If you'd asked me what love was two years ago, I probably would've said, 'It's this amazing feeling that obsesses and possesses you; it's what me and my husband currently have.' If you ask me that same question today, I'll say, 'Please get the hell out of my face.’

Claire Gracen's life is picture perfect. Her career as a marketing director is on the brink of being legendary, and her marriage to her high school sweetheart has never been stronger. No, wait. It has. It used to be amazing and fulfilling, but one day Claire realizes that she's been living a lie and her best friend and husband have committed the ultimate betrayal.

Broken and depressed, Claire is in need of something new—new city, new job, new friends.

When she happens to attract the interest of the sexiest man she's ever met, a man significantly younger than her, she immediately turns him down—only to later discover that this man is Jonathan Statham, self-made billionaire and CEO of Statham Industries. Her boss.

Jonathan Statham is unlike any man she's met before. He's used to getting whatever he wants—whenever he wants, and he isn't about to take no for an answer.

Sexy, unpredictable, and charmingly clever, Mid Life Love is a story that will captivate you, entertain you, and force you to fall deeply in love with the characters.

And another one bites the dust. This was beyond bad. Older heroine younger hero is one of my favorite tropes but Mid Life Love is absolutely unacceptable; it didn't work out for me at all. I think I have been experiencing a serious book midlife crises when I was off Goodreads.
Mid Life Love is another Fifty rip-off. Is this ever going to stop??

There are two words that come to my mind. Uninspiring. Boring. Sorry, scratch that. Sex six words…

- TOTALLY uninspiring
- Boring
- Pathetic
- really crappy

Yeah, no biggie, I am so fine.

Asshole Jonathan's e-mail to…um…I-will-refrain-from-giving-her-an-unflattering-nickname Claire:

Claire,
I hope you're enjoying your I'm looking forward to spending part of it with you tonight.
--Your completely immoral and highly inappropriate Boss,

*facepalm*

Jonathan, I’m going to dedicate these two gifs to you and your primitive mind:

 photo i-just-threw-up-in-my-mouth-a-little-bit_zpsd0d778e7.gif

 photo tumblr_mg9e2rpUNm1s01oqmo1_500_zpseea873a4.gif

I felt my phone vibrating and opened the text. Jonathan: "Turn around. Now."
"Only if you agree to stop looking at me. I don't want other people sensing that we are sleeping together and I can't focus with you eyeing me…"
"I don't give a fuck what they think. TURN. AROUND."
"Pay attention to the presentation. You might learn something."
I clapped at the end of the first presentation and prepared to take notes on the second, but I received another text from him: "If you don't turn around within the next sixty seconds, I swear I will walk around this table and fuck you in front of everyone."
(…)
"Thirty seconds, Claire…"
I stifled a gasp and texted him back. "You wouldn't dare."
"Try me."

W.T.F.??? *gags* Honestly, I would have hit that asshole, and I have to question the "heroine's" intelligence. *major headdesk moment*

 photo tumblr_mg7gk2sXWv1ql876wo1_500_zpse92fe8f0.gif

Seriously, the heroine must have been incredibly desperate to jump that jerk's bones.

I can read a book that provides a lot of sex, however, when the smexy times don't knock my socks off then I need an interesting storyline and great characters to hold my interest, otherwise I end up irritated very quickly. Truth be told, the sex was darn awful, and if I had been in her shoes I would have preferred my healthy hand instead of his c@ck. Come to think of it, a dick with a dick fits perfectly. So, since the sex didn't do anything for me and the "storyline" was simply lame and the characters totally unappealing, you can guess that definitely sealed the deal for me.

Furthermore, the sPhone blue project was a disgrace and we all know that imitating is witless and embarrassing. Not cool.

The high average rating of 4.10 (as of July 15) boggles the mind. Whatever. I need to move on.

P.S. The book goes back to Amazon for a refund of my money.

Lovedddddddddddd this book... like too much~!

