Начало романа - в Венеции конца 30-х годов XVIII века, где почти девочкой героиня начинает свой путь талантливой артистки. С главы XXIII действие переносится в Богемские леса, в Чехию, в старый, окутанный таинственностью замок Великанов, куда Консуэло приезжает скромной учительницей пения и где ее ждет знакомство с молодым графом Альбертом Рудольштадтом, гениальным безумцем.

Прекрасная история о музыке, любви и утешении) 1-ая часть закончилась на очень интригующем моменте)

Classique pour une raison, j’aurai aimé qu’il se passe plus de choses - c’est lent et court à la fois. Mais je m’imagine à Venise, à dormir sur ses dalles blanches, et la lenteur a du sens. De très belles phrases et des paragraphes que j’ai dû relire pour comprendre.
L’impression que Consuelo parle vraiment qu’à partir de la seconde partie, mais c’est aussi son éveil. Évidemment emprunt des idées de son temps, de la bonté sans Dieu, de l’immoral sans Dieu mais avec Dieu aussi, la religion ne fait pas tout mais la raison non plus, et en même temps terriblement actuel pour ceci mais aussi dans sa manière de toucher les mêmes sensibilités face à l’exaspérance des hommes. Amélie qui parle de se jeter par les fenêtres parce que son oncle ne fait rien et qu’il préfère prier. Les personnages sont nuancés et cela fait tellement de bien à lire !
Et pourquoi faire le bien ? Il y a tout un monologue à la fin qui emporte dans une fièvre la lectrice ici présente, et George Sand finit sur un cliffhanger donc je vais être obligée de continuer.

Enfin!
How is it that I have waited this long for such a delicious read?! In rereading Proust recently, I realized that I have never read any of the George Sand he refers to as an important part of his childhood reading experience. His description of her style was what brought me to download this selection FOR FREE. I haven’t enjoyed anything so much in a while. A master of French prose — she deserves her place in the canon of 19th century prose. A timeless treat in any era.

Това не е типичната Жорж Санд, но си струва да се прочете, дори и само заради труда на преводача. Бележките под линия могат да бъдат издадени в отделна книга, която да е наръчник за ориентиране във времето.
