I had mixed feelings the entire time I was reading this book. I was wondering until the very end (literally the second to last page) if the author was even a Christian or not because until then there was no mention of “Jesus” or “Christ” and only “God” or other nondescript references to God. I kept thinking that perhaps she was trying to appeal to non-Christians, to not offend them, but in the process she offended me. There was also very few scriptures mentioned, not enough to call the teaching biblical.

At the same time I kept thinking and feeling that the actual information the book contained was very true, totally right on the mark and very helpful. The rules for dream interpretation seemed totally sound to me.

Other positives for this book was that the tone of it was entirely encouraging and positive. There were plenty of examples and everything was thoroughly explained and easy to understand.

Since the author actually IS a Christian I can heartily recommend this book. You just have to keep in mind that perhaps she is trying to appeal to a non-Christian market or for whatever reason is sparse in her real Christian references. If you can overlook that, the information is excellent and sound.

It was interesting seeing a dream interpeter's perspective on dreams. She believes that dreams are meant to help people live their lives to the full and provides some tools and examples of dream interpretation. However there were a number things I didn't enjoy in the book. The author didn't even acknowledge any scientific data on dreams. I know just from psychology 101 that dreams occur during REM sleep and are an important part of memory consolidation. She also uses examples of dreams that support her own religious views and the second half of the book is practically a religious commentary. For example she claims that all dreams come from truth (God), the lie (the devil), or the self. She also mentioned that a different dream interpreter was not interpreting someone's dream correctly. I think that dreams are very subjective and I am wary of anyone who claims to be able to interpret any dreams the "right" way. The parts about dream interpretation were interesting but overall the author lacked scientific information on dreams and had a clear religious bias.

Primer on rightly interpreting messages in your sleep

I first learned about Cindy McGill from her book, Words That Work, which was recommended by a friend. She has gained access to many unlikely people through her ministry of Dream interpretation and even produced an award-winning documentary film on the subject.

This book talks about how dreams have inspired songs, fiction, research, inventions and other advancements for people who cared enough to pay attention. It highlights biblical and historical examples of world-changing dreams.

Readers will learn how to discern the source of their dreams, what type of dream they’ve had, how to interpret the symbolism in their dreams and how to apply them. There’s a dictionary of common symbols in the back of the book and even a template to use in journaling your dreams. It’s a fairly easy read and definitely worth your time if you’re interested in unlocking the mysteries revealed to you while you sleep!

I remember our pastor talking about dreams once, and he said some dreams are just "pizza dreams," meaning you are simply rehashing the day. However, other dreams can be important tools to help you figure out your life or even a message from God. Pay particular attention to recurring dreams or messages. This book will get you started on the path to remembering and recording your dreams, and deciphering what they might mean. I got lost on some of the interpretations, but overall, a good read.

In What Your Dreams Are Telling You, Cindy McGill is sharing with readers on how to learn how to interpret your dreams and discover the hidden meaning behind them. She revealed that she believed that dreams are personal and they assist us in being hopeful about our future. She also goes into prodigious detail about our dreams and their meanings. For instance, she covered flying or swimming underwater, falling, being chased, naked in public, vehicles, taking a test/ going back to school, and so many more common dreams. She even gives crucial questions to ask and suggested action to take in comprehending the dreams. Cindy also went into dreams that famous people experienced like Kristen Bell, Samuel L. Jackson, and more and she explained their meaning.

I would recommend this excellent book to every believer who is experiencing dreams that are complicated and they are pondering and troubled by their meaning. I immensely benefited from the dream symbol appendix because this one included dreams symbols about ants, airplanes, pregnant, school, driving your car, etc. This book brought to life the how to interpret dreams and how to discover their true significance. While I was reading this book, I actually had a dream that ants were crawling all over me and I was extremely stressed at the time and I had a lot of school work to finish. The ant means “hard worker”. I especially love how she included a section in the book where readers could write down what the dream was about and she asked helpful questions in order to figure out the overall message. This book is meant to be reread when readers are looking for guidance on their dreams interpretations and it will greatly impact your life. If you’re seeking a book on discovering your dreams meaning, then please read this one!

I have always been one to believe in the power of dreams. I have had dreams that have come true, dreams that I knew held significance in my life. I have had dreams that I didn’t realize until later that perhaps they had more meaning than I’d ever guessed. So, when I learned about this book, I knew I had to read it.

This book has valuable insight into dreams as a way of communication. We can work on things ourselves – our subconscious working through something. Or we can be the recipient of something meant to intimidate us. Or we can be on the receiving end of Divine communication. The trick is recognizing where dreams are coming from. After that, determining the meaning is a little less complicated – the likelihood of more accurate interpretations is much higher.

There is a listing of common themes and their common meanings, but it’s made clear that dreams are very personal. What one dream means in my life could be completely opposite to what it means to someone else. And, yeah, that sounds about right. Everyone is so different, even if you don’t believe in God or His using dreams to communicate, it’s easy to see how there’s no one-size-fits-all way to interpret dreams.

This book has very interesting stories, and suggestions for helping people learn to decode their own dreams. In addition to the glossary of common dream elements, there’s a few pages for journaling your dreams. Not only can you write your dream out, but you can use it to think through the dream and discover its meaning.

If you’re like me and you’ve had dreams that clearly were more than just entertainment while you sleep, then I recommend you give this book a read. You’ll find it interesting, enlightening, and encouraging.

I was pretty skeptical when I agreed to review this book, but I became fascinated as I read. I knew there were dreams in the Bible that warned or foretold of things, but I hadn't realized there were famous inventors, scientists, authors, etc. who dreamt of solutions, stories, even scientific breakthroughs! The author points out that not all dreams mean something and to be cautious of being too quick to assign a certain meaning. The chapters on principles to use when interpreting a dream, common dream themes, and types of dreams were especially fascinating. I'm also glad she pointed out that not all dreams are from God. They can also be from what she calls Self and Lie and it's important to figure out which source it's from. While she talks about God and her faith, the book felt like it was written for anyone, Christian or not. Much of what she said made sense and I know I'm going to be paying a lot more attention to my dreams from now on!

I received this book free from Chosen Books in exchange for an honest review.

This book reaffirms that God does speak to us through our dreams. It also gave me valuable insight into the interpretation process, which lead me to new and exciting interpretations of past dreams. "What Your Dreams Are Telling You" says it best though: "What God extends to you in dreams is truth-truth about yourself, truth about your world, truth about God Himself. You will experience freedom to the degree that you align yourself with the truth." A wonderful book to help you learn more about your dreams

I received this book free from Goodreads. The book is to teach us how to interpret the dreams we have, and to teach us to find solutions in the dreams we have. This was a very interesting and informative book. I did write down my last dreams, and they did have a sense. It permits me to pay attention to them and give a message. A very good read, and it get me very interested on the subject. I did find it lacking references books on dream interpretation.

Not only is this book interesting in the theory it presents, but it is extremely useful as a handbook to dream interpretation. I've kept it close since I began reading it and imagine it will continue to be a great reference.
