After reading The Subjugated Beast and Freak Museum I can't say I'm a fan of R. R. Ryan. Both books follow the same basic formula, early on the young female protagonist is captured or incapacitated and spends most of the book trying to escape her captivity. I just didn't find the premise all that thrilling. The ending was rather sudden, lacked closure, and left a lot of questions unanswered. The addition of the freaks made everything more interesting though. Whatever complaints I have I did enjoy reading it but I don't feel like rereading it nor do I feel the need to seek out more books by the author.
