In Awaken Our Spirit A Journey of Self-Realization and Transformation, author Patsie Smith exposes the state of the human spirit. Our innate longing is to awaken from our spirit’s slumber and to live true to our spirit’s journey. Her words flow from our universal essence that we can hear and recognize with our hearts, and she conveys truth in clear, comprehensible language. Wisdom and clarity naturally become our path and our reality toward unconditional love, true happiness, and peace. The awakening and growth of our inner spirit is the key to the end of fear, ignorance, and suffering. The author is not affiliated with any particular belief system or religion, seeking instead to offer pure and universal wisdom. She offers the truth of our divinity within to all who seek their own ultimate reality and who are on the path of inner growth toward freedom from suffering and transcendence into inner peace. She presents spirituality in the context of all areas of our practical lives and the choices we make toward transformation. Awaken Our Spirit Within seeks to convey the crucial need to wake up to our true selves and make conscious choices on the human journey. It is only through our own individual awakening and living of our spirit's journey that true peace, freedom and unity filters collectively into the transformation of our lives and our world.
Patsie Smith is an Australian of Chinese descent, currently lives in Perth. She has spent the last 27 years of her life searching, seeking and pursuing the truth to our reality and human existence, through studying and exploring various spiritual teachings and wisdom. Her own life journey of self healing and transformation sees her come into the 'full' realization of life and our essence. Her work over the last 12 years as a massage therapist, yoga & meditation teacher, and current studies in Energetic Kinesiology also contribute toward her growth and awakening. The culmination of all these realizations brings about inner shifts which consequently flow through her in powerful messages of transformation with simple clarity and wisdom in the form of her first book.
You can feel the spirit emanating from this book. Truth, Love, and Guidence are strong characteristics this book entails. This book will help you open your perspective to your true potential and awaken your spirit.
Somethings that I Loved about this book was the poetry that was included in a couple of the chapters. I think the reflections at the end of each chapter was a great touch. It is nice to reflect on what was read and giving yourself the time to let it sink in is a great way to absorb the material discussed.
Some of my favorite chapters in this book include, "Why Awaken?". Within this chapter are great descriptions of the types of souls and the stages that each are at. This really had me thinking of the people in my life. I started puting them into there catagory based on the classifications given, it really helped me understand where each of these people that I loved where at on their journey.
I also enjoyed the chapter that was titled "Ways to Awaken". This chapter really taps into the different channels that can be explored including energy centers (Chakras), Meditation, Vibrations and Spiritual teachings.
An enjoyable & explanative spiritual guide, & soul searching for your self. goodreads, firstreads, advance copy. this short and informative book lets us become aware of our OWN spirit, with the realization that we are all a creature of spirit and at one with not only ourselves but also with all the energy around us. Ms. Smith divides the book up into short, very informative and easy to read chapters, each with it's own inspiration whether random or unexpected and I found that the little exercises were comforting as well as completely interesting. The book is broken down into 3 sections: Before Awakening; After Awakening and finally Wisdoms and Teaching... Before Awakening has 5 short chapters each adding to my own spirit awakening.. each chapter has a specific idea and I tried to feel what was happening to me, sometimes easy and others hard but all an enlightening experience. I loved the way each chapter was written and the little exercises for the next stage or chapter which ever I felt. After Awakening, Then What? In this part we all have our own unique experiences whether spontaneous or gradual it is very fascinating. This was a whole new experience for me, the feeling of peace, being at ease with the world, the universe and myself, nearly complete satisfaction.. I have to relax and let the spirit flow freely in and around me. It made me realize that I had been 'asleep' for a very long time. Teachings and Wisdoms does not promote any specific belief or religion but let's you find your own way with a little information to choose from. From Christ's, Buddha's and other religions both formal and your own spirituality that you have gained over your lifetime. Then the fundamentals of right like Christ's belief that you should 'turn the other cheek', or 'do unto others as you would have them do unto you'. Our parents have taught us the difference between right and wrong therefore I think that my own spirit comes from that but others might find other things to express their spirit. Although I do not know what other people might find in this unexpected book, I found it to be enjoyable and life altering but in a slightly different way from Ms. Smith's. To me this wonderful book was inspirational and woke me UP! I gave it 4 stars, although I might up that with further readings. thank you Ms. Smith!!
“A masterless student, learning from all but attached to none.”
I couldn’t help but smile at this description of author Patsie Smith. From the start, it is clear the book does not espouse any one school of thought. Instead, using clear and practical language, Smith shares lessons she has learned along her own twenty-seven-year journey.
Divided into two sections—“Before Awakening” and “After Awakening”—each chapter begins with stick artwork and ends with a short reflection. While the book could be easily read in one sitting, it is better to take time with each chapter, absorbing the succinct and powerful messages. Only then, will you experience the many “Aha!” moments inherent in this book.
Some of my favorite “Aha!” moments...
“The biggest cause of the blindness and shriveling of our spirit is our analytical mind.”
“The words of the Buddha are like a raft built to cross the river. When the purpose is completed, the raft must be left behind if we are to travel further.”
“Sometimes life has its own way of working things out through the power of doing less or doing nothing at all.”
I enjoyed this book thoroughly and will return to it often, keeping in mind Patsie Smith’s advice: “Growing your spirit requires feeding it every day with wisdom, teachings and direct learning experience.”
Like many avid readers I have embraced book after book searching for the deeper meaning to our existence...a quest that as we age becomes more urgent!
Too Awaken is to understand that much of what we experience on a daily basis is but an illusion...often it just makes no sense...and endless dance just to survive.
Here is a book that provides clarity in this clouded existence. Its not so deep that you wont 'get' the message. Chapter by chapter you will experience numerous 'ahah' moments...provided you're ready and open to Awaken to what can be.
As I reflect back on my read of this book it is obvious the impact it has had on me personally...I couldn't put it down until I'd read it cover to cover, and each page is covered with highlighted points to further ponder.
It's that good in its message that I'm about to begin a re-read, on this occasion though I plan to implement many of the gifts that Patsie shares into each and every day.
This is a book from a new author that you must put into your have to get a copy list.
I can't wait for the next installment from this author.
It looks like a book you could read in a couple days. It's not like that at all. As suggested by Patsie Smith, you do need to reflect on each chapter as its got a lot information to take in. Highly recommend it, especially as you can refer to particular chapters that you may need at a certain time of your life.
In a world where science has increased our logical understanding of humans and their behaviour this book goes deeper into what ties it all together. The soul! Not a religious soul but the very essence of who we are. And the path to understanding it through true uninhibited awareness of ones self and the environment we live. Very well written, easy to read and thought provoking.
I didn't read this book all at once...I took over a month reading it bit by bit (as is recommnded in the opening). This book came at a good time in my life, and has been helping me find peace within myself, and to deal with my issues. I would recommend that anyone who is going through a difficult time read this, reguardless of the problem, I am sure it will help
