After committing a brutal crime against Romul’s prince, Rel fled the mortal-dominated north to Witch Country. She wasn’t welcomed in the covens, though, so she found a sanctuary in an empty swamp instead.
And that’s where she’s been hiding ever since.
Until the Wolf of Romul, the deadliest witch hunter, somehow finds her after two years.
Even as she fights with knives and teeth to get away, the witch hunter continues to hunt her and ruins any of her escape plans. As they journey further from her swamp, they’re forced into situations that reveal more of their truths, and it soon becomes apparent both are more than what they seem.
Lines are blurred, morals questioned, and touches stolen until the hunter becomes just as trapped in his snare as she is.
And neither of them may survive it.
Ember and Eclipse is a steamy, slow burn enemies to lovers, witch X witch hunter, adult fantasy romance. As a Coven of Ruin series standalone, it can be read before or after book 1, The Coven of Ruin.
T.K. Tucker has been writing since she was a little girl, weaving Rurouni Kenshin and Lord of the Rings fanfiction into one chaotic story. In other words, she’s been unhinged from the start. A few years ago, she quit her career to write full-time—and made that everyone’s problem.
With a vivid and dangerous imagination, a black heart that still feels too deeply, and lived experiences that bleed onto the page, her books reflect the ache to create something beautiful and meaningful—and leave bruises while doing it. From infinite stars to dark, bloodstained kingdoms, one must be wary when reading her work: she wields anguish and angst like daggers and always has more hidden on her person.
When she isn’t emotionally damaging others, she’s getting lost elsewhere through video games, travel, or daydreaming beside her familiars. As a three-time victim of the cat distribution system and bonded to her soul dog, she's always in good company while scheming.
As some friends know, I don't love enemies to lovers, but something about this blurb caught my eye. I really enjoyed Ember and Eclipse, it's not perfect, but it was layered, kept me engaged, and had dynamic characters. The setting, the characters, and the plot were all fascinating. Rel (h) is a witch who's found a home in a swamp after she ran from the human kingdom she grew up in. Her background is slowly revealed but she suffered horrific abuse before her magic dramatically protected her. Sadly, Rel didn't find acceptance with a coven once she left the human kingdom and instead she's built a peaceful, but lonely, existence in her swamp. Plus, she's befriended crocodiles in the swamp, one in particular who was super endearing.
Except Rel's sanctuary is violated when witch hunters track her down and she must defend herself or be taken back to certain death. One hunter is infamous for his witch hunting skills, Devdan (H) the Wolf of Romul, and he makes it clear there is no escaping him. This is a high stakes situation for both and their clashes result in slow reveals and big developments. Written in third person, single POV of h's. No ow drama, some om drama from a couple of men who are interested in h (I can't say more without spoilers, though h is not romantically interested in anyone else), and neither appeared to be virgins (no history given for H and a vague mention for h that she'd seen a couple naked men previously).
I did like both characters, though Rel is definitely easier to love because her journey is front and center and Devdan’s is less so. Rel was more often vulnerable and conflicted because of her past and her capture. Devdan takes time to show that soft underbelly. The romance here is built so slowly, even when Rel and Devdan begin to see each other differently, the romance aspect doesn't truly hit until the latter part of the book. They are genuinely enemies and there are times when Rel considers killing him. Tension is high between them because of their adversarial roles, but also because of moments where they're forced to be close to each other since Rel is his captive. It was hard to see how a romance could truly blossom with Devdan taking Rel back to her nightmare so I do appreciate how the author didn't force that given the plot. Devdan also has preconceived ideas about Rel, because she's a witch, that get challenged over time spent with her. Rel knows nothing about Devdan besides his reputation and that he's her captor so those boundaries take time to soften and reveal some of his past and secrets. Some kissing does happen, but steamy times don't occur until very late in their story due to the delay in getting to the romance. That said, there are a couple of steamy scenes still and they're well written and a nice payoff from all the tension built.
