Well, it was certainly upsetting to discover this was a prequel to another novel, and one I am not going to read, especially going by the synopsis of it. I didn't quite connect with the writing or characters, and a lot of things felt way too exaggerated for me.
I am not sure how I felt about this book. I liked it and I absolutely loved the story. I think that it tells the story of how parents can think they know best but in reality sometimes a young person knows what they should do and parents should just step back and allow their children to grow and learn themselves. I think that seeing how she handles the interracial relationship was pathetic. This book had a strange ending also that really really bothered me that the book would end that way!
