The story behind Telemundo’s Jenni Mariposa del Barrio series, now streaming. A New York Times bestseller, this is the official biography from the beloved Mexican-American singer who lost her life in a tragic plane crash. The only autobiography authorized by Jenni Rivera "I can’t get caught up in the negative because that destroys you. Perhaps trying to move away from my problems and focus on the positive is the best I can do. I am a woman like any other, and ugly things happen to me like any other woman. The number of times I have fallen down is the number of times I have gotten up." These are the last words that beloved Mexican American singer Jenni Rivera spoke publicly before boarding the plane that would crash and cut her life short on December 9, 2012. However, they are not the final words that La Diva de la Banda had for the world. Those are found in the pages you hold in your hands, Jenni’s own account of the highs and lows of her extraordinary journey. She became the most acclaimed Spanish-language singer in the United States and sold more than 15 million records worldwide. A single mother of five and grandmother of two, she was also an actress, a television producer, the star of her own reality show, and an entrepreneur. But for all its immense success, Jenni’s life often seemed to be a series of personal battles in which perseverance was her only weapon. As her fame grew, she made it her mission to speak about her struggles, forging an intimate connection with her fans. She became a figure of strength and a source of encouragement to women of all ages. In Unbreakable, Jenni recounts the crucial moments in her past, revealing her experiences with domestic and sexual abuse, divorce, body image issues, making her way in a male-dominated industry, raising her children as a single mother, and learning that she could depend only on herself. Though she is no longer with us, Jenni will always be the "Rivera rebel from Long Beach," the girl who maintained her sense of humor and fighting spirit in every circumstance. In this remarkable memoir, Jenni leaves behind a legacy of inspiration and determination that will forever live on through her precious family, friends, and fans.

I wasn't a Jenni Rivera fan until after her death. After reading this book, I now more fully understand why so many people loved her. It wasn't just about the music; her life echoed the lives of all the millions of fans she had. She grew up poor, was involved in violent relationships, suffered through domestic abuse, was a single parent, made poor choices more than once, disgraced her family, was on welfare, yet somehow rose to the top despite all the trials and tribulations of her life. Her intent was never to be a music star; she just did what paid the bills and gave her children a better life. She was the most down-to-earth individual and her love for her fans was immense. She never took any of her accomplishments for granted. Sadly, she always wanted to retire and leave the music behind in order to be just a mom to her children and to enjoy her grandchildren. Her untimely death did not allow for that. This book confirmed why she is referred to as "La Gran Senora"...You can't help to come away from this read admiring her strength and inner beauty.

I hadn't heard of Jenni Rivera until I saw an interview with her sister promoting this book. I love female memoirs and I love rags to riches stories. This book has both! She never once apologizes for who she was nor asked for sympathy. She's very to the point and very honest.

This is the story of a strong woman's life. She went through many things in her life including: an 8 year abusive relationship, rape, and suicide attempts. She fought through everything and everyone, including herself, and she ended up becoming (in my opinion) the most famous and known banda singer. She was/is an inspiration even though she was not perfect. However, she passed away in December of 2012 due to a tragic plane crash. This book is her legacy.

in Unbreakable: My Story, My Way Jenni Rivera is a strong woman who faces a lot of difficult decisions in to the music industry cause she is a girl and raising kids as a single mother. The main conflict begins where she starts to get hate because no woman has ever done banda and corridos. will she be able to succeed and not just be known as the sister of Lupillo Rivera?
Overall, I really enjoyed the book The story of her life of how she became to be Jenni Rivera La Diva De La Banda. I was disappointed when i got to the end to hear that she died someone that talented should have not left the world yet but but god puts us here for a reason he is the only one that chooses when are life is over and we did our duty here. Just a warning this book has some really violent and sexual stuff and readers may not like that but that how her life was and if you don't like don't read it.Some areas that were particularly strong in the book where the ones about the guys shes been with and how they were to her and the things that happend to her sister and her daughter the fact thats he wrote about just makes me see that she is a strong woman.