I did feel that there was a conflict with how the author built certain connections and sadly, I can't elaborate more on that without spoilers. Connected to that, Devdan's past and loyalties were also confusing at times. His character development in general was enticing, but needed more, and it was hard that we didn't get his POV in this book. For example, when I was signing up for the author's newsletter, there was a snapshot of this book and it mentions that the characters are older, including that Devdan is in his 40s. While it makes sense once it was pointed out to me, it made me realize how challenging it was to work out some of his personal timeline. He's also clearly got some softness deep down that doesn't get as much opportunity to be showcased. Some elements of this world were also mentioned without being explained clearly and though these weren’t usually super important, they niggled at my brain. I also wish there had been a map of the kingdoms involved at the front of the book esp given that they spend a significant amount of the book traveling.
Plot-wise, I feel like there needs to be somewhat of a spoiler here because given the plot, in order for Rel to get from where they’re going to getting a HEA, it’s obvious that big things have to happen. Rel and Devdan spend a lot of page time on their journey back to the human kingdom. The time spent in the human kingdom itself goes about what you’d imagine given Rel’s history. But while there, a whole lot of moving parts finally get connected and quite a bit occurs in dramatic fashion to then result in Rel getting back to safety. I did think the time spent in the human kingdom was uneven, with some scenes described in elaborate detail, and then one scene in particular feeling too rushed and leaving me a little lost (I still have lingering questions about what exactly went down). Justice is served however.
This does have a HEA and the final few chapters of the book are very emotional in showing how Rel and Devdan adjust to what a HEA even looks like. It’s not completely smooth just because they’re safe though. I would have liked a bit more fleshing out and just more time for this portion of the book. But this is also where all that tension comes to a head and the deeper relationship development can finally take root. Thankfully, some hard conversations are had and Rel also is able to process instead of just shove emotions down. Plus, we’re back with our amazing crocodile friend. Another twist does happen, that I wasn’t crazy about, but maybe was needed to then allow for the final scene of the book, which I did like. I downloaded the bonus epilogue available through the author’s newsletter that’s in Devdan’s POV and I was so satisfied with it, I 110% recommend if you read this book that you download that bonus epilogue. I do think some friends would enjoy this and I’d absolutely try another book by this author.
Trigger warnings: There is a list of content warnings at the front of the book that the author provides and please, please, please read them. While this isn't a dark book, severe abuse and violence are mentioned on page.
4.5 ⭐️ I gobbled this up! It’s a fantasy romance stand alone that kept me up all night. I don’t think I’ve read a book this fast in MONTHS! It has everything I love… mid 30’s characters, A literal SWAMP WITCH (with a crocodile bestie) X WITCH HUNTER 🤌🏽 The captor X captive dynamic was great. Super slow burn romance (ending in 2 🌶️) While also having depth with abuse trauma & ptsd. The writing bingeable—not perfect but had depth to the issues and some poignant & beautiful lines! All wrapped up with some great tropes I didn’t expect: 🐊Fake dating 🐊One bed 🐊Who did this to you 🐊Body warmth 🐊Caring for her wounds 🐊”there she is” 🐊feminine rage 🐊others I won’t say for spoilers…
Over all I loved it & will definitely keep reading this authors work!
This book was a lot of fun. I love enemies to lovers and for the most part, this was great.
I hated that she had to suffer again.
I also hate how the author showed them fighting in the epilogue and, instead of getting into why they fought and showing them resolve things in a healthy way, Devdan uses sex. Rel asks him to sleep alone outside and he ends up touching her to see that she's aroused and then spanking her. It left a bad taste in my mouth since he had been so careful about consent before they were an official couple.
Let me say this loudly for the authors who would care about consent. AROUSAL IS NOT THE SAME AS CONSENT. BEING IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH SOMEONE IS NOT THE SAME AS CONSENT!
Ugh. She gets a spanking!? Ya. It can be kinky. But not in this circumstance.
Way to end the book on a low point for me. I didn't even care after that.
I received an ARC for this book and I’m leaving a voluntary, honest review.
***
At the end of this book, I had tears in my eyes. I loved this so much, I never wanted it to end. I wanted to know all about the vines, about the swamp, about their favorite colors, everything. I wanted to rage with Rel, feel the passion that drove the witch Hunter and I wanted to see the world burn with their love. And I got it all and it was perfect.
