What a brutal and awesome read!

P.A. Douglas happens to do it AGAIN! His stories are immersive and I always have a blast reading them! This is just another fantastic read by the author known for his cosmic horror stories.

This dabbles with the idea that there is a multiverse with Koala Bear-Men that attack an unknowing and unprepared town.

I loved this story and its ending. I was wondering where we were going to end this story, and I am happily surprise where it landed.

Overall, Five out of Five stars!

My kind of ending and blood spatter!

After some stones are stolen and used to open a rift a town is suddenly a playground of death for "Killer Koalas". They will not leave til they are the only ones standing.

A survival horror story that steps on new boundaries besides the latest zombie survival tales. They are no longer cute little cuddly bears, they are spear wielding killers from another dimension.

My review is from the audio book and the narrator sounds like the man who is telling the story in "A Christmas Story."

Killer Koala Bears from Another Dimension is a hard-sell of a book. On the one hand, the very title and premise is enough to make most people chuckle, but then Douglas plays the craziness within the story fairly straight, focusing on the destruction these bears wreak as they wade through the town they have crossed over into.

That tonal weirdness aside, Killer Koala Bears from Another Dimension is just not very good. It features two main POV characters and only one of them is likeable. It also jumps into the heads of other characters as required - a pet hate of mine which instantly removes a star from any rating I plan to give. And then there's a moment where Douglas adds a chapter about a desperate last stand from a character we've never even come across before about 75% of the way through the book. The resolution is as rushed as the introduction and wholly unsatisfying, and the icing on the cake is that the prose itself from Douglas does little to inspire more positive sentiments.

Definitely the worst release from an author that I find very hit-and-miss, Killer Koala Bears from Another Dimension is a disappointing novel which starts poorly and never recovers.

Killer Koala Bears From Another Dimension is a throwback to the days of classic monster movies. When teenagers Tim and Joana do a little experimenting with a few strange rocks in a farmer’s field, the results are far from what they expected.
Tim just wants to escape his small, backwoods town and go someplace, anyplace, else. Joana, along for the ride but not very thrilled with her goth boyfriend and his timewasting experiment, is just as surprised as he is when dimensional rifts start showing up around town and strange humanoid shapes step out, loaded for bear (pardon the pun) and armed to the teeth with spears and knives. But whatever illusions they have that this is all just some bad dream changes when everyone around them ends up getting gutted and dined upon by the fury interlopers from another dimension.
Yep, the author went there. I have to believe he sat down one night and thought about what creature on earth is probably the most cuddly, cute, and adorable and dared himself to turned them into human flesh craving lunatics. Next thing you know, he’ll be writing about zombie-Teletubbies or vampire puppies.
Don’t get me wrong. As outrageous the idea that the nemesis of the Tim, Joana, and Frank (another desperate survivor) being humanoid shaped, spear-wielding koala bears, the author does a good job of filling these ravenous creatures with plenty of menace. These bears have teeth. Sure, the whole concept seems a bit silly, and most of the characters in the book are a bit taken aback by the idea of giant fuzzy bears coming through dimensional rifts ready to maim everything in sight, but the story is a fun, interesting race against time for the survivors. All they can do is to try and figure out a way out of this hell scape filled with deadly ursine enemies before the whole town is massacred.
Overall the story goes down pretty smooth. I perhaps grew a little weary of Joana’s repeated interludes of idle lines of thought that seemed to distract from the story a bit, and the ending seemed to shift gears a little bit surprisingly with the final reveal, but nothing was too out of phase with the rest of this blood-saturated adventure into teddy bear nightmares.
This is a fun one. Goofy and gruesome at the same time…I doubt I’ll ever look at a koala bears the same again.

As usual, I received this book via a GoodReads giveaway. Despite that kind consideration my candid thoughts appear below.

This is the part of the review in which I tend to summarize the plot. Most conveniently, the author has left little doubt as to the plot by his clever selection of a title. This book is, unsurprisingly, and quite literally, about Killer Koala Bears from another Dimension. That's enough said about that.

Anyone who follows my reviews with any alertness at all will know that I tend to be fairly serious-minded. However, when a book like this comes along, you can't really be very seriously minded about anything. KKBFAD bills itself as a B-movie story and it lives up to that expectation perfectly. Its narrative is at once antic and coherent as the story's antagonists march in and do exactly what you would expect Killer Koala Bears from another Dimension to do. In other words, it's nutty but it's that sort of nutty that at the heart of things really makes sense. I am especially gratified that the author chose the ending that he did. Saying any more about it would spoil the story entirely so I'll just leave it at that.