:D :D :D :D :D

Beautiful book, amazing pace, loved the drama; so wasn't over the top. Just right!
Loved the author's writing style!
Loved the story and everything ;D

I feel so happy! hehe
Was only smiling while I read this book.

She started crying. “I said I was sorry! I thought you were cheating on me when I set your Aston Martin on fire!”
I can’t believe I almost forgot about that...

LOL, Had the right amount of comedy too ;)

“So, last week I had sex at the zoo.” Helen put down her drink. “I think I could have lived without that one. I’m not sure if being pounded right in front of the giraffe exhibit was as exciting as I thought it would be.”

I really liked Sandra and Helen too! Crazy friends, everyone needs them :D

“Shhh...” He spun me around and kissed my lips. “You’re not allowed to talk tonight.” He slowly lifted my shirt over my head. “But you can scream as loud as you want to.”

I seriously loved Jonathan! Perfect about of crazy caveman with his possessive jelouse streak and omfg was he sexy and bloody adorably cute!!

People calling this a FSoG rip-off?! HELL NO THIS ISN'T.

Sooooo many things out of FSoG was copies from books released years earlier, just because that hit the jackpot doesn't mean few things weren't lifted from here and there.
Doesn't mean others have copied anything, so many bloody books have the same plot but the branch out differently.

Just because of the CEO/Office and email thing this is like Fifty Shades? Well 3/4th of the Harlequin heros are CEOs, I've read office romances before FSoG came and fucking hell 90% of the world's population mail each other and authors capture than in their novels. HOORAY

3.5--Frustrating--Stars!!

This book exhausted me. I really wanted to like it. And there were a lot of things I did like. This could have been a really good book. But the heroine, Claire, ruined it.

Claire is 40, she's been divorced for 4 years. It was a bad split...her husband Ryan was having an affair with her best friend Amanda.

So I get some of where Claire was coming from. How she might have been a bit hesitant to jump into a relationship with Jonathan.

Afterall, Jonathan is younger, 11 years to be exact. He's a billionaire. He's gorgeous. And he also happens to be her boss. I thought Jonathan was

This was a long book. Claire spent the first 50% pretty much keeping Jonathan at arms length. He wanted more, she didn't. She wouldn't admit her feelings for Jonathan. Over and over again, she had issues with their age difference.

The middle of the book was a little better. Claire wasn't as resistant. And thank goodness Claire had no problems having sex with Jonathan.

But then again, in the last 20-25%, stupid Claire returns. I was so angry with some of the decisions she made.

Jonathan was a lot more patient then I would have been, that's for damn sure. It's a shame really, because if it weren't for Claire I would have rated this book a lot higher.

So while the banter and hot sex couldn't save this one, I will read the next book and finish off the series. I'm hoping that Claire can redeem herself.

I quite enjoyed this one….

Ok, it’s been done to death, rich CEO, wanting to take control. Shouting “You’re Mine!”

Older woman – Jeez, she was only 40!

It was going along predictably but then got a bit more interesting towards the end.

4.25 'ML' Stars!

Whitney G. strikes again! I've been wanting to read this for a long time and I really REALLY enjoyed it! Damn, I love this author's books so much! I fell in love with her Reasonable Doubt series and dirty-mouthed Andrew and now she made me love Jonathan too (not as much as Andrew though! lol He still is my favorite!).

I’d never been kissed like he was kissing me; it felt like I was having sex—with my mouth.

Definitely, what I loved the most about Mid-Life Love is Jonathan Statham: he is so bossy, protective, dirty and extremely sexy alpha, and I totally dig that! But I have to say, Claire was just okay for me. She is quite annoying and her infantile behavior got on my nerves.. I does not affect me that she is older than Jonathan but she got a little annoying about that sometimes! Still, these two together have out-of-this-world chemistry so that surpassed my feelings towards the heroine.

