Keeley and Mary are best friends from Dublin who go to France to pick grapes before settling down. When Mary falls pregnant she is forced to return to Dublin. Meanwhile, Keeley marries a delightful French hairdresser. However, disaster is about to strike.
After really enjoying another of Liz's novels (The Year of Her Life), I was excited to come across this book in a second hand bookshop and couldn't wait to read it. Unfortunately I was disappointed pretty early on by this one. I found both characters quite annoying for the choices they made and it was just too long and detailed (taking way too long to get to the rather depressing conclusion).