There had been many years where she hoped for someone to protect her, to care for her, to take her away. The desires and daydreams of a little girl who would have done anything to be saved. In the end, the only person willing to save her was herself. There would never be a champion fighting for her honor, a lover burning the world down to get to her.
Oh Rel.
From the very beginning, I could feel a kinship with her. The way she had never fully belonged anywhere is something I have felt also and while it breaks my heart, I understand where she’s coming from. There were so many moments where I wanted to wrap my arms around her and just let her cry. She’s a beautiful woman, inside and out, and I love her strength, her compassion and her stabbiness.
The way that the world from book one was expanded but also looked from a totally different perspective was amazing. Having read book one, I could recognize some things but a lot was totally new information to me and I loved learning each and every one of them. Now I’m very curious if characters from these books will meet and I cannot wait to see that. The mayhem will be epic, especially after that conclusion.
Because the end of the book is phenomenal. We got not one, but two huge endings in this book (you’ll see what I mean) and both of them were wonderful. Stunning, one might would say. And it was definitely worth all the enemies to lovers slow burn we got. Because that slow burn felt good and the resolution felt really earned. Yessss.
Oh boy. What a truly wonderful and amazing story. Rel and Devdan, you’ve stolen your place in my heart for sure.
angsty enemies to lovers with morally gray mmc! witch hunters! dancing! forced to share a bed! crocodiles!!!
i feel that we are all Rel at one time or another. wanting to be alone, wanting not to be alone, desperately wanting to feel like someone gives a fuck about you, wanting to burn everything down along with those who hurt you. the author knows how to write a book of healing, that's for sure. i felt every emotion that Rel felt. and shes such a LETHAL badass. like, cutthroat. and she met her even more lethal, even MORE grumpy match in the Wolf of Romul.
i absolutely loved reading this book. while the book felt in-depth with amazing descriptions of Rel's swamp, the town, the bakery (my favorite), and the characters, it was still fast-paced which is my favorite kind of read. the writing style is very easy to follow and get immersed in. and alllllll the tropes! forced to share a bed, enemies to lovers, tending to wounds, secrets, found family. i only wish i could learn more about the witch lore and i hope the author makes more books in this universe.
I want to thank T.K. Tucker and the team at BookFunnel for sending me an advanced reader copy <3 i appreciate the opportunity! this is my honest review. i highly recommend giving the book a read when it comes out 9/29 and its on kindle unlimited!!
**keep in mind this book does feature (good) spice toward the end of the novel, and there is mention of torture, gore/death (no main characters), and implied sexual assault**
I really enjoyed getting to know Rel and her history, she is a very strong MC and I loved being in her POV for the whole story. This book had a lot of my favourite fantasy romance tropes (SPOILERS: one bed, forced proximity, fated mates etc.) and I did enjoy that the FMC and MMC were more mature. Devdan was a great love interest and I loved his backstory as well. My only gripe is I wanted even more from the story, it was short and sweet but also meant that some things were moving too fast to really sit and feel the weight of them.
SPOILER thoughts now... The main "quest" of the story is bringing Rel and Devdan to Romul and how horrible she was expecting that outcome to be... but, while she did suffer while there for sure, it felt like the whole conflict with the Imperator was resolved in a few pages with over 25% of the book still left (what was the magic extracting machine? What were the consequences of them stealing witches magic? I wanted more from the villains!) While I loved Rel and Devdan getting to know each other more in her swamp (obsessed with them), it felt like the alpha fight storyline was just thrown in order to have some sort of exciting incident in the final chapters. Maybe if it had been set up better? Overall though, I couldn't put this down and loved their little Happily Ever After in the swamp.