“I’m going to fuck the shit out of you.”
“Stop...Stop talking...”
“Tell me you’re mine.” I could tell she was about to cum; she was biting down on her lip and shaking her head. “Tell me right now.”
“Yes...Yes...” She let go and fell back onto her pillows, “yours.”

See what I mean? The sex is SO HOT! However, I also felt the ending was a bit rushed (still good but rushed) but I see there is a second book so I am so excited to start it, RIGHT NOW! ;) I am giving Mid-Life Love a rating of 4.25 STARS, almost all because of Jonathan! lol Whitney writes the most amazing heroes <3 So if you want a romance full of sexy times and light drama, you should check this one out! I totally recommend it!

Although I enjoyed the book I had a big problem with Claire. I did feel bad for her. My mom was cheated on and I saw how difficult it was for her to pick up the pieces after- so I was sympathetic to her annoying insecurities. Plus, when things came together at the end it was more understandable to justify some of her actions. Even still though- I just really had a hard time liking her. She was so immature. I found the way she treated Jonathan was too much. I began to wonder why this great guy even wanted to be with her. The straw that broke the camel's back came towards the end though. Don't read this next bit if you plan to read this book.

I think the author is talented and I did find the book entertaining. The end just kind of ruined the book for me---> I don't want to worry anyone that wants to read this. This is a stand alone, there's no cliffy and it has a HEA. I didn't like the end for personal reasons. 2.5 Stars.

4.5 steamy stars

Typically during a mid-life crisis you either buy a expensive sport car or travel to Europe OR you find yourself a man that's 11 years younger and have some fun. I think I will choose option B!

Claire is a soon-to-be 40 year old divorced mother of two teenage girls. She hates her job and she's stuck in a rut. All of that changes when she meets sexy, savvy, rich and handsome Jonathan Statham, CEO for the company Claire works for.

First off, I didn't know what this read was about. Had I known the Heroine was older, I probably wouldn't have picked it up. HOWEVER, Mid-Life Love was a VERY adorable, happy, laugh-out-loud read and VERY VERY steamy. I just want to say, I like steam, but what I like even more is kinky steam and Whitney did not let me down.

I liked the beginning, you got to know Claire and her situation. Like I said, she's in a rut and you can relate to her. Although the reason why she is getting divorce isn't "light", it's a nice back story I like to read when I get to know the main characters. Her daughters act like typical teenagers, but I found them more hilarious than annoying. I enjoyed reading those parts. Again, I am a HUGE sucker for single moms.

It’s about me knowing better than to date the CEO in the first place, who is undoubtedly the most jealous and possessive man I’ve ever met.

The women I’d been with in the past were mostly a means to pass the time, a way to fill my days with something steady until I was bored or driven away by their erratic behavior. But Claire never bored me, never annoyed me – even when she was frustrating the shit out of me

A lot of story line is Claire and Johnathan trying to move forward in their relationship with external issues in the way, like age differences and Johnathan's many ex's. The thing I enjoyed most about Mid-Life Love was that it was really a Claire and Johnathan book. I LOVE these reads. I just want to read about the couple and I got that. I loved it when Claire was being insecure, I loved it when Johnathan was being assertive and I even loved the extra obstacles. Mid-Life Love is a bit long, so you get your money's worth, but really it's all about Johnathan for me.

Oh Johnathan. The many ways I want him... up down and all around. He's lickable, he's swoon worthy and for someone who is younger, he is 100% alpha male. I love him! Johnathan is a very likable Hero. You think being in a room filled with co-worker is going to stop him from having sex? Nope, as long as it's dark enough. I love a spicy steamy scene and Johnathan is all about that and more.

*** 1 star ***

I actually really liked the beginning. Her journal entry was really funny. And the first couple of chapters that fallowed were pretty good, too. But then we started to get to know our MCs better and I thought "Are we still going at it?"

