The Devil’s Masquerade “The Remedy”

The New Devil in Charge

It seemed like I waited forever for this book to end up in my hot little hands. I won an ARC for being one of the biggest fans of the series. The dreaded anticipation of the series conclusion was unbearable. Jennifer Loren did a fabulous job with the wrap up.

I have to admit where The Devil’s Masquerade “The Poison” ended and “The Remedy” picked up had my blood pressure rising. I really was questioning whether Nick could be saved. All his previous conditioning to thwart off Savage’s control proved beneficial in the end.

Her conclusion was such a roller coaster of emotions it left you breathless. Everything building up to the main event “The Masquerade” with Nick taking a wife. That’s all I’m saying here.

I loved the way Jennifer told this story from all the main characters POV. At first it threw me but then I realized what she was doing. You got an up close and personal look at the inner turmoil each and every one of them was battling. At one point honestly I wanted to cry when the plan was to kill Nick.

Kayla with her undying love and devotion was not having any of this. From the training she went through with Kamini to try and save Nick to the heart to heart she had with her great grandfather Koari. Kayla was feared by Savage and was a force to be reckoned with. She had a power of her own. In her desperation Kayla couldn’t convince her friends to allow her to attend the ball and put Gideon on Kayla duty. With a surprising twist she does find and ally in her quest to save Nick. I was shocked at who it was.

The surprising twist was little Nicky. His love for his Dad and his idle and the love for his mother and brother pushed this little guy to take actions in his own hands with the help of his dog eey. If you hadn’t figured it out yet eey’s identity is revealed in this book. Loved it. Little Nicky is his father’s son plus some, and the one scene just blew me away. I can’t say anything about the scene because it is too large of a shocker. READ THE BOOK.

I was glad Ria got her due by Kayla’s hand. That was one of the most satisfying scenes but not the only one in this story. One of my favorite lines was “you’re the evil King, I am the Prince, You’re the Princess that needs rescuing.” HE REMEMBERS. READ THE BOOK. Better Yet if you’ve not been following the Series then start with Book #l The Devil’s Eyes and hold on for the ride of your life.

5 Brilliant, I-Want-More Stars!!

'Why do I believe her to be mine and I hers when she is supposed to be my enemy?'

So it took me a while to get round to this one and wait wait before you all attack me ..It's only because I really, really didn't want this series to finish! But then Jennifer Loren gave me some amazing news when she revealed that there would be more! Yes baby! I was over the moon and thought well now I can read it. This is book 5 in the Devil's Eyes series by Jennifer Loren and what a book is was. JL you never disappoint!

"This fallen angel may be stained, but don't be fooled.I am not broken.I will be the remedy to your poison, Asmodeus."

This book continues from where the last last book finished. You find out that somehow Kayla carries the key to getting Nick back from his grandfathers clutches.Nick has been poisoned and he doesn't remember Kayla or any of his family anymore. He is ready to kill anyone who goes against Dennis not knowing that his grandfather is making him hurt his own family and friends.

One thing I love about this series is that it has it all, entertainment, drama, suspense, action, thrills, humour and so much more. I love each and every character (the good ones obviously).Dennis Savage the things I wanted to do to you..no for all the perverts reading this and thinking its all sexual.NO. I wanted to kill this man in so many different ways.He had my blood boiling, why Dennis are you such a pig?

"I know you can't take your eyes off me.I get it but I have some things I need to take care of.You can undress me with your eyes when I get back later.."- Elijah

We got to see a lot more of Elijah awww I already liked him in from the glimpses we got in the previous books but this one made me love him more.I just wanted to squeeze him! I'm happy he finally found someone and now its Ryan's turn. I'm hoping Ryan finds his happily ever after in the books to come because he truly deserves it. There were a lot of funny parts as well as the serious bits and how everything was going to work out, how to get Nick back and protect the family.

"Oh, be nice, tall unpleasant one.I will look at your breasts next if you want?" I say rubbing his chest.- Elijah

I felt like this book was too short because I just can't get enough of these books and series. One minute I started it and next minute finished..What is this sorcery!! LOL I finished this in one go and stayed up late because I could not put it down. And now I want more soo..hurry with the spin-off woman ;)

The Devil's Eyes series is one of the nest series I have ever read--each book can stand alone as an outstanding example of this writer's unique talent. Jennifer Loren doesn't just tell a story, she makes the reader feel they are a part of the story. Every page keeps you on the edge of your seat, you can't put it down. I stayed up all night reading this last book in the series until I finished it--then I grieved because it was the last book. I am hoping she will write some spin offs because so many of her characters have so much personality and likeability that they would make a wonderful series of their own. I am so glad I was able to read these books. I have already re-read the first 3 and will keep these tore-read over and over. I have them in paperback and on all 3 of my kindles so I am never without a copy I can read when I have some free time. Thank you Jennifer Loren for writing these masterpieces of crime, romance, family and friendship loyalties and suspense that capture the mind, the imagination and the heart of the reader.

