for anyone who says slave history doesn't impact sexual history, this book is 200 pages of evidence to the contrary. i really enjoyed how wyatt incorporated slave history with mediated sexual stereotypes and sexual behavior. it was refreshing to see the stereotypes debunked, but harrowing to read about black women's bad decision-making when it comes to sex and how little sexual knowledge we pass on to our daughters. i had no idea how involved child sex play could be, but the stories were fascinating. my attention waned in the 2nd section but the personal inventory in the third section made it worth while.

Excellent read for Black women wanting to understand more about the history of the stereotypes that surround our sexuality and how we can move forward. It is engaging and easy to read with lots of harrowing but relatable stories. Will be buying copies for my Sisters.