After reading the first 10% of the book, I got the impression that the story will be about a woman having some sort of midlife crises, trying to figure out the next step in her life. It was obvious, that at some point during the story, she will meet a man and fall in love. I just thought that it will be more original than what I got.
She meets an eleven years younger guy. My first impression of him was pretty good, I liked his background story and his personality, at first. As I read further and more info about him was revealed, I went back to check the book description, because I felt like I missed the "If you liked fifty shades of grey, you will love..." tag. When I saw the release date, I realized that author was targeting specific audience, people that were still hangover after FSoG. It was so obvious it's not even funny.

Male MC:
- 28 year old self-made billionaire (his net worth is 9.5 billion)
- Stalker. He asks his employee to pull up the security tapes of the New Years eve party, to find her. He shows up randomly at places she is at (traveling agency, elevator, her house).
- Bossy/cocky/rapy. Never takes a no for an answer. I like when a man goes after a woman he likes, but this one crossed a line big time. He fake-schedules a meeting to trick her into "bumping into him". Finger-rapes her on a dance floor into going on a date with him. Fucks her in a room full of people, saying that if she makes a noise, lights will go on and everyone will see what she's doing.
- Buys her expensive gifts (diamond bracelet, fills her office with roses and balloons, pimps her car without asking her).
- Has a ginormous cock. Not just big, but HUGE. His dick is twice the size of her ex-husband's. Either her ex had a noodle, or this dude is really packing a monster in his pants.

Female MC:
- In her inner monologues she says that she is strong and independent woman, but her encounters with him shows otherwise. She constantly complains about how pushy and immoral he is (pursuing an employee, fucking her in a work place), that he is crossing a line that shouldn't be crossed. And yet, she falls for every one of his tricks. They crossed tons of lines together, yet, she talks about how wrong it would be to go on a date with him. Um, okay...

All this happened during the first 30-something-%! I can't take this shit no more. Moving on.

When I started realising I really, really wasn't enjoying this book I did what I usually don't do - I went on the book's Goodreads page, read a few reviews which confirmed what I suspected - this book was a cheap Fifty Shades of Grey knock off. That is a pretty low bar to crawl under! But to my horror I also discovered the books total page count was 460! I was a third of the way in (Note to self:must figure out how to get the page count back on my kindle!) and it was an easy decision for a DNF as some of the scenes were already repetitive, with a plot that was going nowhere..

How do I hate thee, book? Oh, let me count the ways!

I'm not only deleting this book off my kindle - I'm going to take it off my Amazon cloud.

3.5 stars!

Well I've seen pretty good reviews for this book and well I took my chances.

Let's just say that I was not blown away at all with this story.

Claire Gracen's life has fallen apart... Why? Because her husband has cheated on her with her best friend.

Everything she knows is broken.
Now Claire must start afresh..

Turning the big 40 Claire Meets the sexy Johanathan Statham- self made billionaire and CEO of Statham Industries.
He is 29 and happens to be the boss of the company she works for.

When Johanathan wants Claire, he is relentless in his pursuit for her.
He is smoking hot and sexy and Young!
Claire does whatever to turn him down but he knows she wants him even though she won't admit it!

They begin a sex only relationship and offcourse leads to more.

Mid life love is possible....

I don't know if its just me but I'm over the whole CEO controlling men.

We already had the powerful Christian Grey/ Damien Stark/Jesse Ward and James Cavendish.

Unfortunately for me I cannot add Johanathan to this list and there is no more room in my heart.

The only different thing about this book was- she is older and he is younger, however its still a copy cat.

2,5 estrellas.

So...I was on my way to selecting an older woman/younger man book because I was in a mood and my Kindle looks like my TBR mountain...stuffed to the gills. So I come across this book and I figured, what the hell? Not what I planned on reading but a detour doesn't hurt.

Hmm.

Okay...WTF?

I knew when the heroine mentioned "inner goddess", I should have just went to find the original book I was seeking. But no, apparently I am a glutton for punishment. Claire is a bubblehead who acted like half her age. In fact she could have been a stand in for her sixteen year old twin daughters. *purses lips* Oh the unnecessary games this bubblehead plays...

