About the author

Emphasizing expositional preaching, Stephen Davey is an influential pastor, professor, and author living with his wife, Marsha, in Cary, North Carolina. Serving as pastor-teacher at Colonial Baptist Church since founding it in 1985, his pulpit ministry is extending around the globe through the media/radio ministry, Wisdom for the Heart.
Stephen is also president and founder of Shepherds Theological Seminary, where he serves as professor of Biblical Exposition and Pastoral Theology. He and Marsha have four grown children and three grandchildren.

This was a really good book. I have read the book of Esther before, but never went to deep into. I didn't think there was too much more to gain from it than realizing her courage and faith. Pastor Davey does a great job of relating the story to our lives. I learned a lot about Esther. The most important fact I gained from reading this book, is that God is always in control. He may seem invisible, but His plan is invincible.

There is not a whole lot of books I'll sit and read in a couple of sittings, but this was one of them. This story is very compelling, or I should say the history of this time. I've always heard about Esther, even a couple of sermons, but never in this sort of detail and how it actually relates to my life today. Stephen Davey has a great way of communicating, with humor, while also driving home the message in the scripture.

An absolute pleasure going in depth through the book of Ester with pastor. His ability to paint a picture, a snap shot of history is so enjoyable and impactful. Although I've read the book itself from the bible many times, I could not help but devourer each of these chapter over a matter of a few days with all his insights, facts and his thoughts about the cultural and biblical references. They really bring much more meaning. Highly recommended for everyone, single study or even groups. GTK

Terrific read!
Truly enjoyed it - all 9 chapters were filled with such depth & width, yet the scholarship is balanced so very well by the readability factor.
A must buy - great investment for the soul, spirit, mind, & will.
