As much as I wanted this book to be good, it just wasn't. I overlooked the feeble setup to get the ball rolling and wanted to see where it went. The characters were fairly fleshed out, the situations were meh. But what saddened me most was the quality of the editing. The first half was well written and didn't have too many issues with spelling or grammar. Once you got to the second half it began to fall apart. I do not know what happened to the e-reader copy that was submitted to Amazon, but it needs to be revised. I also recall a bit of continuity, specifically when the Hero told her not to answer the phone or go to the door, yet not two pages later he telephones her and gives her new info. WHA?!?!
I read this book in a couple of sittings. I really enjoyed the characters as well as the plot. I do admit that it moved a little choppy at times but it wasn't so much that it took away from the story at all. The characters are all very likeable, and solid. I loved the dialogue! The romance was good and had just enough conflict to keep me guessing. Secondary characters were very well done as well. There were a couple of plot twists that surprised me and for a good while during the book I thought one thing, and was totally shocked at the real outcome. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read more of Carol's works.
Compromised is a fun, escapist romantic suspense story. Some elements felt a bit like the television show Castle, with two headstrong career-minded adults who are fighting their attraction to each other. I always hate it when a romance puts silly, artificial obstacles in the way of the couple getting together; there's none of that in Compromised. You can understand both why Ethan and Callie are drawn to each other, but you can also see that there are legitimate hurdles to their relationship.
Also, I usually can spot the turncoat/mole in a story like this a mile off, but I was wrong! So nice job on keeping that mystery a surprise.
I noticed this book for free and grabbed it. The blurb really grabbed my attention. I love romantic suspense, especially when it keeps me on the edge of my seat and wondering throughout the book. I really liked the premise of this story and the storyline. I just really think this book could’ve been so much better. It didn’t flow well at all and seemed very choppy and forced. I almost stopped reading this book repeatedly, but I really wanted to know what happened, like I said this had a really good storyline. I really wanted to like this book.
i really liked this story, it had just the right amount of drama, suspense, love, sex, danger etc...however the lead female is a little to "girly for me, but otherwise it was a great book. im a sucker for a man of authority so i like the lead male in the story.