And Johnathan...the "hero" (I use the term in the loosest sense possible) he's an ass. He stalks, bullies and fucks boringly. And is possessive (which I love in my heroes but my problem is I've read better) I think he might have a mental disorder...deficit...something is not all there. He tries too hard to be an alpha hero. Well son, you don't get an invite to the big boys table from me. His tantrums always resulted in sex (mediocre mind you) and showing off how much money he had. I don't care about Maseratis/Bugattis/Ducati or Illuminati. If you talk a good game, are confident and not an asshole for most of time, I can stomach you.

But this guy was a piece of fucking work. Repulsive for a lot of the book, sometimes slightly erotic. But hands down neurotic.

And this story is nothing more than thinly veiled New Adult...because I will need to see Claire's birth certificate to make sure she's not a teenager.

Both he and Claire are asses. I think they deserve each other. I'm not even quoting the nonsense that was their...love(?)

The writing was...well it was a story with a beginning, middle and end. The transitions were bad. I got confused so much while reading because it jumped into different scenes. I don't loathe this...just can't believe I read so far. I'm teetering rating between 1-2 stars so I'll go with the higher of the two. It's not the worst I've read.

For fuck's sake...

It pains me so much when the story pullsme in with a fave hate/love trope, sexy, snarky banter and absolutely awesome steamy passionate sex scenes only to be annoyed to death with overbearingly dragged ending...

towards the end, I actually hated the heroine after I initially liked her...

Why the fuck would you let the potential fantastic story go the waste like that?!

Why?! The fuck why?!

I cant even give it a pure 3 stars cause I m disappointed, angry and well...fuuuuck

Why the fuck did you let it drag like that?!

It will remain an eternal and probably unanswered question...and it will haunt me for awhile...

Goddammit to hell...

To the heroine, Claire, this bitch-slap is for you:

 photo bitchslapped_zps6d747655.gif

I'm a huge fan of the older woman / younger man stories. Can't get enough of them really. So when one of my GR friends pointed this out, I was giddy. However, with that said, I'm kinda sad that I didn't like it as much. To be frank, I couldn't get over the annoying heroine. The Hero, however, is COMPLETELY swoon-worthy. Loved Jonathan! He made the story worthwhile. He was sexy, sweet, possessive and just HOT. How he never gave up on her, is a complete miracle. Claire was constantly battling her insecurities, especially their age difference. She continuously turns him down, while he incessantly pursues her. Why? I still don't know. I know she's gorgeous and all, and is different from the women he's previously dated, but I seriously didn't get it. It seemed a little forced to be honest.

**Sigh** Only in books.

In real life, she would've been dumped and left. No one deserved that kind of rejection over and over again. Plus! How could he be okay with keeping their relationship a secret? For the majority of the book, she kept wanting it between just them, no matter how much he wanted to show the world how proud he was to have her as his. Really, Claire? Really? Yea. You totally deserved to be bitch-slapped.

Like I said, I wished I had liked this more. It had so much potential, but the heroine completely ruined it for me.

Wow. A different romantic suspense story. Jonathan is 28, gorgeous, a billionaire, brilliant, and sweet. Claire is 39-40, divorced, with twin daughters, heartbroken over her now ex husbands cheating and also brilliant. Yes, they start a relationship. Jonathan pursues Claire...and keeps pursuing her. He doesn't care about her age. She does. Will Claire let the age difference get in the way? Will Jonathan finally get tired of Claire's insecurities?

Jonathan is absolutely adorable. He's so sweet, romantic, and funny. Claire is an excellent example of an older, divorced, heartbroken, woman. Her pain over her divorce and her insecurities are so realistic. Sometimes women can be their own worst enemy, as Claire is. Still, I love her. Despite the countless times I just wanted to tell her "get over yourself" and smack her. Claire's a wonderful woman who doesn't realize it. How many women honestly look in the mirror and think "I'm great"? Probably not many. Claire's romance with Jonathan is a great reminder for us women to stop thinking so much! :) Have fun!

