A brand-new novella in the Ghost of Granny Apples Mystery series, featuring Emma Whitecastle’s daughter, Kelly—only available digitally…

Like mother, like daughter? Emma Whitecastle’s daughter Kelly just wants to live a normal life and pursue her studies at Harvard. But that’s not so easy when your mother is a famous medium who hosts a TV show on paranormal activity and when your frequent companion is a ghost named Granny Apples.

When reporter Tanisha Costello approaches her, Kelly is understandably skittish. But Tanisha isn’t after a story—she needs help. She’s being haunted. Though Kelly doesn’t want to acknowledge she has the same gift as her mother, Granny Apples steps in to get her to take the case and get the scoop on the spirit.

My first Sue Ann book so I don't know any of the characters.

Kelly is the daughter of Emma, a well known medium. Apparently Kelly has inherited the family gift.

She and Granny Apple, a ghost who is related to Kelly from way back, are approached by T, a young reporter who is being haunted by a ghost. This haunting is making T ill.

Kelly is reluctant to help as she is just developing her gift and isn't sure if T is maybe using this as an excuse to get a story on the famous Emma's daughter.

While visiting T in her loft, Kelly and Granny Apple find there really is a ghost.

The three of them work together to discover what is causing this haunting.

A delightful little story. I shall definitely be reading more by this author.

Excellent! The best between-the-books novella I've yet read! If you're a fan of Ms. Jaffarian's Granny Apple series, I can't recommend this enough.

This novella stars Emma's daughter, Kelly, while she's at school in Boston and centers around a ghost haunting her new friend, Tanisha. The ghost doesn't/can't communicate so a good deal of the story centers around trying to figure out who she is and what she needs/wants. As much as I love the Ghost of Granny Apple series as-is, I think I'd love the series being about Kelly and her friend Tanisha even more. This was an honest to goodness murder mystery, albeit a simplistic one. I was really sorry when it ended.

This was a great addition to the Granny Apples series. It’s kind of an in between books book. Having read the Granny Apples books before this novella I enjoyed the “information” I got from this. It’s nice to see Kelly and Granny’s relationship and how it works and is developing. It was a fast paced read but still had enough detail to be very enjoyable. I hope there’s more coming for these two!

It was interesting seeing Kelly interact with ghosts instead of Emma. I like Kelly and her new friend T, who came to her for help and would like to see more novellas with them in the main roles or maybe even a series of their own.

I don't quite get the point of this fairly short novella. Emma's daughter, Kelly, explores why a ghost is haunting her new friend Tanisha.
Kelly and Granny Apples sort it out in quick order - there's not much to it. Lazy writing and plotting.

Kelly Whitecastle has a special talent, she can see and speak to the dead. Sounds like an old movie, right? But Kelly can really do it and it isn’t surprising. Her mom, Emma Whitecastle, can also see and speak to the dead and Emma’s mother has that talent too. It must be a family trait.

One day when Kelly was in her local coffee shop, Tanisha Costello, a reporter, approaches her and says that she needs Kelly’s help. Tanisha had seen Kelly before and saw a spirit, or something like it, hovering around Kelly. The spirit is Kelly's great, great, great, great, (lots of greats) grandmother who everyone calls Granny Apples, Granny for short. Tanisha is somewhat able to see or sense ghosts but not the way Kelly can.

Kelly learns that Tanisha believes that a ghost is haunting her apartment and for some reason is making Tanisha feel sick. Granny explains that ghosts can’t physically harm the living but if the ghost is depressed the living person they’re haunting becomes depressed also. The ghost can get into the living person’s mind as a way of letting people know what is going on with the ghost.

At first Kelly didn’t want anything to do with Tanisha and the spirit haunting her but Granny persuaded, well, more like demanded, that Kelly help the young reporter out.

Tanisha and Kelly soon become friends and they discover that the ghost haunting Tanisha is a young woman who was murdered. Now all Kelly, Tanisha, and Granny have to do is to figure out who the ghost is, why she was murdered, and why is she haunting Tanisha. Not so hard, right?

I’m a huge fan of Sue Ann Jaffarian and especially love her Odelia Grey Mystery series but I enjoy her Granny Apples books too. Granny Apples is a feisty ghost who enjoys television and football. Of course she discovered all of this well after she died when she started hanging around with Kelly’s mom Emma and the rest of the family.

Granny also likes helping Emma and now Kelly, solve murders and, let’s face it, having a ghost who can check up on things on the “other side” is only a plus when solving a murder mystery.