While looking for an enemies to lovers, witchy plot, I encountered this book and felt compelled to pick it up. It's safe to say it didn't dissappoint, but rather surpass my expectations ✨️✨️ "Ember and Eclipse" takes us through a dangerous journey of magic and survival. I completely fell in love with Rel, our main character; she was extremely relatable in so many ways ❤️ I loved how strong and resilient she was, and how the author explored the topic of solitude with her story. Her growth turned out to be really inspiring and empowering. I feel like any woman can relate to her story on some level, which I love to bits 🥰 The. Romance. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA (Yeah, that sums it up...) Jokes aside, we ended up getting a truly beautiful, heart-warming love rollercoaster 💜 Devdan's character was just as well-rounded and amazing as Rel's. Their strengths and weaknesses complemented each other's so perfectly, allowing them to grow and learn together ✨️ A really beautiful story 😌 Also, I was really fond of the writing in this novel. The descriptions (particularly of the swamp 😭) were soooo magical and vivid. A pleasure to read about 😉
Rel is a swamp witch on the run who found solace in an abandoned swamp with gators as company. She was fully content on living her life in solitude until a witch hunter tracked her down after two years. The Wolf of Romul is not an easy opponent and they engage in deadly battles constantly. He continues to hunt her and puts a stop to all of her escape plans.
This is a very fast pace book with very descriptive action sequences that will keep your attention and a slow burn romance that is so satisfying. The characters are very well flushed out and I especially loved Rel and her complexity. The need to belong is so relatable and I just want to hug her! This world is really harsh and brutal but really mesmerizing.
TK Tucker is my instant add-to-cart author. The way she writes is so genuine and heartfelt that you can't help but get pulled into the characters. Rel was just another example of that to me. I found myself wrapped in her rage and fear, wanting to belong somewhere, anywhere, and at the same time nowhere. I loved the swamp and the peace she felt there was palpable through the pages. As her books are, the emotional roller coaster was fierce, and I won't go into much more detail because I do not want to ruin anything for readers but suffice it to say be prepared to hate and love deeply, with SO MANY relatable quotes and insights for anyone dealing with past hurts and repressed anger. The pain and rage represented in her magic was cathartic. Burn everything little wildfire, everything! Perfection! Thank you T.K. Tucker for the honor of being able to read this as an ARC even though I would have been waiting until midnight just to download it because my heart will always be ensnared by this series! I can't wait for the next book!!!
The way I stayed up until 4 am to finish reading this book. Both of the characters put a spell on me with their stabby enemies to lovers slowburn of a romance. The fast pacing of the book, the events that kept unfolding and the slow build of tension between these two made it impossible for me to stop reading. I tried and failed, so I stayed up most of the night to finish it. Because I had to know how it ended, I had to know if he would come back for her. I had to know what would happen to her once she was back in the place she escaped from.
Those last chapters were perfection and that little dip into found family made it all complete.
Rel and Devdan are still taking up space in my head and I can't focus on anything else because all the events from the book are tumbling around in my brain. He is grumpy, she is filled with rage. She's a swamp witch, he's a witch hunter and perhaps a little bit more.
And of course I can't end this review without mentioning the bestest swamp puppy around; Aloysius.
Shhhh, don't tell anyone but Aloysius is the real star of the book.
I have a special place in my heart for 'a coven of ruin' by the same author so I had high hopes. And she did deliver! This standalone was fantastic! The chemistry, the built up, the tension... it's all there! It's not as deep and multi plotted as her other book but it's a really great funny and cute romance with witches, hunters and... well you have to read to find out ;)
This was a quick fun read! A standalone that has left me excited to delve into the other books in this realm. Spicy dark swamp witch and witch hunter slow burn enemies to lovers.
This was so good. I cried and fell in love with this man over and over again. Some authors try to write strong FMC, but this is truly how it's done. Love!
I received this ARC via the author. When I read "stabby enemies to lovers," I signed up as fast as I could! This is the second book I read from T.K. Tucker, who has become one of my favorite authors. I can not say how much I loved this book! It came at the right time for me to read. It's one of my best reads this year. The characters, the story, the setting....It was all perfect! I want to go live in that swamp! ✨️ Devdan & Rel are everything for me💕
Enemies to lovers, witches, magic, strong female main character, well written- what's not to love? I also loved that the characters were in their 30s. It seems that most romance fantasy characters are in their late teens and early 20s. It was a nice change. The pacing of the story was also great, and I couldn't put it down. I'm definitely interested in reading more from the author.
Thank you to the author for a copy of this book - here is my honest review.