The writing is superb. A few surprises are in store. The ending is PURRFECT! I love it.

Yes. :)

Mid Love Life is one of those books that will make you happy, the story has the perfect ratio of romance, steaminess and humor.

Claire is a forty year old woman who's trying to get over a very bad divorce. She was married to her high school sweetheart for fourteen years and this man was "it" for her, Ryan and their twin daughters were Claire's vision of the perfect life, until she finds out that her husband and her best friend had been having an affair behind her back and the bitch was now pregnant. Unable to move pass the betrayal Claire moves away to San Francisco to start her life over. Ready to start dating again, she meets a handsome and sexy but too-young-for her man in the grocery store, and he is determine to take her out on a date, turns out this guy is Jonathan Statham the CEO and founder of a multibillion dollar computer company, and also her boss.

Jonathan is twenty eight and Claire is forty, but he doesn't care, he thinks she is the sexiest most beautiful woman he's ever seen and he wants her, but Claire is not so sure, even though she is very attracted to him, she can't get pass the age difference and coming from a horrible breakup she is very guarded. Jonathan will stop at nothing to woo Claire, he is so dreamy and romantic that makes it impossible not to fall in love with the guy; he is just perfect, in fact a bit too perfect at times, and some might see this as little unrealistic, but it made me swoon and day dream *sigh and I loved it. The character of Claire was extremely relatable, she is a woman who cares for her girls more than anything, she has a lot of insecurities, but doesn't take crap from anybody.

I had an awesome time reading this novel, and I enjoyed the writing style of this author tremendously, in fact I'm going to read another one of her books next (Take Two) because this type of sweet and sexy books just make my life better, I highly recommend this one!

PS. there was a part of the story (the black moment) were I kept thinking about Christina Aguilera's new song call Just a fool, and I think it was perfect for Claire and Jonathan, so check it out!

No sé si 3* o 3,5*.

I'm just not feeling Claire. I'm loving Jonathan, but honestly I don't understand why he keeps putting up with Claire's shitty treatment. She's negative, pissy, and carrying way too much baggage from the past. Move on Jonathan. Your time is better spent elsewhere.

Claire was one of the worst heroines ever. I really mean it. She was giving me practically the whole book a very hard time

Yes she is forty, a divorcée, still heart broken (the end of her marriage was really painful),
But she really needs to move on after 4 years of being divorced.

And there is Jonathan, CEO of Claire firm, billionaire and only 11 years younger than her. I could understand Clairs insecurities in the beginning when Jonathan showed interest in her.
And it was totally ok of her to be careful at the beginning. But after a while it was just enough

She constantly felt insecure about her relationship and future with Jonathan even though he NEVER gave her a reason to be. He treated her like a princess.
Jonathan was just perfect.

He had a really hard childhood and worked very hard to build up his own firm. I liked Claire a lot more in the middle of the book because she finally admitted to have some feeling for him and was less stubborn. But in the last 20-25% I just wanted to hurt her badly.

I hope that Claire will get her shit together in book 2.
And if not

Give me a read about forty-somethings and I'm in, it's such a tangible, refreshing context for me. I felt totally engaged with MID LIFE LOVE because it also included a favourite setting of mine....office romance. This book is about a 40 year old divorcee who has lost herself in her heartache of the last 4 years. Claire is incredulous at the attentions of Jonathan Statham, her 28 year old boss and CEO of the company. She cannot understand his attraction to her and thwarts each of his approaches.

This book is rich with fabulous side characters in Claire's daughters, they made me laugh and brought such tangibility to the storyline. I never felt like I knew where the story was going and this was such fun to devour. The many twists and turns kept me hooked even though I felt the last 5% was rushed. All the characters were well developed and the writing just flowed. I need more from these two and I hope my desire is fulfilled.

