Falling passionately in love with a mysterious, sinfully sexy man can lead to

Something Wicked

Investigative reporter Regan Cluny is in hot pursuit of a reclusive philanthropist who is financing a mysterious archaeological dig in the California desert. Attempting to convince Charles Cunningham Nash to grant her an interview has proven impossible long distance, so Regan sets off uninvited for his dig to woo him in person. Instead, she meets with deadly trouble; a biker gang corners her at a remote rest stop, sabotages her car, and leaves her for dead on a country road. Miraculously, Regan survives with only one strange memory of her attack...and the man who comes to her aid is Nash himself. Strongly attracted to her handsome protector, Regan can't know that Nash is a vampire tied to her attackers by a vicious blood feud that dates back to the Civil War - or that he has hungered for the life and soul of a mortal for nearly two centuries. With the local sheriff determined to nail Nash for the violence perpetrated by his dire enemy, Regan must decide whether the dark secrets of a lover she can't live without are something wonderful...or something wicked.

Catherine Mulvany’s life is a fairy tale. Okay, a fractured fairy tale. At age eleven she fell hopelessly in love with a little town in eastern Oregon. With a population under fifty—counting the cats and dogs—the town didn’t even qualify as one-horse, but the place had character. Character and an abundance of arkayesses.

Never heard of an arkayess? Neither had Catherine. But on the first day of her visit, she became intimately acquainted with one particularly gruesome member of this species—also known as the road-killed snake. Arkayess. RKS. Road-killed snake. Get it?

She did. The hard way.

Catherine was walking along a side street, minding her own business, when the orneriest boy in town came riding down the road on his bike, swinging a dead snake like a lariat. “You’d better run, kid,” he yelled. “I’m gonna wrap this arkayess around your leg!”

She ran.

He followed. (Are you getting that whole fairy tale connection? Knight on a white charger equals boy on a bike?)

When he got close enough, he took aim, then let that snake fly. It cartwheeled through the air with deadly accuracy to coil itself around her bare leg.

The boy was almost as shocked as Catherine; he hadn’t expected to hit his target. So to make it up to her, he proposed...and it only took him nine years to do it. She accepted, of course, and they’ve lived happily ever after in their very own castle.

All right. So it’s really a three-bedroom ranch house, but it has an irrigation ditch out back, and that’s practically a moat, right?

Chemistry yg serba nanggung makin bikin males-malesan saya membacanya. Untunglah novel ini standalone.

I'm not sure why this novel doesn't have a better overall rating on Goodreads and Amazon. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It combines archeology, myths, oral histories, mystery, vampirism and romance in a well written novel with a decent plot. It has a slightly different take on the cause of vampirism and the strengths of vampires, but this isn't the main part of the plot. However mystery, suspense, revenge and romance are. The main characters were strong and likeable with a decent supporting array of characters, both good and bad. While this type of novel is not to everyone's tastes, I will definitely be looking forward to reading more of Catherine Mulvany's books.

This was ok. It was the usual paranormal romance story line. I didn't have to think too much about it and it was good for some escapism.

Something Wicked was a great book to read. I love books with the good and bad guys that clash together through out the story. SomethingWicked was really easy for me to start reading and finish. The main characters struggles with her personal life of slowly dying and the love lust to her mysterious man. Along with murder.

I enjoy reading a little vampire love from time to time. This one was a quick read but a little different from others I've read. Overall good but not knock my socks off good.

Another of those books I purchased years ago and left it to collect dust on my shelf. But, contrary to good wine, a book won't get better with age, it always stays the same. Add to that the over time changing reading preferences of the reader, i.e. me, and you end up with the question "why did I bother to purchase this book in the first case?" Several years ago I would have rated this book at least three stars, but right now I just couldn't get into it.

The story is an any-old variation of the vampire romance theme. This time, our damsel in distress meets her vampire hero at an archeological dig site. Of course, at first they don't get along very well, but because she reminds him of his one and only former true love, they can't keep their hands from another for long. Add to that some bad-ass vampire who wants to destroy the good guy, and here you go.

Unfortunately, neither the story nor the characters managed to hold my attention for long. While the basic plot idea - vampire searching for a miracle well to become human again - was interesting enough, it all seemed too constructed to read smoothly. Furthermore, the development of the relationship between Regan and Nash was so uninspired it never triggered the littlest spark. Rarely have I eyed the page count as often as while reading this novel, hoping it would be over even sooner. I was relieved to find out that some sneak previews were attached at the end, meaning the actual story was several pages short of the whole book.

Conclusion: while I don't mind an experienced implementation of a well-tried plot without surprises (side note: Wrong Turn is an excellent example in the movie genre, unoriginal but entertaining as hell), Something Wicked remains a colourless clone which only adds to the choking masses of unnecessary vampire romance books.

(Note to self: ...guess my vampire romance days are ultimately over...need to clear my shelves from remaining dead weight...)

Just cant get into this book. It has vampire romance cliche #52 in it. The Heroine is a look alike/possible reincarnation of the Heroes long lost love blah blah blah

A different take on the vampire novels I usually read. It was not part of a series, although by the end I wish it were. I really liked this and will read others by this author.
