Nebulae
Nebulae is a short story excerpted from the upcoming novel The Colonists: Book 2 of the Movement Trilogy.
Once, man brought Earth to the brink of ruin. To save itself, humanity built a fleet of space stations in orbit. Old fears and hatreds were set aside. As one, mankind fought for survival.
Three hundred years later, that unity is all but forgotten. Humanity has scattered throughout the solar system, taking root in the asteroid belt, on the moons of distant planets, on the planets themselves. A rebellion pushes against the governance of the Citadel and its ruling Council.
Ansel Agusti is a Citadel operative sent deep into the solar system in search of Evelyn Jans, daughter of a Councilman and heir to his seat. For seven years Ansel has searched for Evelyn, hunting for her on freighters and on moon colonies and on distant space stations. Now he's come to the end of his journey, only to learn of Evelyn's terrible fate.

A great warmup for the Settlers series, which I will read in the near future. Enjoyed this!
