Catalina, or “Cat” as her friends and enemies both lovingly and mockingly call her, continues her quest to free the human race from its dark Vampiric overlords. Just as she begins to make peace with all of the changes she has gone through, fate intervenes. Confused by love, driven by hate, Cat finds out that the lines of good and evil aren't as black and white as they once were, but deep and foreboding shades of gray. Her closest allies aren't what they seem, and those who were once her enemies may herald the salvation of the human race.
Heather Linn never had any notion of reinventing the Vampire. Her real intention was to give them back their bite. "They are not our friends, they are not our lovers, they are the embodiment of evil, the monsters under your bed, the demon in the shadows. They don't want to be us, they want to eat us"
I really enjoyed this story and the characters, ohhhh i think Jace will give Akia a run for his money, how Cat submits to his alphaness. I can't wait for the third book, I hope we hear soon I will have to re-read this series to get my fix.
Sigh. The first book in this series was really enjoyable, so I was excited to get to sit down and read the next book in the series. But now I kinda wish that I hadn't bothered. It's shocking how it has unravelled so quickly...
The main problem that I had is that a good 90% of the book is about Cat clumsily going from point A to point B, picking up new love interests, becoming sexually attracted to almost every other character that she interacts with, and repeating the same thoughts over and over again. I'm not a prude, but there is so little else happening in the plot, that I quickly became bored.
Also; I came to really dislike Cat - and as the book is mainly in first person, there's no escape. As Cat is merrily going back-and-forth between love interests, she simultaneously has jealousy attacks if they receive attention from other people. Maybe it's just me, but the fact that she can be selfish and continue to use people in this way, whilst she expects them to be doormats really winds me up.
In addiction to the way she uses people; she also gets into trouble though her own stupid temper tantrum, keeps on denying what is painfully obvious, makes life altering decisions for other people, and keeps secrets that she doesn't have rational reason to keep - just to fuel the next book?
The ending might save thing for book three, if I bother reading it [it's looking unlikely though]. However I have a feeling that it'll be a dream or some other cheap trick, so I'm not giving the future of this series much hope.
This is the second book in the Shattered Skies series. It picks up right where the last book left off. Cat is still hell bent on freeing the humans from the rule of the vampires. What she realizes in this war, is that the line may not be so easily drawn in the sand. Between love and hate, there is so much gray area. And to makes matters worse, her closest allies aren't who she thought they were. There are many secrets and some will break everyone.
What can I say...BRAVO TO HEATHER LINN!!! I loved the first book in the series, Beginnings End. I loved that it was different than most of the vampire novels I have read. There is a very distinct line between good and evil. At least, until Cat steps in. I can't help but love Akia. I know he is supposed to be the bad guy and all, but I cannot seem to help myself. I trust him more than I trust Cat's allies in this book. It breaks my heart what happens. I won't go into too much detail as I don't want to give it away.
We get introduced to Kira, Akia's twin sister. I am not sure what to think of her character. Really, I don't. I understand her feelings because of being Akia's twin, but this book borderlines on girl on girl and I just am not into that. But, still interesting none the less.
There are some very priceless moments in this book. I won't tell you which because, again, it will give it away. But, I will give a hint...in the cave during the hunt. When he walks in to see what is happening...Heather, you know what I am talking about...priceless!! (Not to mention the sweet little yumminess going on with the male prisoner).
I would highly recommend this book. But, you must read the first one first. You won't understand what it happening otherwise. Or how Cat dug such a whole for herself. I just have one question......
HEATHER??? WHY??? WHY DID YOU DO THAT AT THE END???? I was in tears!!!! I still am!!!!!
Cat and her “family” are on the run from the Dominus’, hiding wherever they can so they aren’t noticed. The life of Rogue Humans is not easy but It’s even harder when one of them hates you because you are in love with the enemy. Things on the run are going relatively smooth, the humans are staying under the radar. Dr…….. seeks help of some people he knows but Cat thinks can’t get worse but in walks the sister of the King who is also attracted to Cat.
Can Cat fulfuill the prophecy that was written by something a long time ago with the help of her friends? What will happen to the Rogue Humans & Cat? Will earth be forever under the rule of the Dominus’?
I read the first and second book back to back and I have to tell you that the second book is better than the first. Cat is thown into a situation where she meets someone who is so much like herself but because of this she has more unanswered concerns. The story line continues on where the first one left off and well won’t be disapointed in the direction this one goes. We meet new characters, we still love/hate old characters and there are some twists that confuse things a little more.
I really enjoyed this book, looking forward to reading the 2nd one night waves. Though Cat is a bit flakey for being the Heroine it is definitely a page turner..lots of action, romance of sorts..and what a twist about the family and their "father" I wonder if Cat meets up with Akia again..the chemistry between those two was hot! I give this 4 stars :)
This is something of a wild ride. Keeps twisting and turning with unexpected plot changes. Quite a few typos and the writing isn't the best but the author is certainly imaginative. I'll be reading Bk 3 in the series for sure. 3.75 stars.
Loved this book as well as book 1 of shafted skies. There are some editing issues that in no way take away from this wonderful and original storyline!! Adored reading it and can't wait for book three to come out!
Another great well written book that I couldn't put down. Now I wait for the next in suspense. I love how strong Cat is mandate to think about that ending but I'm hoping for relief. Things are starting to come together.
I enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the characters. I think that I had liked the first book better. My only complaint about the book is that there was not enough of Akia.
