I guess we are going to forget and move one to never investigate what really happened to her father, who we just got clues that it wasn't a suicide? So far, this seems to be the last book of the series, and the author forgot 100% what was the original plot of the series 😂.

Detective Kaitlyn gets to work another case where it involves an actress who seems to be part of a cult. But she keeps struggling with commitment and the quick decision to get married, still has bad relationship with her mom and sister, Luke keeps thinking on leaving the FBI, but he keeps going to work.

It doesn't matter what the author does, the series never got better. The horrible editing keeps showing and she keeps confusing characters and timelines.

I can quickly get transported into Detective Kaitlyn Carr's cases that are dangerous, enthralling, unpredictable and always involve a murder or two ( I Love it when there's more than one murder case) She's one fiery Detective and I find this series so addictive.

Really good book. It grabs you from the very first chapter. If you like cult stories than you must read this book. I love this series with Kaitlin and Luke. I like her new partner. I look forward to more stories with the two of them on new cases.

The last 2 chapters of this book ruined it for me. Not to mention book 7 mentions that book 8 will solve the mystery of Kaitlyn Carr’s late father; not a single mention of that within the book.
The book ended abruptly, the author really missed out adding an extra few chapters.
One point it mentions her FaceTiming her fiancé and he describes a documentary he is watching; fast forward 2 weeks it says “the documentary you watched last year.” I think the author forgets what she is writing half the time. Last 3 books in this series have missed the mark.
Wouldn’t read it again. Just want to know what happens with her dads case.

And… the plot thickens!! Get ready to be engaged in this page-turning psychological mystery like no other. It’s intense! It’s an emotional turmoil! It’s full of heartache! WHISPERS IN THE SAND is the twist worthy conclusion in the 8th and final book in the Detective Kaitlyn Carr Mystery series. This entire book had me captivated from the first page and no amount of guessing could have prepared me for what transpired.

When Aidan Palmer, a young lifeguard at Dockweiler Beach, discovers a body on the beach, he calls the authorities. Detective Kaitlyn Carr was called to the scene by her boss because of the circumstances of the murder. The victim, Emilia Cruz (aka Sarah Matthews), a young actress who played on the Netflix show called Quantum Frontier, is someone that Kaitlyn recognized because she watched her show. Emilia was last seen at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards before going missing, then murdered. Kaitlyn is determined to solve this case and find the person who committed the gruesome murder of the young actress. Because this is a big case, Kaitlyn’s boss partner her with another LA Detective—Tracie Freeman. In their quest to find answers, it was discovered there was more to Emilia’s life than acting—she was secretively involved with a cult. Could the cult leader have killed Emilia or someone else? What is the killer’s true motive? And most importantly, who will be next? Who could have killed this young actress—so many questions and few answers? Will Detective Carr be able to figure everything out in time—especially with a pending wedding to Luke Galvinson, fiancé and FBI agent?

An LA detective in the dark. A killer on the loose. Both have their obsessions in a nerve-twisting psychological mystery. This gripping psychological mystery weaves the relationship between the characters like a moth fluttering to a flame. The plot is intense and will leave you perplexed and curious as to the identity of the murderer. This book will keep your heart pounding and interest avid as you read to find out who the killer is. Kate Gable creates a world, plot, and characters that linger long after the last sentence of the last page. I HIGHLY recommend you get this book! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This is book eight in A Detective Kaitlyn Carr Mystery and omg it is definitely a must read. When Aidan who is a lifeguard sees something in the distance by the edge of the water he goes to investigate only to be in shock when he finds a woman body and calls the emergency services and that is when Kaitlyn arrives and recognised that the woman who is dead is the actress Emilia Cruz who was only in her twenties but who did this and why and Kaitlyn is determined to try and solve this case and get justice for Emilia Cruz and put who ever did this away for a long time. Kaitlyn and Luke have so much to do before they get married but with Luke being away on a course and Kaitlyn trying to solve the case things are starting to pile up and the pressure is on and with Kaitlyn having a new partner that is assigned to help her they work together well and suddenly get a lead on who could be involved along with even more clues but will it lead them to who is responsible and why. Will this murder be wrapped up in time for Kaitlyn and Luke’s wedding so that they can eventually relax if that is at all possible with the careers that they both have. Wow there are twists and turns that will have you on the edge of your seat and turning the pages to see what will happen next and there are danger, murder, suspense, action and situations that make this book so addictive and unable to put down. This storyline pulled you in right from the start and kept your attention throughout the whole book and I can’t wait to read more books by this author in the future.

