Wow!! That's what I think of Sharon Anne Klingler's enthusiastically written, invigorating new book, Power Words: Igniting Your Life with Lightning Force! I have been asking for quantum leaps in consciousness (go for it - you can ask for anything), and am enjoying subtle shifts in awareness, thanks to Sharon Anne's grace-filled influence. If you know something about spiritual growth, you will recognize that "subtle" is where it's at. =:)
On the back cover, Hay House (the publisher) describes Sharon Anne as "one of the world's leading intuitives." I'm starting to intuit why! Her talent for gentle, yet profoundly beneficial influence is exemplary. This book is an 'easy' read, and that's how one can truly benefit. This isn't an intellectual mind-twister, which would serve to confuse one, more than inspire self-enlightenment. Instead, I feel that Sharon Anne knows how to befriend the mind and our emotions, and invites them to play and awaken together, by offering many word-energy-sensing practices.
Of unique value, is Sharon Anne's invitation to consider common words and the energy they offer. In one word-energy experiment, she asks readers to consider the words "short" and then "tall." As a well-skilled intuitive, she guides us into really tapping in to the innate power of words. (I'll accept this kind of brilliant coaching any day!)
"Trigger Words" Even though I consider myself to be "short," I was surprised at how "tall" I felt, when I considered the word "tall." My body sat up straighter, of its own accord. My shoulders relaxed with my better posture, and I felt more confident. o-m-g (She even suggests 'oh-my-goodness' for an uplifting switch to the over-used "omg.") Once you tap into a word that uplifts you, Sharon Anne urges you to use it as a trigger word to birth new thoughts, actions and ways of being. She's totally right! I'm practicing this, and it's becoming a way of meditating, while in the world. Thank you, thank you, Sharon!!
Of phenomenal value are the many brief examples she gives of her clients' turnarounds in thinking and behavior, to higher ways of being.
Excerpt from her chapter "Lifting Words for a Language and Life of Bliss":
"There are hundreds of words that lift, but since everybody's different, how do you know which word will work best for you? It's simple. All you have to do is close your eyes, and hold the word in your heart, body, and mind. Really breathe deeply, and fill yourself up with it. Sense how you would feel and what images come to mind. Be patient with the word in every sense.
"This test will show you in moments the power that any certain word will hold for you. Try it with any word, and see how you feel. It will fill you up and move through you. But you'd better get started, there are a lot of words to test.
"You don't have to do this test with every word, but it's fun to test different kinds of words to see how they feel. (omitted a bit here)
"There are words that inspire. There are words that act as a catalyst to higher action and thought. There are some that fill you with hope and excitement, and some that incite more profound contemplation. Words can cause you to seek a higher potential everywhere. It's entirely up to you. Just say the word!"
I love the concept of this book—using words to empower us. Words can cut down or build up. If you doubt the power of words, tell a child they are stupid, ugly, or fat.
The information is separated into 5 sections, with 4-5 chapters in each one.
Part 1: The energy of Words Part 2: Trigger Words for Every Purpose Part 3: Power Words from Other Places and Other Times Part 4: Lifting Words for Elevated Life Part 5: Words to the Wise
This book is stimulating and contains a wealth of information, but I found it too overwhelming to read in one or two sittings. If I had taken a more leisurely pace, I may have absorbed more. That’s not to say I didn’t learn a lot. It made an impact on the words I will use (and not use.) Three of my favorite aspects of this book are learning what my desired trigger words are, the inspirational quotes scattered throughout, and The Energy of Colors in the Appendix 2.
Power Words isn’t the usual affirmation type of books I’ve read in the past – and that’s okay. I like the unique twist. I’ve no doubt I’ll revisit this book from time to time.

As someone fascinated by the subject of etymology and the field of NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programing)this book was a no-brainer. This book also fits nicely with the works of Louise Hay and Esther and Jerry Hick's teachings of Abraham. Author Sharon Anne Klinger does a great job of expressing the raw power that our words can have on our subconscious, and the almost magical effect the energy of our spoken and unspoken words have on our lives. This is a self help book, that is going to give you tools you can use immediately. Before finishing this book, you'll find yourself empowered with techniques that will change your world. The subject of "trigger words" alone make Power Words: Igniting Your Life with Lightning Force worth reading. Another invaluable tactic Sharon Anne Klinger teaches, is how to use the energy of words in making decisions. She walks you through several different ways to do this. Overall this really is a fantastic book. I'm grateful to the publisher for providing me with a review copy. I was not financially compensated for this post. I received the book from Hay House for review purposes. The opinions are completely my own based on my experience.
Although the idea of 'As you speak so you create ' is not a new concept, this book is a great reminder to revisit the idea and remember to be aware of what words you use. Some of the concepts are similar to that of Switchwords in that the essence of the desire you wish to manifest can often be reduced to one word, and quite a few of the words in the book are also what are termed Switchwords
WOW. I'm an Energy Girl AND a Word Girl so this book ROCKED MY WORLD!!! It was right up my alley! If you want to look at words differently and begin to USE words differently then I highly recommend this book! At the very least you will think differently about the words you are using! Words DO have their own energy, frequency, and vibration. You will realize this throughout the book as you participate in the exercises within each Chapter. Highly Recommend!!!
I have challenges with the use of the word 'energy' outside of physics. I'm not hugely interested in the 'energy' that words possess. However the book offers some interesting arguments about how words initiate or inhibit behaviour and actions.
A fascinating argument. Ignore the energy. Consider the value of verbs.
I like the book and it has some good exercises to try out and see how words change energy, but it got repetitive real fast it should had been half the length of what it is.
First, I have to say that it was a hard read at some times. I'm not sure if I was just having a rough week focusing, or if the writer was not that good with words, but the stories and examples bored me to tears and were very hard to get through sometimes.
Otherwise I enjoyed the book. It is a true testament to the power of our words and how we use them to make our lives better or worse. I quickly became aware of how many words I was using in my life that didn't benefit me in any way.
If you feel as though you are using your words to a disadvantage in your life, or if you feel that you are not using your words at all, then this is the book to read. It will help you to learn how to use your words to life your mental, physical, and spiritual health.
I loved it. So many of the change your life books are good in theory, but harder to do in practice. Remembering to switch gears by saying a single word or two has been very workable for me and does make a positive difference in my mindset. I agree with the person who thought it was too much to absorb in one or two sittings. I read this a few minutes at a time on my commute to work, which allowed me to start using a word or two a day without getting overwhelmed by it. She does have lists of lifting words and blessings in the appendix, but not all of the words from the book are there. Take notes if you find any word or phrases that strike you as particularly helpful.
Power Words is a non Fiction book full of lots of good advice. It concentrates on caring about the way you think and the words you use in everyday life and the energy connected to those words.
Good for anyone wanting to make positive changes in their life.