This is one of those series that came out of nowhere and I totally fell in love with. Nick and Kayla's story is now complete. I will miss the banter, both main characters which were totally badass, the LOL humor and of course the off-the-charts sex. Every element in this series just click together perfectly.

Truth be told I had misgivings about the new direction (paranormal) the series was veering off to at the end of book 3. I wasn't that invested in book 4 given that it largely read like a genealogy. But this concluding book brings us back to what matters the most: Kayla and Nick's beautiful love story. They are undoubtedly soul-mates that no work of the devil can break up that connection - no brainwashing, no poison.

There is a certain line in the book regarding a prince that brings us back to full circle to book 1. This was clearly Jennifer Loren's vision right from the start and this 5th book is its completion. I. LOVE. LOVE. THIS SERIES. I can't wait for the spin-offs!

5+ stars! There may be spoilers so please read with caution!!! I am so sad this series is over and I better find Jennifer writing those spin-offs! This was such an emotional and gripping ending to one of my all time favorite series that I just want to weep with joy and sadness!

Kayla proves her strength and love to her family over and over that I swear I'm totally over my girl crush and in love with her badness and strength!

Nick had me very worried for a very long time and that is all I shall say on that matter!

Nicky, very much his father's son had me gasping at his devotion to his family and his mother's stubbornness shows through as he takes matters into his small hands to help when needed!

Ria! Bitch you got yours, you stupid twatwaffle!

Elijah, oh how I love you, let me count the ways....4877626737747 ways to be exact! His sense of humor and loyalty never wavered along with Ryan!

Well what can I say Ms. Loren has done it again. I usually don't like the ending to a series, because it is over. With that being said this ending was beautifully done. We needed questions answered that were still to be determined and we got them. What a well played out ending. We have went through a long journey with Nick and Kayla and I personally think Ms. Loren did a wonderful job bringing them full circle. We have had a crazy ride through this series and are very passionate about the two heroines. Will I miss Nick and Kayla? Sure will! That's why I am glad she left the book open in the end. We could see all kinds of play from other characters in the books such as Ryan, Eli and Nicky JR all grown up. I think that perhaps the Nick and Kayla dynasty that she created could continue. It is great when an author is so passionate about her characters she never shuts them off completely. Hence why she left it open, because anything is possible. If you made it this far in the series you need to get this book. It will leave you very satisfied. Congratulations on a successful series Jennifer Loren you are one heck of a writer.

5++ EXPLOSIVE STARS!

An epic ending for such epic series!!!!!

Finally, my favourite kick-ass heroine is back!!!!

And she is taking back her man!!!! Every time, I felt my heart fainting…

And she has tons of tricks up on her sleeve! Aaaah, I love it!!!!

The action and suspense…. explosive!!!!

Just…..

I am going to miss Elijah, who is so funny and charming, and I’m happy he has finally met his match with Catriona! Ryan, I have high hopes for him. Little Nicky, I can only imagine how powerful he will be. Brayden I bet will surprise everyone. And Nick and Kayla, well, they are just perfect, they complete each other.

I know this series turned into PNR, but it only makes for more intriguing read.

It has been such wonderful journey!!!! Ms. Loren proves to be such an amazing writer to write 5 books that is as equally as powerful as the next! I love how she wrote the personal relationship with each and every lead characters of this series that created a dynamic bond of family and friendship…. all of whom I’ve grown to love and will definitely miss. Sigh....

The epilogue is titled “The End and the Beginning”… and showed a lot of promise, like Amery, I wanna know more of him… and what of Ryan? Could there be spinoff? Oh please say yes!!!!

