ok first I have to say I absolutely love lyzee and Ethans love story and how lyzee loves unconditionally. I can see how she can love both Ethan and Callan and even went to grandad for Callan so he can have a chance at love. I didn't really like the way desi was manipulating the blackhawks/whitefox family she really was a spider. love it can't wait to finish the next books.

The book follows Ethan and elizabeth Blackhawk and Ethan's brother Callen who was reunited with his family in the last book. Callen is secretly in love with Elizabeth but when he meets the new Medical examiner Desdemona he hopes he can find the love he craves with her that he can never have with his brothers wife.
The team are called to the little town of red river where a number of male bodies have been found all missing a different part of there anatomy. But but when the killer decides that Callen is to be killed to get the final piece they need, Elizabeth has to rush to find the killer before its to late.
Amazing story never saw the plot twist coming, keeps you guessing to the very end. Loved the new characters, but as always really love it when Elizabeth has to put the locals in there place!

Angst, murder, and new characters

Book 3 builds on the relationships in the prior two. Probably best to read those first because there are a lot of inside jokes and you might be frustrated about missing the reference.

This one was hard to read because it doesn't follow the standard romance tropes. There are times when I wanted to shake sense into the characters. The author for a explain her reasoning for this at the end of the book and given her character development and improvement in writing from book 1, I give here the benefit of the doubt that all this angst is worth it.

Fascinating twist with the killer. I'm almost sorry that there wasn't a way to further expand on the killer's psychology beyond what was provided. The way it was written greatly explained the killer's thoughts, it's just that sometimes the why and how of isn't always enough (same in real life like thinking there must be more to it). Ah well, I'm still intrigued and continuing to the next book.

Not what I expected

Finished reading this and was sincerely looking for SOME sort of happiness for the 2 characters that book is focused on. Nothing. Nope. Nada. Just heartbreak and sadness. It's a lead-in to the next book. I went ahead and read the descriptions of the next several books and....I'm done with this series. I'm all about understanding that you can't help what the heart wants and I'm all for it. But this book? Ugh. I usually feel good at the end of a book. After this one? I was angry.

Case:
While I did figure out what the killer motives where I didn't see the twist coming the case definitely had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out the killer's identity all the way until it was reveal. I don't want to spoil it so I'll leave it as that.

Ethan/Elizabeth/Callen/Desdemona:
Ethan/Elizabeth/Callen relationship is truly my favorite thing so far about reading theses books, I love how they hold each other up when the one of them fails and how supportive and loving they are. I really like Ethan, his conversation with both Elizabeth and Cal about Cal's feelings towards his wife shows how wonderful a man/husband/brother he is. He could have chosen to pretend like he didn't see what was going on but instead he chooses to to confront the situation head on and let both of them know how he feels it and where he stands in regards to it. Gotta say even if I hadn't read the next book first I could still where the ground work was heading towards.

Like I already mention that I read book 4 before I read this one I was determine that I would be objective about the relationship between Cal and Desdemona and base my feelings solely on what was happening in this book and this book alone, by doing so I was able to see how wrong both of them are for each other. Instead of Desdemona handling the whole Cal is in love with Elizabeth like Ethan and confront them both about it and let them know how it makes her feel, she chooses to be dishonest and pretend like it doesn't bother her when it does. No matter how many times that those around her open the metaphoric door for her to be honest and state how she really feels and thinks.

A relationship that starts with lies and half truths are doomed to end

Cal on the other hand goes into the relationship with Desdemona being honest about his feelings for Elizabeth, he makes it clear to her that what he feels for Elizabeth is strong and very deep and won't be going away anytime soon or ever but also tells her that his heart has room for her in it too. I appreciate the fact that Cal made his feelings known and chose to be honest to Desdemona, not that he really needed to since everyone who sees him and Elizabeth together pretty much knows that he's in love with her but it showed that while his heart belong to another he was committed to making it work with Desdemona and that he does love her as well.

This book has so much foreshadowing about the relationship between Ethan/Elizabeth/Callen/Desdemona that I don't want to give away that I am going to leave this sentence just as it is.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book from the first page to the last the case was interesting and creepy.

I am excited to read book 4, this book brought everything into perspective for the main characters (Ethan, Elizabeth & Callen) and was nice to see unfold. Callen's character was deeper and changed- in a good way! Kept me waiting until the end to see who was the killer-kept my attention the whole time. I was happy to see Callen find some sort of happiness and contentment, I thought Ethan was my favorite of the two but Callen took that role. I can't wait to see what comes next and how they'll continue to grow personally.

Laugh...kiss...cry... slap.... you will want to do each

First, the story is amazing and the author wove a tale that I could see unfold like a movie in my mind. The character development is incredible. The twist made me want to scream and the romances at points scream more. In a good way. I cannot wait to read the next book.... thankfully it is already downloaded and ready for reading.

I didn't see that one coming! If you knew the twist at the end, you had insider information!
That was STELLAR!
I love how you have mixed emotions at the end as Morgan sets you up for the next book.

Again 500 plus pages for a measly 2.99 COME ON! I am so in love with the Blackhawks, I would have paid more!
