Hirohiko Araki ( 荒木飛呂彦) is a Japanese manga artist. He left school before graduation from Miyagi University of Education.

He enjoys the baseball manga Kyojin No Hoshii (Star of the Giants); the video games Mario Kart and Bomberman; and likes Prince and other African-American singers, as well as jazz, rock, and rap.

He is a recipient the Tezuka Award for manga.

The history of the Stand power was by far the most interesting part of the book.

I didn’t really like the fights in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Golden Wind Vol. 7 because they were overcomplicated.

Araki’s genius is that he usually shows us powers that are unbeatable. This leads to the protagonists and readers to wait and see how Araki comes up with a solution to beat the villain they are fighting. I didn’t like how Metallica, Green Tea, and Sanctuary’s Stand Powers had to be explained to be cool.

Also The Boss’ dual personality was kind of annoying this volume ngl. I was expecting The Boss to be badass not a confused fighter in a near death situation.

Abbacchio’s death scene was impactful though. The art and writing for that scene was excellent.

I’ve already watched ahead in the anime so I know Volume 8 is hype as hell.

King Crimson vs Metallica is a wild one and explores the madness that is the Doppio/Diavolo shared soul, split personality duo. The concept of sharing a soul, being the same person technically but having such severely, distinct personalities rendering them into two different people is such a cool concept for a villain. Diavolo sharing parts of King Crimson with Doppio is sick, and I love that both of their respective personalities are equally mentally ill - Doppio being unwaveringly faithful to The Boss and pleasing him, while Diavolo is obsessed with maintaining secrecy to the effect of having complete power over the present and trying to rewrite the past. Not confirmed in this volume, but I’d even “analyze” Doppio as a necessity made entirely out of Diavolo’s need to hide himself. Didn’t think The Boss could compete with Dio or Kira, but he does. Araki writes incredible villains. (The Pillar Men were awesome too - just different.)

The fight with Metallica is sick - the metalbending/blood manipulation is a very cool ability. Jojo’s has its hands in every power systems cookie jar. The height of the fight passes and in just one panel, the target changes from each other to Abbaccio. I know the story is closing in on the end, and should expect the deaths, but I was still stunned at how fast it happened.

Mystery Colosseum man gives me hope for a returning character but have no idea who it would be because nobody really makes sense to return. Jotaro and Koichi already appeared in V1, and I don’t see Josuke tying into this. A Speedwagon or Zeppeli callback I hope?

Finally, Green Day and Oasis are legitimately terrifying villains, coupled with their Arkham Asylum-esque users. They really invoke a grossed-out feeling, which no Jojo’s part is complete without. Hell yeah.

Araki is back on track. This is a great volume with classic stand battles that push the heroes to the limits. Just when you think it’s over, there’s another twist. And the resolutions here are some of his most clever.

Cioccolata is a memorable psychopath and his Green Day/Green Tea is horrific. His gimp sidekick is also creepy.

Plus you have Metallica and Doppio.

A death occurs and it’s out of the blue in typical Araki fashion. No one is ever 100% safe and that adds to the suspense.

In Araki’s tome on manga, he describes the concept of always rising — the heroes should always be moving toward their goal, never backsliding. But a heroic death can fit this paradigm if it accomplishes something greater.

Araki focuses heavily on action (unlike say, Oda), but he handles the emotional moments deftly. Although brief and understated, they give the book its impact.

A mysterious stranger provides some historical explanation of the enchanted arrows that first appeared in part 3, and promises to tell the heroes more once they reach him in Rome.

On the way, there’re attacked by Cioccolata and Secco. Buccaratti is literally falling apart and is missing at volume’s close.

I honestly found this volume of the Jojo's Bizarre Adventure series to be somewhat dissapointing. I bought this volume because it had one of my favorite fights between the main villain of this part and a very powerful side villain but honestly the fight in the volume was pretty much dissapointing as it is very short compared to what is shown in the TV show. Other than the fight this volume adds a lot of development to the characters because of many important turning points in the story. This volume even though it was dissapointing at times, it was worth the read as I really enjoyed the dissapointing fight and the rest of the story progression. Overall I would this volume 4 stars out of 5 because of the flaws that I thought were too many to give it a 5/5 rating. Even with these flaws though I would definitely recommend this volume to one of my friends who also enjoy these type of readings.

I find it a little strange how there's barely any people around during the Oasis and Green Day stand battle- (ik realism isn't really the point of jjba but still-) aside from the few people at the beginning where the gang are still mostly in the boat and there's the few people affected by Gren Day- like wouldn't the destructive power of a stand such as Green Day warrant a major upset in Rome?? The seven page muda- as iconic as it is- seemed like a very overly exaggerated way to end a fight. Bit of a waste of pages too (unpopular opinion)

ALSO!! If it wasn't for fucking Narancia and Aerosmith.. Risotto could've killed the boss and all of this shit would be over- like c'mon- (but yet again I'm like the no.1 La Squadra fan and they had so much more to give in this part but unfortunately Araki didn't use them too much in the story aside from stand battles💔)

I have a lot of the same issues as I did with the previous volume. The action is hard to follow, the artwork is not as good as it used to be and the Stand powers are just all over the place and keep changing to fit with the story. This is no the lowest the series has been but it seems to be heading that way.
There was a section that I did find rather interesting which was the origins of the Stand powers. I'm hoping they follow up on this as it could take the series in a really fascinating direction.

Marginally better than the last volume I guess, but tbh I still wasn’t crazy about it. It’s decently enjoyable, but idk… the villain fights in these past couple volumes have been kinda underwhelming tbh.

Some of the plot points are kinda interesting, but tbh I think the pacing of the manga of Part 5 is just kinda sluggish. The anime improves on it a bit, but it’s kinda apparent here.

At least the long-ass muda was cool, lol. I also remember the ending of Part 5 being cool at least, so I’m hoping my memory serves me right.

Another really solid volume. If I could, I’d give it a 4.5/5 , because it’s nearly perfect. I didn’t have a moment while reading this, in which I was bored. We learn WAY MORE about the boss, making it far more interesting. The cast is way smarter by now, so it doesn’t take them ages to figure out enemy’s stand’s power 😆
Overall, a really fun read. It definitely sets up an opportunity for an excellent ending.

This was a great volume, as we approach the finish. The seven page MUDA was glorious, but more importantly, the fights were engaging for me again, and featured some stellar twists. Hooked to see what happens next.

Doppio vs. Risotto se lleva las palmas del volumen y casi que de la saga entera también. La mejor pelea con magnetismo que jamás verás en X-Men.

Voy a tener que escribir reseñas provisorias para un montón de tomos de Jojo's porque sigue habiendo iditoas que combinan la edición tankoubon con la bunko y hacen desastres con las series y reviews de cada tomo.
No recuerdo el por qué específico del punteaje a este tomo pero aguante Vento Aureo y toda la manga de asesinos y dementes que pululan por sus páginas.
Igual ojalá empiece a salir más rápido así tenemos Stone Ocean cuanto antes y Steel Ball Run a continuación.

Metallic vs Doppio, Abbachio’s death, seven page muda…as good as it gets. Another easy 5 stars for Golden Wind.

There was a good quote from Abbachio’s old police partner too: “Well…the result is not the only thing that matters. When people only seek results, they will be tempted to take shortcuts. And when they do, they can lose sight of the truth. And eventually, they’ll lose their motivation too.”