The Devil's Masquerade: The Remedy (The Devil's Eyes, #5) by Jennifer Loren
NO SPOILERS ZONE
I just loved this series for many reasons and because I enjoy going into books blind I never knew what to expect when I started.Well what a journey it’s been This author was brilliant to sneak in the paranormal slowly, cautiously with each book. I am not a paranormal book reader but it worked so well here that it winds up being what I loved most about it. Don’t even get me started on how much I love each & every character in this book. The hot as sin Nicholas Jayzon was not the only man you fall for. There’s Ryan and Eli and shockingly Dante/ Eey is the one I fell HARD for. Who would of THUNK it! Not me that’s for sure. Kayla and ALL the women in this series are bad ass and a prime example is the letter she sent to Dennis (if you have read this book then you know what I’m talking about!) It was pretty fucking awesome in my opinion. Sadly it’s over and I will truly miss these characters FOR NOW, because from what I understand there will be a spinoff of this series. I hope this is true because wild horses couldn’t keep me away. I gave every book in this series a 4.5-5 star rating with the exception of The Devil's Masquerade: The Poison (The Devil's Eyes-book 4) which I gave an EASY 5 stars because it was my favorite of this series. I gave this last book a 4 star rating because quite honestly I wanted/expected more from the epilogue. I understand that it was probably left open ended to allow for the spinoff, I get it. I guess I’m just greedy. Thank you Jennifer Loren for gingerly opening me up to the paranormal world and for giving me so many hours of enjoyment through these fantastic characters that had me laughing my ass off at times, holding my breath at other times & swooning as well. I really don’t know how you did it but somehow, someway you had me fall in love with a dog! LOL

The conclusion to an incredible story and extremely well written. I'm in awe of the way Jennifer Loren tells a story, The Remedy will have you on your toes, it will have you cheering, it will have you cursing and it will hold you captive until the very end. So frigging good!

The book is written in each main characters POV and it gives you insight to each of them. Kayla fights for her husband and her family - never giving up, never thinking she will fail, and letting her love for her husband win no matter what. In Kayla you see the dedication, honor, unconditional love shine thru and take her to battle. You will also learn alot more about Kayla's family history. Once you learn that you'll understand why Little Nicky is the best of both his parents. Speaking of Little Nicky ... that boy loves his father, misses his father, protects his father and when I say that his love makes him step up ... you better believe its the truth. You will learn that Little Nicky is very powerful, to the point that he can fight Savage and win. His strength is not all that this boy has but he is also a healer which you probably guessed from the previous book. Nicky is there for his father in a very big way. Eew continues to help his family and protect them and he and Nicky will be a big part of this towards the end of the book. Nick ... oh my Nick ... he continues to be stuck in the world his grandfather subjected him to. with the help of Kayla and Nicky, Nick will start to show feelings. This scares Savage and Savage is more determined to rid of Kayla. He has several attempts but Kayla prevails. Nick can't get Kayla out his mind, he has nightmares (which is him recalling his past) and just cant shake her. Kayla and Nicky are the most important players in helping Nick to find his memory of his family.

It all comes down to the Masquerade, where you will see who survives, who dies, who wins, who loses. You'll see the bonds of friendship, old and new, you see old hurts put to rest. You will cheer and you will cry but you will love this amazing ending.

The Devil's Eyes series by Jennifer Loren comes to an end with this 5th book in the series. Through a whirlwind of emotions, war, love, birth, and loss, the story concludes at the masquerade ball.

Nick no longer remembers his wife, brother, sister, and children. His best friend is a complete stranger, and he cannot understand why all of these people insist he is someone he knows he is not. The poison his grandfather - Dennis Savage - has infected him with has dug in deep.

Savage knows Kayla must die. She is his weakness, and he fears her. What he doesn't realize, is Nick is starting to remember! He is drawn to Kayla, and does not understand 'why'. He finds ways to get to her; he needs to see her to understand this power she has over him. No one but her has ever resisted him, and he must conquer this woman who has bewitched him.

Kayla, staying true to herself, refuses to listen to the others and stand aside to let them take care of things. This is one woman for whom you jump when she tells you to! Don't ask questions, just do it.

The final battle approaches. Some will live, some will perish, new allies come forward, and others change sides.

This entire series has been very difficult to put down! I very much hope we see some side stories for at least a couple of the characters, and maybe down the road a one-off or each of the kids! With the foundation in place, there is a great deal of potential for material.

I loved this series. It was my first shot at paranormal and I have to say it turned out to be one of my all time favorites. The storyline was intense so much going on. Loved the different POV's. The character development was great also and there were a lot of great characters. Kayla and Nick were meant to be together. They are true soul mates who would fight to the end. Loved their passion. I have to say my OMG moment is my realization of "the dog". Loved this, I cracked up. Jennifer did a wonderful job with this series. Would love to see another series with Ryan as the lead ;). Just saying.

