ZA #1

ZA: Run & Gun

Rate this book
The world has gone to hell in a hand basket with the dead shambling in the streets and attacking the living. Konrad and Jase have a Plan for the ZA, because, who doesn’t? Something that was just for fun is frighteningly real now. The married couple is separated by a hundred kilometers of zombie infested roadway. Konrad is at their condo and Jase is at the military base he’s assigned to. Neither one is going to let that stop them from reuniting with each other.

What follows is running and gunning that surpasses anything available in video games.

A little repetitive as the first bit re-hashed some of Konrad's story from the earlier prequel...but I definitely want to read the full-length one now! Gotta see how this rag-tag (and oddly prepared) bunch of military guys, survivalists and everyday people make it through the ZA!

Short, but oh so sweet...and gross, scary zombies.

Jase and his husband Konrad are an hour and half a part during a ZA(zombie apocalypse), but have a plan in place to get back together. It was part video game-ish and part romance. These guys met in the military and have been together over ten years, and still obviously adore each other. Unfortunately, Konrad has a disability and will need Jase to help him escape. Jase is an ideal hubby. He never once made Konrad feel like a liability, and treats him like the ex-military soldier that he now is. Even though they spend the first half trying to get back together, I still felt a connection with these guys and loved them both. I hope this becomes a series. I would love to see how this plays out.

Zombie Apocalypse from a Canadian viewpoint! Where have you been all my life?

We're injected mid ZA and our MCs are a married couple Konrad and Jason. Jason is a helicopter pilot still serving at CFB Trenton (in Ontario :)) while Konrad is a former military helicopter mechanic who forced to medically retire after having a mini-stroke. These men are smart. They set up an actual plan of attack of what to do in case of ZA, they prepared for it and they're sticking to it.

I like reading about smart characters like this making smart choices. I really enjoyed these men as a couple as well, they had some great chemistry together. Their history is only briefly touched on but I got a good understanding of who they were and how strongly they felt for each other. The majority of the story is spent trying to figure out how to get back to each other and I was rooting hard for them both. I think the author is continuing the series so I'll be checking back because I want to see what happens next.

Great little hidden gem of a M/M zombie apoc story.

One pilot, one mechanic and whole lot of zombies.

This short had a lot going on and the plot was packed enough with action to make it interesting without being rushed. The guys were great and I loved their relationship. Despite his disability Konrad kicked ass and Jase had faith in him. They were sweet.

A nice short read revolving around a zombie apocalypse and two lovers (both with military experience) trying to meet up together and get out the city and to a safer place. Overall not bad but I think it could have been a bit scarier.

Usually, I don't read books about zombies, they creep me out. Anyway this shorty is sweet, develops fast and is about two marines, who are crazy for each other. This was a good short read.