I look forward to each and every book by Kate Gable. Her books start with a bang and keep you enthralled to the last page.

I'll admit, I find it hard to like the main character, Detective Kaitlyn Carr, but the writing is so wonderful that I love the books. I find, if it isn't work related, Kaitlyn is extremely self-centered, almost to the point of being a narcissist. She is engaged to a wonderful FBI detective, Luke, but she constantly puts him on the back burner....even when it isn't necessary. She'd rather work than be with him, but claims that she loves him. SMH. Fortunately, he "gets" her and loves her so much that he tolerates her behavior. I admit, I want to see if the marriage ever happens, and how long it lasts.

As to the story, an up and coming actess, Emilia Cruz, is found dead on the beach....in the gown she wore to an awards ceremony the night before. Why is she dead? Why was she found with such a bizarre death injury? Before Kaitlyn can barely start asking these questions, she is informed that she will not be working this case alone....she now has a partner, Detective Tracie Freeman. Given Kaitlyn's personality, you can just imagine how that went over....as in not well.

Between the characters, their personalities, the story, the murder, and the fabulous writing by this author, you will find it difficult to put the book down until you reach that very last page.

If I had to use one word to describe this 8th book in the Detective Kaitlyn Carr Mystery series it would be WOW! This amazing, Page turning, psychological thriller has you on the edge of your seat from the first page to the surprising last. With Kaitlyn having her upcoming wedding to FBI agent, Luke Galvinson she has been called to the scene of a grisly murder by her boss because of the horrible circumstances of the murder. The victim is Emilia Cruz, who is a young actress who played on the Netflix show called Quantum Frontier. Kaitlyn recognized her since she liked to watch the show. No one had seen Emilia since the Screen Actors Guild Awards until she was found murdered. To help with finding a murderer in this high profile case, she was assigned a partner, Detective, Tracie Freeman. When they began to dig into Emilia's life, they find she had joined a secret cult. Could this have something to do with her murder? Wading through possible suspects will Kaitlyn find the murderer before there are more murders? Who's next? We are taken through so many red-herrings, twists and turns to a surprise at the end. I highly recommend this book as well as the whole series! I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

WHISPERS N THE SAND is the eighth instalment in Kate Gable’s contemporary, adult DETECTIVE KAITLYN CARR murder/mystery suspense series focusing on LAPD Detective Kaitlyn Carr.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Kaitlyn and Emilia) WHISPERS IN THE SAND follow in the wake of the discovery of a young woman’s body, washed up on the shores of a local beach. With her new partner, Detective Tracie Freeman, Kaitlyn goes in search for clues, including the last know associates of a rising star, a wellness guru who pushes his followers to the brink of starvation. Meanwhile, Kaitlyn and her fiancé, FBI Agent Luke Galvinson make preparations for their upcoming nuptials, an event in which Kaitlyn struggles to get remotely motivated.

WHISPERS IN THE SAND is the story of power and control, indoctrination and madness, betrayal and murder. The premise is fascinating and inviting; the characters are charismatic, desperate and lost-the psychological ramifications of brainwashing and manipulation is evident in the restrictive nature of those desperate enough to believe.

This series is entertaining enough but there are so many issues with it. From really horrible editing (Kaitlyn was ‘Kaitlin’ for a few chapters in book 5, sentences are started and never finished, words are added into sentences that make no sense) to multiple plot inconsistencies, I found myself frustrated and pulled out of the story often.

In this book specifically, a very important detail about the murder victim is revealed almost immediately after she is found, but then Kaitlyn is absolutely SHOCKED to find out this same fact 70% of the book later.

We have spent 7 books hearing about Kaitlyn’s father’s maybe-suicide-maybe-murder, and there is not one mention in the 8th (and currently final) book of the series. It’s almost like Gable forgot what she was writing about and made a brand new plot line for the final book.

Would I read another book if the series continued? Yes, I would. But I also hate read a 30 book series by another mystery writer, so my spite knows no bounds.