I was incredibly excited to dive back into the world I'd started to see unfold in The Coven of Ruin and Ember and Eclipse didn't disappoint.
As stated you can read Ember and Eclipse before or after TCOR but I enjoyed a few of the references scattered throughout having read TCOR already. Something else I appreciated was that the gods didn't play a role in this story as in TCOR so it added to the reverence of them imo.
Title: Ember and Eclipse Author: T.K. Tucker Release Date: 29th September 2023
E&E will emotionally destroy you (in a good way I promise). The slow burn and angst is exquisite. As I've said before this isn't an emotional roller coaster it's an emotional jack hammer.
Rel and Devdan's hatred for each other and the obvious attraction that simmers beneath the surface increases the tension to an almost unbearable amount.
I loved the moments where they each give the other a little more of themselves.
When they were talking about the witches and Ares - Devdan's quip about her not knowing anything about witch history was a nice little nod to The Coven of Ruin for me.
What I think Tucker does so well is that she doesn't hold back with the harshness of the world she has created. Some of it isn't easy to read (please read content warnings). And with that she has given us Rel who is so fierce but in a forced independency that also leaves her so lonely it hurts to read.
"Sometimes she saw him, a shadow within a shadow. It was Hades, or maybe it was Charon, his ferry prepared just for her. Except she had no coins to give to him. She would go with him, though, even if it meant she was cursed to stand on the shores of the Underworld for eternity. She hadn’t belonged anywhere in this life, and it would be no different in her afterlife."
I also love that even when Devdan has revealed certain things, he gives her the time to come to terms with it one way or another. And even after that, it shows their raw vulnerabilities play out as they settle into life together.
The spicy scenes are intense and the climax (ahem) to such a good slow burn - it's rare that these scenes blend so well with the story and I say that as an avid fantasy romance reader.
This book has the best HEA - and I'm not sure if it's possible timeline wise but I'd love for them to cameo in Trista and Ares' next book!
So, in short - I loved this book so go pre order it so I don't have to get weird and bug everyone about it.
⁃ Touch Her and Die ⁃ Witch/Witch hunter ⁃ Fake Marriage ⁃ Captive romance
Rel, or Esmerelda, escaped court life and torture to live in an abandoned witch’s house in a swamp near the border. She managed to survive while other witches were killed
because the prince liked to use her as a pincushion doll
, but she had a ‘Wanted Dead or Alive’ poster on her. I like her ingenuity.
Her respite only lasted a year. When hunters arrived, she managed to kill two before the third captured her. They spent a large amount of time returning to the kingdom she tried to escape. No amount of explaining stopped him from claiming the bounty, but there was a reason: his shifter pack was bound to the king. He was literally under a geas to bring her in.
I thought the plot too basic for my tastes, but I was surprised. TK Tucker managed to incorporate a bit of politics, with the king’s desire to use witch fire against witches, and the shifter culture caught in between. There was even the campaign of destruction against native peoples. The best parts of the plot came during her capture and return. Devdan, her captor, decided to hide their relationship with a fake marriage in order to keep her close, and she found a way to force him to buy her an expensive necklace and dance with her all night. The ending included two intimate scenes but was too slow for me, like an extended epilogue after the HEA. I docked a point for the slowdown in pacing, but you might actually want that! But overall, I enjoyed the novel.
I received this book from the author, and as a thank you here is my honest review.
I don’t really know where to start because I adored this book – I might also be a bit biased because I fell in love with T.K. Tucker’s writing style in The Coven of Ruin, so I was expecting to enjoy this book a whole lot, and I did.
This book is stabby, steamy, sexy, and so cute. A very fun and quick read. It is definitely more romance than it is fantasy – which I didn’t mind, but it is something to remember when reading this book. Rel was so cute, but also such a badass when she had to be. Devdan was charming, funny, and an absolute simp for Rel, which I loved.
Having read The Coven of Ruin before reading this book, I loved to see more of the universe that T.K Tucker is building, and also a different side of that same universe. More world is explored, more creatures are added to the universe, and more history is added to the universe. It gave me more of an insight into how the whole world in this universe is set up – I would love to see a map of this place someday, but that is just a little side note.
