Great alternative to Rainbow Fairies - group of down to earth princesses rescue animals in peril. Suitable Year 2-3. Books 1-5 about 1 group of friends, this one (book 6), marks start of new adventures with another group of girls. Not princesses waiting for heroes - strong girls who solve problems themselves.
A step up from the Rainbow/Color/Whatever Fairy books. You still get the occasionally suspect grammar choices, as well as dances, ball gowns, tiaras, jewelry, royalty, and ponies. But with this one you also get ninja moves! It's easy to imagine a group of 2nd graders acting out the story, so there is value here if it keeps her reading. Ninja moves!
It was pretty good. I like how they get a twist on the start of the story, instead of the first words being princess Lottie, they're princess Emily. And they don't rescue animals at first either, they get to know each other and trust each other.when they finally do rescue an animal, there rings light up and glow.they had unlocked the power within them, all together.
I gave this book a 4 because it took a long time to the action to start. But it was pretty good when they started meet each other. At first I thought the book was boring. But it got better. Also, in the beginning, I thought Rosalind was kind of rude. At the end I liked her a little more.