Whispers In The Sand is the next Kaitlyn Carr detective story which finds her investigating the gruesome murder of a young actress named Emilia who was staring in a science fiction series. Additionally, Kaitlyn is assigned a new partner, Tracie, to help with this high profile case. Kaitlyn and Tracie also become involved in the death of a young wife and mother, Nicole, who had been a member of The Order of the Enlightened which is the same organization Emilia had joined. This well written book was impossible to put down with its amazing characters, suspense, multiple suspects, danger, plot twists, and wedding planning. I highly recommend this excellent book.

This book was done in a way that enabled the reader to learn about the victim as well as Kaitlyn. This case was a very disturbing one for Kaitlyn. Anytime a group begins manipulating people, that should be a red flag. This group used the guise of ‘health and wellness’ to draw in members. The leaders of the groups are the worst kind of person. The leader has this uncanny ability to find women who are vulnerable and looking for help. Once they feel some trust toward the idea of ‘wellness’ then the leader rushes in to begin the real reason for his group. This book was eye opening and I was glad Kaitlyn was the detective on the case.

Once again, Kate Gable, have you hooked from the start till the end, I love the Kaitlyn Carr books there is a lot of action and she won't give up until she gets a result.

As her wedding approaches, Kaitlyn gets caught up in a murder of an upcoming actress, all evidence points to the ex-boyfriend but Kaitlyn and her partner Tracie know there is more to it than that and investigate the cult that she was part of, meanwhile, another death is reported, Nicole who was also part of the same cult, but how can they tie them together.

these books have you guessing and trying to figure it out before Kaitlyn does absolutely brilliant series.

Aidan Palmer finds the dead body of Emilia Cruz at Dockweiler Beach. He was a life guard on his shift when he found her. She was the lead actress of Quantum Frontier. Emilia had joined a cult that was controlling her. It’s a chilling read which has detective Kaitlyn Carr and detective Tracie following leads to find the truth. There is another murder of Nicole who had also joined this cult. This is a fast-pace , full of suspense read which has you on the edge of your seat. I am on the ARC team and leave a honest review. I recommend this book to other readers.

This is the "darkest" of the series, IMO. The investigation of this murder takes many--sometimes too many--turns. There is some mention of drug use, and the writing about that subject seems a little preachy. There's a new character introduced...hope that character becomes a regular because that relationship adds much to the story. Was NOT expecting the cliffhanger...was hoping for the HEA. Hope that is in the NEXT book! 4 1/2 stars for tackling some weird subjects and for once again tying the books together.

Whispers in the Sand: A gripping psychological mystery Thriller (A Detective Kaitlyn Carr Mystery Bo

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! This book was amazing. It was kind of about Hollywood and the strange cults that are there. It is very sad that young people can make mistakes and get swept up with people who just want to hurt them. Kaitlyn started off with no suspects and then had to many. I am glad that Kaitlyn got a partner that can help her find the bad guys. Terrie seems to be a perfect match for her.

7 & 1/2 episode mini series + 1

Excellent characterisation and plot with numerous twists and turns. In essence there are 2 cases in 1 - 7 and the novella (which is. a prequel in which you met the characters and should be read first) with the case break between 5 and 6 the whole is tied together by Kaitlyn's family story and growing romance, the latter continuing in 8. While something to read over a long period it holds interest and the reader will want to know what happens next. An excellent summer read or good for a long winter storm. Enjoy😃

Kaitlyn struggles to plan for her wedding while still doing her job as a detective! When a young movie star is found on the beach dead with her liver removed, Kaitlyn is determined to find the killer! When another woman connected to the same group is found under suspicious circumstances, the push is on to make sure no one else suffers the same fate!

A dead mutilated body is found on shore by a lifeguard. Detective Kaitlyn Carr is assigned the case. She is also assigned a partner, who actually turns out to be a good fit. Another body is found that is also related to the Order. A group that professes self-improvement, suspected to be much more. A novel that captures your interest from the beginning. It does not disappoint.

Read through the past 7 novels and this being the 8th of this series. I can say that the criminal minds behind all the crimes she has followed had grown to become more and more complex than the first book. I have yet to read the free novella which I look forward to and hope that her father's mystery finally gets solved.

Lots of turns

As I read this book I knew the people responsible for the murders though I didn't know how Det Carr was going to be able to pin the crimes to them. It was an exciting read and I would recommend it to anyone that loves a thriller with mystery involved.