The book i'm currently reading is autobiography, and it is named “Unbreakable My Story My Way” By Jenni Rivera. This book is about a Mexican American singer named Jenni Rivera who spoke before she died in a tragic plane accident. Jenni Rivera passed away on December 9,2012! Jenni Rivera was one of the most the acclaimed Spanish language singers in the United States and sold more than 15 million records worldwide.
Jenni Rivera was daughter of Rosa Rivera and Don Pedro Rivera. Both her parents came to the United states illegally she was the first one to be born and raised in Long Beach California. Due to the fact her parents were immigrants they weren't very wealthy they were very poor at the being. She had 2 older brother and a younger sister and brother.
Jenni Rivera start her book by talking about a tragical moment in her life when she got raped on the back of a vehicle after working and dropping of her sister and brother at their homes. The man who raped her was one of her husband enemies. At the time that the rapping occurred her husband was serving 7 month in prison for smuggling immigrants. After getting raped over and over the man slammed her onto the sidewalk. She promised herself she wouldn't tell anyone about wht had just happen because she was a shame. Even though she felt like dieing and broken down she was couldn't cry because thankful to be alive and also wanted to keep the image of Jenni Rivera the rebel who never lost a fight.
I really enjoy reading my book .It is shocking to find out how strong this woman was by not giving up on life after being raped. I think that if I was in her place I wouldn't be able to stay as strong as she did. I Chose to read this book because Jenni Rivera is one of my most favorite artist and I wanted to read more about her life. So far this book does meet my expectation and I would recommend Jenni Rivera's fans to read it . You will find out so much and find out thing your would be really shocked about . I'm going to continue reading this book .

“Unbreakable” is an autobiography that I fell in love with. A beautiful but heart breaking story is told by Jenni Rivera. She explains her life struggles from when she was a little girl to right before she died. Her life was never easy but she always had her head up and her children were here everything.

The main character is Jenni Rivera due to her telling her story. Jenni was a Mexican- American singer and actor. Her childhood was not easy because her parents were never home to take care of her. It was always her taking care of her brothers and one sister. As she grew older her marriages failed every time and was always a single mother of five kids.

The setting of this story takes place in Long Beach, California from the years 1969- 2012. Throughout the story Jenni Rivera also talks about her adventures in Mexico as she was starting her singing career. When she was younger she managed to get from place to place on a bike with her first daughter and later on showed people she could do it and afford to buy herself a vehicle.

The theme of this autobiography is being unbreakable like the title. She showed the world that a woman can be someone in life even if everything else has failed. Jenni Rivera never gave up because her children always kept her on her feet.

I recommend this book to anyone high school and older because maturity is needed with some of the content. Her life story will be unforgettable.

"Unbreakable. My Story. My way." A biography where the last words of Dolores Janney Rivera (better know as Jenni Rivera) wrote about her extraordinary journey as a Regional Mexican Music singer. Jenni Rivera was brought to us on the lovely day of July 2, 1969. On December 9, 2012 tragedy struck many of our hearts when she boarded a plane that crashed down.
Jenni Rivera was an ordinary women. A daughter, sister, mother of five and a grandmother of two. A married women that struggled with economic issues at point in her life. On top of it she managed to overcome it all.
In the pages you hold Jenni Rivera explains how her fame grew larger and expanded all over the country. She sold more than 15 million records worldwide. Her fame helped her economicly in a huge way. Through it all she always found time to keep her fans happy along with her children. Although sometimes she found her self stuck in her personal problems.
In her book she talks about sexual and child abuse, being a single mother, sex tapes, divorce, and making her way into a music industry that was thought to be for males only. As she became known she decided that she would speak about her struggles in life to help others going through the same.
Over all the book is a great story writtin by her about her life. She will always be remeberd as the Long Beach beauty who lived her life with the highs and the lows. Her humor and way of fighting back to defend herself will forever be rememberd.

BE REAL!

Seriously. This was a quick read, I wouldn't recommend it. I mean this is for someone who didn't know Jenni and wanted to know about her.