One of my favorite chapters where toward the end of the book, chapter XLIII. It was just so domestic, and cute. Rel teaching Devdan about her swamp and all the dangers that lay within and later in the chapter when Rel started to realize what she wanted. My heart definitely beat double time during THAT scene.
Devoured this book in less than 24 hours. Give me Devdan and Rel any day of the week!
This was such a cute, fun read. Easy to follow and quick to get you wrapped in.
The dynamic and banter between Devdan and Rel had me kicking my feet and smiling the whole way through. The backgrounds of both main characters made their romance even more touching because they just knew what they needed and how to move forward.
This plot was resolved relatively quickly and focused more on the romance but it was tasteful & I was NOT mad at it at all.
Loved every second of it ❤️
Quotes:
“I suggest taking your hands off my wife.”
“You can hate me and be cold. Or you can hate me and be warm. As for me, I’d like to get a few hours of sleep not interrupted by your clacking teeth and trembling.”
“Who did this to you?” His voice was softer, less of a demand, but no less gruff. “And why?”
"Devdan had said that he made a revolution out of his life. Death would be hers."
“I know it’s a lot,” he murmured. “And I’m sorry. For all of it. At any given time, you can command me to go, and I will.”
“But maybe that’s what you want. Because pain feels more familiar than comfort. Chaos more suitable than peace. Hatred a safe haven for your heart.”
“Tell me to leave, Rel. But if you let me stay, I will fight with you and relish in all my victories.” At this, she scoffed, but he continued. “But more importantly, I will fight for you. For us. For this home in this swamp.”

📚 There’s a bounty on her head. 🫖 WHEW. This was soooo good!!! The writing was damn near flawless, and the world building was incredible. Rel is such a symbol of strength and resilience, it's impossible not to admire her. Devdan is a big ole cinnamon roll wrapped in a thorny, grumpy exterior who has also had to deal with trauma and rejection in his past. The 2 of them together are one big angsty ball of amazing. This is a sloooooow burn, but the story is so good and so well written that the wait is more than worth it.
This book was absolutely fantastic. From the premise I could tell there was going to be a lot of tension between the two main characters and that didn't disappoint. Rel is a witch on the run and she has been staying in a swamp far away from civilazition. She still keeps her guard up and for good reason cause one day the witch hunters arrive. Rel manages to kill two of them but she gets captured by the Wolf of Romul the deadliest hunter of all. So the premise of witch/witch hunter is done so well it's a true enemies to lovers story. Rel really is a feisty witch and tries to get away from the hunter to her best ability but he always menages to find her again. He is also such a grumpy pants and is not in the mood for Rel's talks. My fave part was definitely when they had to pretend to be husband and wife while staying in a city on the way back to the kingdom. Rel annoyed the wolf until the end just cause she could. If you are looking for a fantasy romance enemies to lovers grumpy hunter standalone book this one is definitely one for you! I enjoyed every page and was quite attached to the characters by the end. Thank you so much TK Tucker for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
I love this book. I dont think you understand how much I mean that so I'll repeat it, I love this book! I read coven of ruin and that was super fun! This book feels like something completely removed though and I was so here for it. I hope we meet these two again either in the main series or the author writes another side book for them because I was so insanely taken by them. I only gave it 4 stars because there were a few moments that I was not a huge fan of but the core relationship between these two was so good. Is it a little predictable? Yes but, hot take, that doesn't make a book bad. If you're able to give enough information that a reader can predict certain plot points, it means you've given them adequate set up. I also loved how the author worked with tropes but doesn't rely on them so heavily that they felt overdone? Just, the romance was given just enough room to breath and felt as satisfying as it could for a one off book I think. And they were actually enemies! I'm so tired of "enemies to lovers" secretly being "misunderstanding solved by 1-2 conversations". If your main couple doesn't literally involve one of both blooding and/or bruised, they weren't really enemies.
Oh boy, the ending made my heart soar, I had to sit in silence for a while, smiling like a fool! T.K. Tucker's writing was so beautiful and immersive it made me completely forget that I would absolutely not survive living in a swamp. Or running for my life through the forest. I may have an unhealthy urge to befriend a crocodile now.