OMG i loved this book it was so well written, I liked how at the beginning of each chapter it had the name of the character who's pov that chapter was about. at first I was worried that Nick would not get back with his family it was touch and go for a while, and then Nicky got caught and man scary thought he was going to be taken for sure to be used as incentive for Nick to obey. Wow just how it all ended in the final battle and Dante showed up and then at the end Ryan choose a different path. Man nice set up to go with a new series hope Jennifer Loren chooses to do that cause man oh man I love these characters.

I loved this Series! This was one of my favorite series ever! I loved how it circled back to the first book and connected something that at the time seemed like nothing and turned out to be the entire meaning of the story! Not to mention I loved Kayla being a real badass and Nick being drawn to her no matter what! Well Done Jennifer! Can't wait to read your next new series.

Jennifer Loren did it again! And this time....she knocked the wind out of my lungs with the fifth installment of the Devil´s Eyes series. The Masquerade: The Remedy was another fantastic read! A great completion to the series. I´m gonna go ahead and rate this book with 5 out of 5 champagne glasses and explain my thoughts later.

Let me start again with Nick Jayzon ( Oh shuush....let me swoon for a bit, okay?...thanks.) That man kicked ass....No, really. He kicked some serious ass in this book! I was shocked and surprised about what he became after his own grandfather ( Dennis Savage ) poisoned him. Nick may have been intimidating ( and sexy!! ) in the first books, but in this one..he was a killing machine ( a sexy as hell killing machine, mind you..) One who´s only purpose was to demolish everything and anyone who wanted to stop him. And still....my love for him never faded. * sigh*...
That guy was dangerous to the core!

And now to the story.

Nick´s wife, Kayla, and the rest of Nick´s family and friends, were dead set on saving Nick from becoming the worst nightmare EVER! Sadly....it was to late and that meant the people who were willing to save Nick, were now trying to kill him. All except for Kayla. She was the only one who wouldn´t give up. With a little help from a few new characters, she found the strength to fight against the ultimate evil! But will she succeed? Will Kayla be able to turn Nick back into the man she loved, the father of her children?

This book kept me up all night. I neglected my household and my hubby so I could FINALLY see in which direction Nick and Kalya were heading.I kept wishing that Nick wouldn´t kill his wife throughout the whole book! Page after page...I was bitching to my husband ( poor guy...Oh well * shoulder shrug * ) about how Nick should see Kayla for who she really was.. The Masquerade: The Remedy, was awful, devastating, gut wrenching, sad, desperate, and I felt ready to kill Savage myself! I hated that guy so much. Everytime his character popped up I felt this awful sting in my gut and wanted nothing more than for him to just drop dead. The way Savage treated Nick, his own daughter and even his minions was pathetic. Each and every character that was newly introduced in this book ( I´m not talking about the evil ones...) saved themselves a special place in my heart! Jennifer Loren really does know how to create loveable characters. Do I have a complaint? Yeah. I have two. First.....Ryan....why him?? That made me so sad to see that scene. Heartbreaking!!!! Totally sob worthy! And second: The series is over. Done with. I have a hard time accepting that, because the author created so many chances for this series to continue..:-)

MY personal wish came true when i reached the end of the book. I felt so much pride for Kayla and Nick. What they went through was beyond anything normal. But their bond just showed me that nothing can destroy true love. Not even the devil himself.

My opinion of the author:
I came upon Jennifer Loren´s books through a recommendation and it was the best I received so far. A big THANK YOU to Lisa Ashmore ( give me more, babe! ) The author made the complete series ( The Devil´s Eyes ) exciting and captivating....always making her audience hold their breath. Her writing style is simple and fun. Her stories flow fluently and never get bored. I have no doubt this author will hit it big really soon.

The Divas Book Blog are giving The Masquerade: The Remedy ( book # 5 The Devil´s Eyes series) 5 out of 5 champagne glasses.

Sighz ... this is so bittersweet for me. Yes there were casualties, but I believe we (yes, we ) came out of this story quite triumphant. I have come to love the progression of this series, but still as separate entities. I like Nick the criminal, as much as, Nick the Lord. As two separate stories, I love them both. As one continuing series, I am too confused to make a solid decision.

To be truthful, I want more. Just not from a Nick and Kayla focus point. I would love to get more stories on Nicky and Ryan. I feel like there are many stories left within this series, kind of like the 'Dark Hunter' series. Might take time, but I am willing to wait ;)

I love all the characters in this story and believe that they, along with the story was well written, given the time frame and insurmountable issues. It never felt rush and there was always a surprise around the corner. If this is the last, then I can attest to it being one of the best in this series so far. I don't know if it's the paranormal, or transition into paranormal, that gives this novel and series it's edge, but it surely has one.