Everything in this book is pretty much what she let be known on TV, Interviews and her show I love Jenni. Her family claims they didn't change it but seriously the last chapter was the only thing they didn't let go into detail and we all wanted to know about her fight with Chiquis and her divorce from Esteban.

I gave it 4 stars because it was a good read but seriously it wasn't worth the hype or money. Because the last chapter was probably edited by her sister. it gets 2

Good read

I felt there was more missing , I thought it was gonna be more detailing . I love Jenni but she did not tell us how she felt about her half brother which I think it's a big part of something that happened in her life , I also thought she gonna tell us what happen with Esteban .... biographies are suppose to be raw and tell your deepest secrets and fears.....

We really lost a beautiful person inside and out when Jenni passed. This memoir was very touching and brutally honest. She was a true fighter and a woman to be looked up to. It would have been interesting to see the rest of the pages that were yet to be written had she not passed away.

I really did like this book. There is an excellent message regarding domestic abuse so I'm glad the family decided to publish her memoir. It felt incomplete because tragically, her life was cut short, so sad.

As a Latina, growing up in a world that was built for men was a difficult task. Basically survival of the fittest. We have to work at least twice as hard to earn a small fraction of what a man earns without the same amount of effort. In her biography, “Unbreakable”, Jenni Rivera paints a crystal clear picture of what it is to work in a world managed by men. She has stated numerous times in her book how “difficult and ugly the music industry was”(Rivera 106). Rivera was the daughter of immigrants. She was also a First Generation American citizen in her family. On multiple levels, I can wholeheartedly relate to her. She was raised in a household where they only had enough to feed all in her family. Due to how much she suffered from poverty, she made herself the promise to never let her children experience something even remotely similar to what she had to go through. However, throughout her book, she narrates traumatic events that took place in her home regardless of her endless efforts to prevent them. Rivera, unfortunately, passed away in a plane crash, along with her team, just as her singing career was at its highest. Through her book, it is narrated to us how her life took place. All the hardships she had to go through, all the pain she endured, and all she accomplished.
Something that truly amazed me about the way this book was written was that it was a composition of journals and a rough copy of a book. This book was published shortly after the passing of Jenni Rivera. The style in which the book is written is almost as if Jenni Rivera herself wrote word by word of this book. Even though it is stated that Rivera had already started on the rough copy of her book, she was not alive at the moment her book was published. Toward the end of her book, it is stated, “Jenni had been writing this autobiography for years, but always refused to let it go to print because she didn’t know how it should end”(Rivers 260). Throughout her book, through narrating her life, Rivera utilized foreshadowing on multiple occasions to let her reader know that something was coming but never revealed what it was until the right moment. “ He knows our weaknesses, but He also knows our strengths”(Rivera 96). Not only does Rivera describe her trauma and challenges, but through those narrations, she weaves her faith into it. It is evident that Rivera was a woman of faith and knew whom to turn to when she felt helpless and abandoned. She also utilizes deep detail to explain the unbearable pain she felt in certain moments. She describes how her body went numb on certain occasions and how anguish fell upon her. Although she bore many traumatic events and hardships, she was able to persevere and make it her passion. Regardless of all she went through she never let that dull her dreams and ambitions.
Jenni Rivera’s biography is a book filled with emotions. Very similar to a roller coaster. In one moment there is happiness and joy, but the next it is pain and rage. As I read the book, I found myself thinking, “What would I have done had I been placed in a similar situation?”. I would often stop reading and go deep into thought about how I would’ve reacted. What would I have done differently? As I continued reading a feeling of admiration great within me. It was utterly amazing how much Rivera survived. All she went through would have scared a person to a point in which moving on from trauma like that would be nearly impossible.

Unbreakable My Story, My Way by Jenni Rivera All that glitters is not gold!

