Young Amar'e Stoudemire is back in the all-star basketball adventure--STAT: Standing Tall and Talented!
Eleven-year-old Amar'e Stoudemire has had a lot of success playing in tournaments and street ball. But now it's time to try out for his school's team. Amar'e is good enough to play with the older kids, and should probably be a starter. But the players that have been there the longest, generally get the most playing time. Amar'e must deal with helping his team in a different way than he's used to.
Based on the life of All-Star NBA sensation Amar'e Stoudemire, who overcame many obstacles to become one of the most popular figures in sports today.

I like how these books have so much thoughtful advice on how to handle conflict woven throughout the story. Amar'e is an exceptionally good kid, with an exceptionally supportive crew -- both family and friends, but he puts that background to good use,and spreads the good around. This book is mostly one fast paced basketball play after another, but the story holds together well, and the action keeps the book moving. Lot of heart. I do wish they'd lose occasionally, because I'd like to see how they handle it.

Also, the books in this series stand alone really well -- awesome.

This is a fine book for elementary. Kids that really like basketball will enjoy this book/series. Many of the short chapters are details about practice drills and game plays which is a little too basketball for me. I would like to see more character details off the court, but this is a basketball book for basketball kids.

STAT Schooled
Amar'e Stoudemire

The eleven years old boy Amar'e was chosen by school basketball team. He was the only 6th grader in his team. Other people were 7th and 8th grader. Amar'e was a great basketball player at his club team, but at his school team he couldn't play well. As the time passed, he got used to his team, and he could play well. At last he was the one of the important player in the team.

I think this book is good story. Because at last everyone was welcoming Amar'e to the Bears."Welcome to the Bears."(139).

I think people who play sports with older people, or play sports with younger people should read this book. Because this story is about a boy who played basketball with older people. Also this book tells you how to get along with younger player on the team.

This book was magnificent! The writing was powerful and suspenseful. I could relate to this book because when I was in 5th grade I was on the 6th and 7th grade volleyball team, and it took time to get comfortable. The strengths of this book are that it gets you hooked right from the start and it makes you want to keep reading. I only have one weakness for this book, and it is that it didn't tell me how the basketball season went. I would recommend this book to a classmate. This book was the last book of the series, however I haven't read book 2 or 3, but I plan on reading them.