The introduction of the new characters weren't bad either. I especially like Amery. I don't know what it is about him, but I have a soft spot from him. With how this story ended, I would be pleased to see a follow up novel with him, Ryan, Elijah, Cat and even Nicky, off doing their own thing. It's time Nick and Kayla's relationship get a break from the constant beating.

I can assure you that you never know what will happen in this novel, as the most unlikely alliances are formed and the forces are so much and so strong that you are guaranteed a ride! The fight scenes vary in intensity, interest and outcome. There is possibilities and tricks everywhere. You will be kept on your toes and waiting for the next move in this game of chess between the Jayzon's, Savages and almost all the other Lords.

The reconciliation of Kayla and Nick was also fun to watch. It was like 'The Devil's Eyes' all over again. We even got some of those feel good scenes. This time though, the tables were turned and Kayla had to fight for their love. You get so many stories, struggles and outcomes from this one story that no wonder I'm unsatisfied and wanting more!

It was also good to see most of the gang make it out alive and to hold new powers and responsibilities. Even Eddie is still alive, which is a shock within itself, as he started the story as a walking PC in a suit. To watch these characters grow, and see their paths by this end of this book, is lovely! I just wish a few others could have remained alive to share in the ending. I wasn't that close to the character of Sam, but I do love Ryan and hope that his story doesn't end here and like this.

There is laughter, love, envy, war and of course ... a masquerade ball :)

Ending or not, this story gets better with each installment, and this one is one of if not the best. You aren't left with questions, as much as, a crave for more. While this story is safe to finish here, it makes you want to roam with the other Lords, namely Nicky, Ryan and Amery. Though Elijah is also an interesting one.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and wouldn't mind another in the series :)

amazing book ughhh i just want this book series to be endless ohhhh myyyyyygoowwwwddd they are perfect for eachother of course that was going to happen at the end ohhhh i love this couple the thing about this book is that I like every single person in nick's crew they did so much for him the love and respect they had for him and i cant believe that happened in the end (not the epilogue) but the final fight and what you find out woww I mean yeahhhh i kind of thought that was going to happen by the way that nick and kayla act whenever they are together. I thought it was the most adorable thing ever ohhhh my gosh and the actual like last 3 pages of the book (still not the epilogue) made me sooo freaking happy for them, and the characters made me hecka laugh ohhhh nicky i love him, sooo much like his father nick. this is a must read and if you do choose to read this book you have to read them in chronological order just to get the full effect i thought the first one was good, now Im not sure which one is better because this one is really really good and it explains a lot. yet the book does make me sad at the end because well im done with this small series... and i still want to read more about nick and kayla *sigh* ohhh well.

When I found out Jennifer Loren was writing another book for The Devil's Eyes series I was so excited. I could not wait till it came out and I knew I was going to buy it and more than likely love it like I have the other ones and yep, I wasn't disappointed, another 5 stars! The characters just draw me in and they don't let go. I get so connected to them and I feel their emotions its just amazing. I absolutely love that the women in this series are strong women who can kick some ass! So many books make women out to need a man to be their hero but Jennifer Loren makes her leading ladies be more than women who can hold their own and they can save themselves and even save the men they love. Now at the beginning of the series it just seems like a regular romance with mobsters and action but as it goes along it turns more supernatural with Lords, Devils, Healers and different realms in the world and I was worried that I wouldn't like it but Jennifer really writes it well that its not cliche or stupid. I definitely recommend that everyone really gives this series and any other Jennifer Loren books a chance. I love her writing and I hope others do too!

The ending to this series so far was AWESOME!!! the way this book evolved from a regular contemporary romance into a supernatural Romance was very damn cleaver and kept me interested which is hand to do when a series is as long as this one. but when it comes to this series yes i do. Nick had some hard choices to make but my heroin in this book was KAYLA! she just took the bull by the balls and squish them sh*ts like there was no tomorrow! one thing i liked about Kayla is that she was so in love with Nick and never ever gave up on him. She though about it but she knew that she really could never really leave nick behind.

The ending was damn awesome! i liked it tons and i can't wait to read more of this book if the author decides to write more of them... i hope she does because i want more nick and Kayla!

It's over and I'm sad to see this series go. Though I didn't like the direction this series went (with the paranormal aspect) and found it not really fitting with the story, I still enjoyed them. This conclusion to Nick and Kayla's story was perfect and I'm glad to see some of the "feel" from the first two books back in this final installment. Nick and Kayla will always hold a special spot on my favorites shelf.

I would recommend this series, especially the first two books in this series, all very good. Ms. Loren is a wonderful author and I can't wait to see what she comes out with next.