Having liberally applauded, this is the part of the review in which I say something constructive. As with most books of this type, it suffered from a couple dozen or so grammatical, spelling or typographical errors. (Much like the ones that no doubt litter this review.) Also, when I started the book I had some hopes that I might be able to hand it to my 12-year-old stepson for his perusal. Sadly, the book is just a hair shy of being appropriate for such a purpose given some of the language.

In summary, a pretty snappy little title that knows exactly what it is and has no delusions about it. I would be unsurprised to see this one come on as the 2am Spooky Movie. Well done, well thought out and pretty amusing on balance.

You get exactly what it says on the tin. Killer koala bears from another dimension, that pretty much sums it up.
This story doesn't have a happy ever after ending - I loved that.

Found this rough hewn gem at an odd local used horror media shop and had no expectations going in other than it would be cheesy and weird. It is cheesy, like a fine aged 80s-90s B rated horror film that has scifi wrapped around it like a movie binger's blanket at night. It has spelling errors but I chose to not ding it for it considering it is an Indie produced book. The fact it even exists in physical print form and I managed to happen across this one is a blessing in and of itself. It's a love tribute to those of us that get a kick out of cheesy horror. And true to form, it also has a highly unpredictable ending.

Right away I was roped in by the title of the book. It screamed B-horror movie with tons a gore and lots of crazy.

I ALWAYS say my ratings are going to get tougher. I mean, a 5 star rating shouldn't be given out all willy-nilly and shit. But I think I've realized something. A book doesn't have to be 'life changing' or some shit to be a 5 star book. This book was meant as lite hearted fare, and that's exactly what it was. It thrilled me, it scared me, it made me laugh, hell, it takes place where I fucking LIVE for Christ's sake! It was a lot of fun, and I really enjoyed it. And for that, it gets 5 stars.

The plotline wasn't a typical 'Bizarro' style plot (or at least, not that I've came across more than once or twice in my various forays into Bizarro literature). I guess it was, but the structure and writing seemed different compared to some of the other stuff I've been reading lately. I loved how we got character development for several characters and a couple different storylines that merged together in the end. Everything tied together quite nicely, although it wasn't really a 'happy ever after' type story.

The story content is, well, Killer Koalas From Another Dimension. What the fuck did you think it was gonna be about??? And Douglas makes it really fun. AND, he's giving away Audible copies of it online. You got nothing to lose, and it's like a great B-movie. Fun, action packed, and quite the adventure. Don't miss it!

I'm a fan of the absolute weird. I like concepts that don't seem to make sense on the surface, but have a different kind of logic at its core. The Bizarro fiction story of Killer Koala Bears from Another Dimension fits the bill perfectly.

The story starts out with Tim and Joana, the town's resident goths, throwing stones in a field. Tim is convinced something will happen with those stones, and it does. They don't see it right away, but soon the town of Lewisburg, West Virginia, is under siege by killer koala bears. Only Tim has the answers to the crisis, but he's not exactly spilling the beans on what he knows about these lethal creatures.

I have to say that this was a highly enjoyable story. Despite the occasional typo or sudden shift in POV, I didn't lose my momentum in reading this book. I did struggle a little with Chapter 2, but after that point I pretty much devoured the rest of the story. Also, one character's death had me confused initially, but after careful reflection I realized that it made sense at its core. I highly recommend Killer Koala Bears From Another Dimension for anyone who's looking for a great escape.

Strange

I think this was an interesting foray into a world where things are not as they seem, but a core moral or theme like love prevails through some strange stuff. The ending doesn’t really wrap the story up though, that would be my only gripe, besides that without the love theme the story is kinda pointless.. there is no hero. So it is a different kind of tale but I couldn’t tell judging by reading just the beginning, since I was expecting a “supernatural or urban fantasy like story”. I also did not see the ending coming, it was unusual, and while not exactly satisfying since I like tighter conclusions rather than leaving so many threads open that could lead to more stories. (There was some things left unexplained, especially if it didn’t relate to the two main characters directly.) I get that they wouldn’t have the knowledge themselves but the story is told from a outside point of view but narrowed or zoomed in).

When I read the title of this book, I couldn't believe that I was actually going to read the book. I thought that this was going to be a waste of my time.

I was surprised to find out that right from the start I was pulled into the story. I had to keep reading and find out what happened. The story moved quickly and kept me interested. Not my favorite ending; but it was a very interesting book. I enjoyed reading it!

I got it for free and I'm still not sure it was worth the money. If not the absolutely worst book I've read, definitely top 3 worst.
