I absolutely adored this book. It reminded me somewhat of Courtney Walsh’s paper heart in a sense but it was extraordinarily even more creative and surprising and I absolutely recommend this author to anyone who loves Christian fiction
Oh my goodness, "Bride Wanted" has left me absolutely speechless. It has been one of the best Love-Inspired novels that I've ever read. The story line was truly spectacular and quite original. The characters, especially Troy and Destiny, whom I fell immensely in love with, were phenomenal. "Bride Wanted" should be rated at least TEN stars in my book. It was a truly heartwarming and inspirational Christian romance that I will treasure near and dear to my heart forever. I'm so excited to read more from this series based in Claremont, Alabama.
This romance has one of my favorite concepts ever. 12-year-old Troy Lee writes a letter to his future bride as part of a summer camp activity. He continues writing the letters, one a week, for 15 years. Destiny Porter reads some of the letters as part of a contest for her on-line magazine (Troy's grandmother sent them in). I loved watching Destiny change from wanting Troy's permission to publish the letters to wanting to protect them herself. The tension when Troy learns the truth makes sense, and the conclusion was fitting. The fact that it all takes place in a small town gives it an appropriate Hallmark movie feel.
Destiny Porter's online magazine ran a contest looking for the best love letters to publish in an upcoming edition, and they received a gold mine when Troy Lee's grandmother sent some of the letters that he has been writing to his future bride since he was a teenager. Destiny very much wants to publish the letters, but she doesn't have Troy's permission to do so. Now, Destiny has come to Claremont in order to meet Troy and convince him to let her publish his letters. Destiny meets Troy the moment she gets to town but doesn't immediately introduce herself and explain the purpose of her visit. Maybe she wants to get to know him better?
This is the 2nd book I read by Renee Andrews. The only thing I liked about this story is the Christian theme. Everything else about this story didn't interest me.
I loved this book. I wasn't sure if I would. But it was a unique story. I don't want to give too much away but I was definitely rooting for the bride. This was a feel good romance. If you like your romances to be clean then I would think you'd enjoy this one. This book is part of a series but I think it could be a stand alone book or you could read these books out of order. I will say after reading these books for a while (I have been reading in order for the most part ) it does make me want to go visit Claremont, Alabama and see if the town really is the way that the author describes it.
Such a sweet read... Troy Lee has been writing letters to his future wife since he was a boy. Only his family knows about the letters and no one has read them except Troy. Or so he thought. A meddlesome grandmother and ambitious writer have a different story to tell.
Destiny Porter comes to Claremont, AL to convince Troy to allow her to publish his letters in her online magazine. But before she asks, Destiny decides to get to know Troy better. And that knowing leads to more.... but can a relationship be built on secrets? And when Troy learns the truth, will his heart be big enough to forgive?
Sometimes a girl just wants to sit down with a sweet romance and relax. That is what the Love Inspired line from Harlequin is for me. When I want to escape for a bit and not have to think to hard about what I'm reading, this is where I head. I know the Love Inspired line will keep it clean which I also appreciate.
Bride Wanted has all the typical elements that make up a great love story. Interest, attraction, doubt, misunderstanding, heartache and reconciliation.
Troy is a true southern gentleman and he knows what he is looking for in a woman. He just hasn't met her yet. I loved how patient and loyal Troy is to his family, especially his meddling mother and grandmother. He is a kind man with a good heart.
This is an Inspirational Romance so there are Christian themes (church, scripture and praying).
You really get a small southern hometown feel in this book. It almost makes it sound idyllic. I loved getting a mental picture in my mind of the town square with all the shops and decorations for the celebrations. I think this would make a cute Hallmark film. :)
Overall a sweet romance that I enjoyed a lot. A great diversion and an easy read.
this is another excellent book for an excellent author! It's more of a fairy tale than most of her books. How many guys start writing love letters to his future wife when he's twelve, and continues for many years writing a letter once a week? The thought he puts into these letters is something I imagine a girl would write, and that adds to the interestingly greatness of this book. I found myself sighing...
Both Troy Lee and Destiny Porter were very strong characters. I liked that the fact Troy was a mechanic at a gas station didn't become an issue in this book - with him or her...I always hate when a guy's choice of careers embarrasses him...I also enjoyed that the man was allowed to be the man and the woman was a lady - not a feminist...This was just a sweet, romantic book.
You know the conflict was going to come, and you knew what it was but I found myself wishing it didn't have to right before it did (and it was a typical conflict set-up). So even though this book was still predictable, I enjoyed reading it and could hardly put it down!
This book reminded me of a Hallmark channel movie! I loved it and read it in one sitting. I gave this book 5/5 stars. The story itself is pretty typical of two people misunderstanding each other and getting wires crossed. This of course leads to some great reading. It also leads them to eventually find each other. The element of the main male character being the one writing letters to his future wife was especially enjoyed. Most of the time you get the girl doing the writing so I enjoyed that this author did a twist on that story line. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys quick, clean and entertaining love stories!
I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.
Troy lee has been writing letters to his future wife since he was twelve. Now, fifteen years later, a few of the letters have found their way into the hands of a magazine owner who wants to publish them. But first she has to get his permission, so Destiny arrives in Claremont with that purpose in mind. Time passes and as she gets to know Troy and the people of the town, she changes her mind about printing the letters, because it turns out they were written to her. Well, until Troy finds out about her original intention. Then he decides maybe the bachelor life is for him.
Visit Claremont and see how the problems that were created get solved. Enjoy a brief reunion with others from Claremont that we've met over the years.
Overall, a great story. Is it bad that I thought they rushed into marriage too quickly at the end? Can you really just 'know' a person is 'the one' after just one week? I mean, I used to think so, back in in naive younger days. But now in my 30's (and yes, till single, sadly) I just don't find that to be wise, even for Christians. Not if you don't want to get divorced, anyway. It's hard enough knowing if any guy is right for you at all! I could maybe get why Troy was so sure, but Destiny? JMO
I really enjoyed this book! It was so wonderfully descriptive and the setting was wonderful! I would so love to live in a little town where everyone was like that were so close! I really liked all the characters and just wanted to keep reading and reading! I am so looking forward to more books by this author!!!
Fun story, but the religious aspect was a little to blatant for me-maybe not as natural as some. Still, the characters and plot were clever and fun. Clean romance!
