This is a prequel to Cameleons. After twenty-two years of nearly virtuous existence, Katlyn Sanders shocked herself and the entire community of Kingston by moving in with Jared King. The decision had been momentous for someone who'd never challenged the rules of small-town conservatism. As a child, she'd been taught to color within the lines. She'd even gone so far as to trace the lines so that she didn't risk making a mistake. All that changed when she met and fell in love with the town's wealthiest bad boy. The real fireworks began when she left him and moved home again. Jared was determined to have her back on his terms. She had her own terms. Neither of them thought a compromise was possible, but they soon learned there were some things more important than independence and pride.

I feel bad giving this a 2, but have vowed to be more consistent and honest with my ratings. Truth is, it was just OK for me.
There was nothing wrong with it. It was sweet. I just felt it lacked drama and tension. If you want a sweet, low drama read for a rainy day, this would fit the bill. Both characters were likeable and the h wasn't a doormat.
The list of questions she asked him at the end was definitely lifted from Cosmo or some other women's magazine. lol
Katlyn Sanders had moved in with Jared King but when she realized the relationship was never going to go any further she leaves. She loves Jared but he thinks she is after his money. I like Becky Barker's style of writing. It's easy and entertaining and works for me.
On the plus side, it was a sweet story and I liked that there were her and his points of view, but the unplanned baby and an abrupt end made a decent read worse.
Jared King isn't the marrying kind... and the rugged rancher has a love 'em and leave 'em reputation. Except where Katlyn is concerned. The gorgeous brunette just might be the only woman for him -- even though he refuses to be lassoed into marrying her. When she asks for a ring -- and a commitment -- he digs in his heels. And then he finds out just how badly losing her hurts!
Leaving Jared was the most difficult decision of Katlyn's life. And she's just found out that she's going to have his baby. It's time to fight for their future -- and time to teach him a thing or two. About real passion. And real love. The kind that lasts a lifetime....