My best friend Natalie would play some of Jenni Riveras' music. Even though I don't understand Spanish I can feel how powerful she sings and I enjoy listening to her voice. Based on her music I could see how she was involved with cartels. She was the first Mexican American female banda singer to talk about these kinds of acts, which is why I wanted to learn her story. Once I found out she has an autobiography Unbreakable: My Story, My Way, I just had to read it! I have yet to finish the book, but based on what I've read so far it tells the story of a young beautiful woman who faced difficult decisions in the music industry on top of being a single mother. Jenni was born and raised in Long Beach California. She grew up poor, was involved in multiple violent relationships, however she never let those obstacles take over instead she rose to the top. Her life was never easy but she always held her head up and her children were her everything. While reading this book I would laugh at the little side comments Jenni wrote. Overall from what I've read so far I enjoy the book.

Jenni’s writing style is blunt and captivating. Jennis' use of vivid imagery is used, for example , when she describes the time she was being chased by a white sports car, just right after she just got done performing at a bar. It paints a clear picture inside your head that makes me feel as if I was witnessing this all while it's happening right in front of my eyes, seeing the same things, and feeling those feelings and those same emotions. She also uses a lot of metaphors and similes that convey her message in a more meaningful way. Her writing is very descriptive and filled with a lot of emotion that really helps to draw in her readers. She uses a variety of tones of humor trying to hide the pain she's gone through. She tries to lighten up the situation by using her humor, an example of this is when humor is often used as a coping mechanism to help people deal with difficult emotions, and the narrator is no different. She uses her humor to mask her pain, in this case the pain of her mistakes and trauma. By making light of the situation, she is able to express her feelings without having to confront them head on.

Overall I really enjoyed reading this autobiography learning about Jenni and how she grew up. It's an inspirational book, I rate it 5 stars. I would recommend this book for high schoolers. It tells a great life story that I think most people will enjoy and take into consideration how you view life. I will continue to read this book.

This Autobiography by an Amazing woman and a Be loving bright start that still shines day to day. This book is incredible in many ways first mentioning a #1 fan of her. This Book "Unbreakable" by Jenni Rivera hands down one of my favorite books ever. This great book would be recommended to those hard-working women that has come from a long way. For the women’s who at the point of giving up and thinking is impossible to overcome their problems. Jenni Rivera pours her heart into this book. Making the audience and fans feels more inspiring from her and make us feel we have known her in person. Jenni Rivera had a tough life she went through a lot her childhood and her teenage years. Jenni Rivera was young mom in her teenage years. She had her first child and she had a rough pregnancy and raising her daughter. She had a really violence relationship with her pasts husbands. Jenni Rivera was a mom of five and even though she had a rough life at the beginning she never gives up on her dream and became a great Mexican American Singer and besides that She had a perfume line and a Tequila line where she sold a lot of her stuff and, she made a reality Tv show where her fans and anyone could see her day to day life with her family. Even though the audience or few people that may know how she was by listening to her music and stuff she enjoyed doing, going to her concert, and watching her on TV. In this book where she decided to tell her life in detail and her secrets and her hard moments and her happy moments, she mentions a lot of details that we did not know very much about her and for Jenni Rivera decides to talk about more in detail of her life meant a lot me. Jenni Rivera had a terrible plan crash that took her life away, but her music and her legend that she left us will always be heard.

I first read this book at the age of 12, and have read it numerous times since the first. This book is about a very famous Mexican- American singer and how she overcame obstacles of famine, abuse, poverty, and so much more.
The first time I read this book, I was young and I don't believe that I understood it to its full extent, since then I have read it over and over again, just recently grasping the real life situations that she depicts. She was born into a poor family, however she almost wasn't born at all. Her parents agreed to immigrate to america in hopes of accomplishing a better life for their kids, but after finding out that Jenni’s mom was expecting, they concluded that an abortion would be best. Her mom tried everything from “special teas” to throwing herself into boiling hot water. Nothing worked.
While crossing the border to america, jenni’s mom was pregnant. Once they settled in Long Beach, California, jenni’s mom gave birth to her and named her Dolores. She later went by the nickname of “jenni”. Jenni became pregnant at the age of 15 and had her first daughter who she named “chiquis“ According to Jenni she “got pregnant in the back of a 1979 Monte Carlo. The guy that got her pregnant soon became very abusive and would often beat Jenni in front of their daughter.
Jenni did what was logical and moved out, that was the start of her long life of unfound love and heartbreaks but also the start of her musical awakening and journey to becoming one of the most iconic Mexican- American singers in the history of the Hispanic culture. She went on to have four more kids and win a lot of awards. She was nominated for 113 awards and won 69 of them. She won 22 billboard Latin music awards, 18 Lo Nuestro awards, 11 billboard Mexican Music awards, and 1 BMI award.

