This book was about 38 years old when I read it in 2023, but I really enjoyed it. I hadn’t realized what a big food section (food halls) that Harrod’s has. I would say this book was light on Harrod’s history (4 pages), but the recipes were very interesting, largely due to the element of British culinary culture, which I don’t know tons about—especially when you get into a more gourmet realm like this book did.

Thanks to this book, I now have big plans to make an Irish Apple Cake on New Year’s Day 2024!

I loved this book!!! England isn't best known for its great food but the recipes in this book look and sound great. Lots of fowl recipes (even quail eggs)and lamb. Then there are the traditional Yorkshire puddings and meat pies. They are not very complicated and most of the ingredients are pretty common. Can't wait to give some of these a try- I have lamb in the freezer waiting!!