Gitte: So we have a new one-click Author don’t we Jenny, and it’s this Lady right here. Her writing is fun, flirty, sexy and emotional. Her characters are brilliantly written; her storylines are addictive and very hot! I have to say Whitney Gracia Williams, excels at writing not only a fantastic male character but also the male POV.

“It’s going to be so fucking good that you’re going to want me to be your last.” – Jonathan

Her stories are a fabulous indulgence that you resent having to put down for anything. The passion is scorching and the emotion and romance is evocative. I absolutely love this Author! I want to hug her for bringing Jonathan into my life because wow, this man is beyond LUSH, he’s everything I want in a book boyfriend and more!!

“To the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met: Give me a chance to show you how great we could be together – Jonathan”

Jenny:
Yep, no doubt about it Gitte, Whitney G will be a 1click for us from now on! We were certainly asking ourselves where this author had been all our bookie lives? Her stories are sheer joy, her writing is first class and Whitney Gracia Williams sure does have a knack for telling an entertaining story with pizazz and fun and her male POV’s are spot on. I love her humour, her characters and boy did she have my Kindle steaming up. Wowsers!

“Careful, Claire. I’m easily aroused by sarcasm.” – Jonathan

Yet as you said Gitte, in no way does the humour, steam and passion injected into her stories detract from the pure emotion or the warmth of the characters. Do not get me going about one Mr Jonathan Statham!! Oh my, what a man! Loved him. Could he possibly be more perfect? I really don’t think so.

Gitte: Mid Life Love was a really sweet second chance romance interwoven with scorching passion and real heart-breaking issues. I laughed, I cried and even had to go sit in the freezer a few times. I loved Jonathan all the way through this story and couldn’t get enough of him, his childhood broke my heart, his antics in the bedroom setting me on fire. As for Claire, well, even though she frustrated me and annoyed me a few times. I did understand her concerns, lack of confidence and insecurities. She’d faced one of the ultimate betrayals and suffered such tragedy, bless her.

“I’ve never been this drawn to a woman in my life. I’m not hung up on your age at all. You are. All I see is a beautiful and intriguing woman who is hell bent on frustrating the shit out of me.” – Jonathan

I can imagine many aspects of this story are true to life, which is what made me connect so much, though I’ve never come across the perfection that is Jonathan. Sure, he was a bit over the top at times with his possessiveness, his extravagance and some of the things he managed to do were pretty unbelievable. But wow, this guy sure knows how to treat a woman in every aspect, in every room, on a bridge, in a nightclub, in a museum, in a…well you get the drift I’m sure!!

“When I first saw you tonight I wanted to drag you out of here, drive you home, and fuck you in every room of my house for the rest of the weekend.” – Jonathan

However, there’s one thing that I wish hadn’t been in the story, it felt wrong and unnecessary. It created a scenario that had me absolutely livid with Claire. LIVID……I was cursing her and wanting to ask her why and how the hell could she?!

“You really need to start dating again.” – Sandra
“I will, I will – only men that are my age or a little older though.” – Claire

GAH….Jenny, how long did we have this discussion on the phone right?!

Jenny: Hmmmm yes….. First up, I thoroughly enjoyed this story between an older woman and a younger man and Whitney Gracia Williams really did bring the insecurities felt by the pragmatic Claire to the forefront. I felt everything with her and felt as though I understood her. I’m sure her situation would resonate with a lot of women. There were certainly times she frustrated me and tested my patience, but like you, I could sympathise with her predicament. It would be extremely difficult to open yourself up, to move on and learn to trust again, let alone commit to a relationship when you’ve experienced the hurt and betrayal that Claire did.

‘I don’t want to hear any bullshit about how “forgiveness” helps you sleep better at night” because that’s not true.” (My seven layer mattress is amazing) – Claire

It would take a lot of resolve to trust again and like Claire, your natural instinct, when faced with the desires of such a man as Jonathan, would be to expect for something to go wrong and so her trepidation is warranted, though she did put Jonathan through the wringer!