Our FMC Rel is amazing, tenacious is honestly an understatement. She keeps fighting and absolutely refuses to give up or give in and I loved her for it at every step. Devdan, sweet Devdan. I don't know if I've ever been in love with a MMC quicker, and then we get to see just how patient, kind, and caring he is at his heart? I almost couldn't take it. I love these two so so much, I may need some time to recover from their brilliance.
The plot was interesting and I feel like something larger may be going on in this world (I haven't read Coven of Ruin yet, so I could be wrong).
Where do I even begin with this book? T.K. Tucker is an amazing author and the way she writes is so UGHH I LOVE IT!
The characters. Let’s start with Rel. Rel’s backstory is so heart wrenching but you’re somehow still able to relate to her and how she goes about her life and why she does so. Every new detail I learned about her brought tears to my eyes and just made me love her more and more.
Now Devdan. Gods, he was DEFINITELY SOMETHING. They both dealt with the fear of rejection. Just from different situations, but they still were the same nonetheless. We didn’t get much about his backstory until afterwards BUT it all made sense as to why he is the way he is. I JUST LOVED HIM OMG
Please do not hesitate to read this book. This, and Coven of Ruin will forever be lodged in my brain and heart.
Reading is an adventure. You fall upon a book which takes you to a new world. You can feel touch, smell, see realms existing besides you, make new friends and share their feelings their devastation, despair, loneliness, rage but also hope, compassion, grit, and finally love. That book was that adventure for me. Once in a while among the pile of books you found one that is a diamond in the rough. This one is just that only it isn't rough and it is really an emerald. The witch and her hunter, enemies both outcasts no so different in their loneliness in their resilience they journey through the land to an end that will make you hold your breath until it's over. I couldn't put it down and I didn't want to finish it at the same time. Well done for this author. Well done T.K Tucker.
I absolutely LOVED this book! As a romance , it checks all my boxes: enemies to lovers, slow burn, and strong main characters that pull you into their story. The world building is detailed that you can feel the gloomy weather or the humid swamp or the oppressiveness of the romul city. But it’s their stories of their lives and their trauma and then the path of healing and redemption that unfolds that makes you feel and turn the page into the late hours of the night to see how it ends. It’s a fantasy romance but so much more. It will run your emotions thru the wringer especially as you go thru the dark parts but it is so worth it. I could not put this book down and can’t wait to see what’s next.
This slow burn was so worth it. I absolutely loved Rel and Devdan. They were worth the turmoil and heart ache to get to their happy ending. This book was packed with adventure and heart breaking revelations. Rel is a badass and the fight in her is admirable.
After facing so much trauma and pain in her life, Rel has finally found a place she feels safe. She thrives in her swamp, until one day witch hunters show up and the Wolf of Romul drags her back to her own personal hell. While captured, Rel feels herself softening to Devdan, an unexplainable pull pushing them together.
This book was everything you want in a slow burn, enemies to lovers fantasy novel. There’s tension, adventure and a new world that sucks you in.
Potentially spoiler ahead. So after reading the first book in the series. I decided I needed to read the standalone. And I was not disappointed, similar vibes and it was so good. Again a slow burn with enemies to lovers vibes. I’m beginning to love the idea of a mate hunting down their mate without knowing. Also we get wolfshifters! Exciting. Loving! Thrilling! I was on edge trying to devour this book too. I love a good Crocodile friend. This ending had me in a chokehold too. And I’m hoping for another tie in with this somewhere. Please. I loved this book too and would again recommend it over and over. However, I can’t decide if I liked it better after reading or if I would have enjoyed it more before. There’s really no right or wrong here you can chose your adventure choice!
enemies to lovers is always my weak spot add in the perfect amount of angst and the one bed only scenario and BOOM perfection
this is my second read from tk tucker, and honestly, i loved this. it keeps that perfect mystical style vibe and the plot mixed with the slow burn made this a page turner i did not want to put down!
i could close my eyes and see this world around me tks writing style always leaves me breathless in the best way
this story checked all the boxes, and honestly, after reading The Coven of Ruin ... this book might be a standalone but it still pulled me in just as hard
