This book is about Dante's adventure through hell as well as a love story about Penelope and Dante. Dante must go through Circles of hell which shows Sinners being punished according to what sin they have done. I really liked this book because every punishment that the sinners were given were ironic and was interesting to read. It makes me want to read the other two books of Dante.

This is not the version of the book I read. Goodreads was way to difficult for me to look up the version I read and get it posted. My translation of the Divine Comedy is by John Ciardi. I have no idea how good of a translation this one is. My translation is very readable, still has a poetic verse to it, and has an exellent foot note system to it so that some of Dante's more obscure references can be explained. I was reading the end of the Divine Comedy today. And there is a part where all of the traitors are frozen in ice with their heads just above the ice. That image will stay with me the rest of my life.

this is a must read book it talks about the levels in hell, and and all torture ,all the sins according to the punishment and, no mercy in hell.. Also talks about paridise The Father, son , holy sport.. Once I read this