Unbreakable
By Jenni Rivera
Review by: Jose Martinez

Lights, sound check, dress on point. This is what Jenni Rivera hears right after her preforms and when she gives a motivation speech. I like this book because it goes into great detail about her life and how she grew up and how she got famous. It’s good because there some things that a lot of people didn’t know about her. The book I am reviewing is Unbreakable by Jenni Rivera. She also famous for having a tv show that people love to watch.
The theme of this book was hard work. It was hard work because she had to find a job and pay for herself. She had to support herself with a help of her dad. When she growing up she had guys leave her when she pregnant and had to take care of the kids for herself. Then had to live in a garage.
Some people might not like how deep she goes into her back story and her childhood. They might not like it how she has pictures in the books because not a lot of people like pictures. They might like it how it flows so good and like it doesn’t miss a detail.
In conclusion, I recommend this book for those people that an autobiography or like to know details about Jenni Rivera’s childhood.

Unbreakable: My Story, My Way, by Jenni Rivera. This book is about famous Jenni Rivera , how she had nothing and then had everything. Jenni grew up most of her life with boys and she got taught to defend herself by her brothers. Jenni would fight boys because they would touch her butt or say things about her she was "La Reina" as her father would always say. Jenni got sexually abused and got pregnant at 15. She had later on ha more kids and more husbands.

I think that this book is sad but it is also a good book that teaches you not to
give up on what you love the most. I thought it was sad how her little sister and daughter got sexually abused by one of Jennis ex husband. (Trino) Even though Jenni had a rough start to the music industry she still made it to be a big person.

I loved EVERYTHING about this book.
It was such a surprised when the "never before seen" pages were published.
My mother was and always will be one of her biggest fans, just like other moms out there.
Her story is definitely one of kind, a latina rags to riches (with a few punches and kicks...no really) along the journey.
The way that she was able to tell her stories through her songs and music was one of a kind.

I was lucky enough to attend one of her last concerts with my mom, the energy was something that I have NEVER seen before...and I was a die hard Nsync kid!
Everyone sang along to EVERY song! People cheered, people cried, people came together!!
Jenni had and is something special. I can go on and on about her, her story and her life but I guess I should leave it as is for others to experience it for themselves.

I am a huge fan of Jenni Rivera, a Mexican-American singer. She passed away in 2012 and her music is inspired a lot from things that have happened in her life. I think this book is very "strong", so to speak, because it talks about her life and how she felt. How she overcame impediments in her life and she proved to her parents and her self that she would become a successful woman. There is Spanish here and there, but for the most part it is inspiring and she gets to tell her story her way, it was her life that she lived and there is no other person to tell it than herself. Really good book to read, even in high school I would of enjoyed this book!

loved this book. sadly it was short due to Jenni Rivera passing but i loved how raw it was. how it showed images of her actual writing and i loved that they didn’t try and clean up the way she wrote. she cursed and said everything she needed to say her way. im glad i got to get a deeper look at her reality. loved the images of her family as well. some very deep topics im glad she touched on. great autobiography. and im glad they didn’t try and finish the book off for her.

Inspirational

This book is real, raw and honest. It represent her in a different level. It tells the story of many of us Latinas who has been in a maze over and over again and manage to survive. Building ourselves with self-success, knowing that 80% of the world is against you. A round of applause for Jenni and her golden ovaries , that let her call it out like it is.... Our Vida Locas
Highly recommend to those that crosses path with this book.