‘His silence was the loudest answer he’d given me all night. His lack of words unravelled me and forced me to break down right in front of him.’ – Claire

As for Jonathan, it is testament to the man he became that he rose from such adversity to the success he eventually enjoyed. As for the way he treats a woman? Bloody hell, this guy had romance, passion and imagination waaay beyond anything you could think of. Sexy, dirty talking and sooo romantic billionaire…yep, new book boyfriend!

“Oh and Claire?”
“Yes?”
“I am the jealous type.”

Oh yes, THE scenario we discussed at length! I’ve tried to block it from my mind. I was loving…..absolutely loving this story and loving Claire. I wish with all my heart that aspect of the story hadn’t happened because like you, I felt it was unnecessary and it had my heart plummeting. It didn’t sit well with me at all and it left me seething at Claire.

Gitte & Jenny: Mid Life Love brings two damaged people together; Claire & Jonathan, both having experienced heart-break, betrayal and struggles before their paths cross. An eleven years age gap adds to our heroine’s lack of self-esteem and prevents her from truly appreciating and enjoying the romance and adoration thrown in her path. Jonathan is more mature and seems very established for his younger years. To him, what your heart feels overrules any ‘supposed obstacles’ thrown in its way. He knows what he wants and he plays every card in his hand to get just that.

We honestly loved this story with all our hearts, the writing is superb, as is the humour, the passion and the emotion.

“Are you going to promote every man that flirts with me?”
“No. I’ll fire whoever does it next.”

For us, the addition of an obstacle we can’t name for fear of spoiling the latter part of Claire & Jonathan’s journey, was unnecessary and we thought; how is this scenario even possible after the emotions involved? It’s too soon and unbelievable!! It took something away from the story for us and is reflected in our rating.

Jonathan took our hearts and we cried at the end our emotions were so high. We would have loved an epilogue or perhaps a not so rushed ending and we’re quite sad that the epilogue was left out of Mid Life Love. However, we cannot recommend this story nor this Author highly enough, like we said…we’ll be one-clicking Whitney Gracia Williams from here on in♥

“You’re mine….You’ll always be mine…” – Jonathan

I DO NOT read stories where there's cheating, especially if one of the main leads was married, because frankly, it scares me. I don't like seeing how fragile relationships are, how easily....breakable. How you can build your whole life around someone, but that someone may just one day get up and decide they don't want that life with you.

I still decided to read this book. The beginning of this book ? **AWESOME**
I don't think I have ever encountered a female lead in the NA/Romance genre that I can actually say has a no bullshit nature. I simply loved it.

That's about it though. After that it went downhill quickly.

Where did that woman from the first chapter go? You'd think being 40 would mean she's more matured and experienced ? Instead what I got was a woman who all but submitted to Jonathan's needs. All he had to say was jump! and voila, there you had it. Whenever he wanted to invade her privacy (read: wanted to get in her pants) in public, she all but let him do whatever he wanted even rather than standing firm on her decision. And she called herself strong and independent.

And Jonathan. Oh my goodness, what an asshole ! I do not find it gentlemanly when a guy doesn't know what NO means. It has been a long time since I read another Fifty Shades rip off hero. And I have to say the experience was NOT AT ALL PLEASANT. Hiding behind all the money and yachts and the one thousand different houses was a guy who threw his money to impress women and all but dominated every walks of their life. I am fucking sick of it. If it wasn't for all the positive reviews I read, my reaction would have been something like this :

description

And i get it, you meet someone new, there's attraction, and yes there's lots of sex. But you could have just told me that rather than boring me with over 150+ pages of NOTHING but pointless sex. Every time they both so much as saw each other,I would simply skip a few pages, not like there was any story over there.

I obviously didn't finish the book, but how much ever I read was WAY more than I should have.