“The Silent Ghost” is a short novella, maybe 100 pages. I easily got through it in a little over an hour. It was funny and held my interest. Kelly has been a mainstay in the Granny Apples Series and it’s kind of nice to see how she’s doing living alone while going to college, 3,000 miles away from her mom and home state of California. And now that her mom is teaching her how to deal with the ghosts might make some good backstories and more novellas for the series. Granny mostly hangs out with mom Emma but she does take a side trip to Kelly to make sure the girl is doing okay.

I’d like to see more of Kelly’s adventures and hope that Ms. Jaffarian brings Tanisha in as semi regular.

Nothing to be afraid of here, guys, all the ghosts we meet are friendly enough, sort of, and you won’t be kept up at night wondering if Granny, or your great, great, great, great, (whatever) grandmother is haunting you.

Any of Ms. Jaffarian's two series are cute cozy-like books, that will surely entertain you.

The Silent Ghost A Ghost of Granny Apples Mystery Novella by Sue Ann Jaffarian is another fun read in the Granny Apples Series. I love Granny Apples and this Novella is no exception.

This time Kelly Whitecastle, Emma's daughter, with the help of the ghost of her ancestor Granny has to help a girl, Tanisha, who is being bothered by a ghost. Kelly is off to college and since finding out that Kelly can see and hear ghosts her and Granny Apples spend time together. Granny and Kelly meet up with a Tanisha who is a reporter and at first Kelly thinks she is just trying to snoop into her family. When she asks Kelly for help Granny checks out her story and talks Kelly into helping. Will Kelly and Granny be able to help Tanisha before the ghost in Tanisha's apartment makes Tanisha anymore depressed or emotional?

I like that Kelly can also see and hear ghosts like her mother, even though she is fairly new to this, and it is fun to see how she interacts with Granny and the ghosts. This is a great and different dynamic than Emma and Granny and I like this story as much as the Granny Apples Books. Sue Ann Jaffarian draws you into the story and you feel the emotion and pain that Tanisha and the ghost in her apartment feel. Kelly is strong like her mother Emma in this story and I like that she is. This is a hit and a great addition to the Granny Apples Mysteries.

I would give this 5 stars and though I know it is a Novella between books, I still wanted more when I reached the end. It is a must read if you like ghosts, paranormal and suspense as well as a good mystery. I recommend you read this novella and all of the Granny Apples Mysteries.

This fun between the books e-novella focuses on Kelly, the daughter of the main character. She's just beginning to develop her gift of seeing and speaking to ghosts, but she gets involved in a mystery when a woman approaches her and asks if Kelly can figure out if the woman's condo is haunted. Will Kelly solve the mystery? I found it fun to see a minor character from the series take a larger role in this book, and Granny is a hoot as always. I just wish it had been longer.

This was an enjoyable novella by Sue Jaffarian in her Granny Apples series. This book features Kelly Whitecastle, the daughter of Emma Whitecastle, the usual series heroine. I like Emma as the main character better but this was an interesting look into Kelly's life away at college in Boston.

Kelly had recently discovered that she too has the gift of interaction with ghosts when Tanisha, a new friend, comes to her for help because she feels that she is being haunted. This book would have been better if it had more depth to it. The solution was rather glossed over, but it was still a good story.

This was a fun and fast paranormal mystery - I really enjoyed it. Tanisha Costello is a reporter who is having a problem - she has a ghost in her loft! While at the local coffee shop, she sees a young woman who also has a ghost near her, and finding out more, learns she's Emma Whitecastle, daughter of paranormal expert Emma Whitecastle. Tanisha tries to get Kelly to help her, but Kelly is very reluctant to get involved - but Granny Apples (her ghost) convinces her to help. Although very short, the characters were interesting as was the mystery!

The Silent Ghost was a quick and easy read. The main character, Kelly, along with Granny Apple help a reporter who is being haunted by a ghost. What happens next?? You'll have to read it for yourself. I love the Granny Apple series and this was a little tease until the next book comes out.

Novella in the Granny Apples series. Kelly is very surprised to be approached by another young woman who desperately wants help dealing with a ghost haunting her condo. Although the story is quite good, the ending seemed rushed.

This was an enjoyable novella for Jaffarian fans... Sort of a spin-off of the fun Granny Apples series. I hope we see more of Kelly and Tanisha in the series in the future!

Way too short. This could have been flushed out to a full novel. I like that the ghost talker gene is being passed down through the family. I enjoyed the read!

Short stories or novellas are not my favorites. This gets Emma's daughter Kelly into the family business.
