in high school. As a adult I also hid myself away from the world. Tommy is great at telling her and making her feel beautiful, and at the end she grows more confident. Some of the stuff with the kids was heart breakingly? sweet-Tommy singing and guitar playing for Melody- and of course Dana helping Gretchen become more a child if that makes sense.
4.5 Stars!!! Loveeed it!!! ( I know I'm starting most of my reviews like that, but I just can't help it you know?) So I bet everyone knows how when you're a booklover and you're having a phase like: wizards phase and you just go and buy every book that sounds good, or shifter phase, billionaire phase, dystopian phase etc... Well I was in all of these phases (still am) and in addition 2 years ago I've started my bikers phase and yeah, it's still going but not in full. So, when my phase was in that full swing I just bought every single biker book I could get my hands on and of course some of them have been forgotten on my shelf, because I just couldn't stop buying more books and reading more and more so some of those books remained unread in that period. We all have books like that. Today I was cleaning my digital shelf and I came across this book and I said okay, it sounds so good, I must give it a try. Of course this try ended with me reading the book in one sitting because it was that good. Slow ride is not concentrating that much on the rough biker lifestyle but it concentrates on the family a motorcycle club gives you and on the love an care. The hero is a dream man, hot and alpha, but sweet and sensible, I know it sounds weird but here it was a great combo and it worked. The heroine was absolutely brilliant, also all of the other characters. I loved the fact that there was only minor drama in the plot and the story was a short, light, beautiful, leaves you with a smile at the end, really enjoyable type. I am going to read the next In the series asap. Read this one people!! p.s: I totally recommend a clean up in your shelves, because I am sure you'll find hidden gems, exactly like I did.
All Dana wanted to be was a mother but unfortunately she can't. She is a pre-school teacher and that is why she meets Gretchen (the little heaven) and her father Tommy (the model/god. As Dana always wanted children she has asked for a foster care placement and already has a baby (but she is sick and in hospital) Turns out with Karma and everything that Tommy is the father. Difficult situation and they try to be friends but it turns into more a lot more. The author talks about real topics in her book which makes them really enjoyable.
Been waiting for the sequel to Rough Ride - I absolutely loved Bobby! :) Just found out this book was available yesterday and I immediately downloaded it and finished it today. While not as "rough" as Rough Ride, this story was sweet and more emotional. I love all the guys in this series: Bobby, Tommy, Chuck & Dickie and can't wait for the rest of their stories. And Gretchen... please let there be one about her in the near future!!!
Well, I wasn't going to do it. But I finally decided to see if this was an improvement over the first monstrosity. The grammar didn't improve much and I would have to add subject-verb agreement to the long list of errors. But, that said, I think the story was better in this one. The writing was less stilted and seemed to flow a bit better. It was a good move to keep Gretchen, the foul-mouthed five-year-old, in the story.
Another big hit for me!! If you loved Gretchen in book 1 you will love her even more after this one!!
The author introduces us to a wonderful new woman ( Dana Atkins ) who is Gretchens teacher, and secretly the foster parent her sick baby sister is to be placed with. You can imagine the sparks that fly when Tommy finds out just who Dana really is!! Great book!
Cute and intense but might need more unexpected elements. I was thinking maybe Casey is going to tempt something or somethin along the way. A bit disppointed it didn t happen. But I still enjoyed readying about Tommy and Dana and I absolutely LOVE Gretchen, she is awesome for a 5 years old little girl!!
Much improved plot and character development. However, the need for an intense edit brought the stars down. I was trying to deal with it, but I think the final straw was the mention of standing at the 'alter'. Ugh! But anyway, I really liked Dana and Tommy, and once again, Gretchen was great! Melody is a lucky girl!
I really wanted to like this book as well, but I felt a few things were a little unrealistic. I was willing to let them go during the first one, but to repeat not only some of the same phrases, but how quickly the characters fall in love was a little disappointing. I feel bad because I really like the characters, Tommy is a great character.
It was okay. Our H/H fall for each other in about a week. A lot of unnecessary drama from heroine. The conflict fizzled out quickly-the romance was the main objective here and over rad everything. It was all very lightweight.
This was a great follow up story. I love Tommy. He loves his daughter and always puts her first. He deserved to find happiness in Dana. They make a great couple.
Looking forward to reading the rest of the boys stories when they come out.
This was such a brilliant read I loved Tommy and Dana and little Gretchen is hilarious love her even if she says bad words and the story about Little Melody ahhhhh!!!! Can't wait for the next book
