Korinne Anders had it all. She had the perfect job, the perfect house, and the perfect husband. When tragedy strikes, her world takes a devastating turn. Six months After losing her husband to a car accident, Korinne vows it to herself never to love again. If she doesn’t allow another man in her heart, then there’s no reason for her to feel the pain of loss. This plan seems to work, but is put to the test when Korinne’s best friend can’t stand to see her suffering any longer.
Korinne’s long-time friend, Jenna Perry, has an idea and it involves helping her friend find the spark of life in her soul no matter what it takes. Korinne didn’t know that Jenna’s plan meant bringing back a past love, a second chance with the man that Korinne had to leave in college, but always kept a place for in her heart.
When Galen Matthews learns of Korinne’s loss and that she’s finally moved back home, he wants nothing more than to be there for her. The love he felt for Korinne years ago has never left him, and now he’s given a second chance to not only mend her heart of her loss, but to also continue the love they shared in the past. Will his love and determination make her strong enough to give fate a second chance, or will her fear of losing another love make her run away?
What will Korinne do when she’s faced with a love so powerful that no matter what she does there’s nowhere to run from it?
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author L. P. Dover is a southern belle living in North Carolina with her husband and two beautiful girls. Before she began her literary journey she worked in periodontics, enjoying the wonderment of dental surgeries.
She loves to write, but she also loves to play golf, go on mountain hikes and white-water rafting, and has a passion for singing. Her two youngest fans expect a concert each and every night before bedtime, usually Christmas carols.
Dover has written countless novels in several different genres, but her favorite to write is romantic suspense. However, she has found a new passion in romantic comedy, especially involving sexy golfers. Who knew the sport could be so dirty and fun to write about.
2.8 Stars - As a fluffy cloud of happiness - with cute angels around...
Another freebie romance that I added the audio book to, for a very cheap price. I haven't read as many contemporary hetro romances in this style this last year and looked forward to listening to Love's Second Chance.
One of my updates was: - Wow, I just found The Sweetest Book EVER. It's such a cute story full with beautiful cozy people... - And that statement will I stand by for a while. (Over prove me, please!)
We first meet Korinne Anders (27) six months after losing her husband in a car accident, Korinne vows it to herself never to love again. If she doesn't allow another man in her heart, then there's no reason for her to feel the pain of loss.
Korinne's old friend, Jenna, has an idea and it involves helping her friend find the spark of life again by bringing back a past love, a second chance with the man that Korinne had to leave in college. One evening takes Jeanna her bestie Korrine to at a big fancy party to push together Jeanna's brother in law, Galen and her friend once again.
Galen Matthew (30) is by now CEO of his dead father's reputed architectural firm. He is very pleased to meet Korinne again after all these years. ~ Galen is very purposeful when he again has the chance to get the woman he once was so deeply in love with.
...She's recently widowed and still grieving deeply a dear husband - and the years have gone. Is there really a possible chance, a second time, for this once so in love and happy college lovers now years later?
I read this story by listening to the audio and it was well narrated with a big "but". In the first half of the book was the narrator (Nikki Diamond) reading way to fast. It felt as she was in a hurry and it really annoyed me. Otherwise, was it really good and her voice suited the story, and she tried —thankgod— not to do some ridiculous silly voices for the men, etc. The story also varies in POV in every other chapter.
This is not a bad m/f romance but it was too cute and too predictable for me. I'm sure some readers will love it. Do you want to read, or need, a feelgood CR filled with kind sweet people, beautiful souls, a great caring (rich) hero, a lovely heroine and pretty hot sex? Yes? - Then I can recommended this easily digestible second chance story.
It just sparkles and glistens beautifully (in white and pink) around this sugar sweet pastries.... Think; sunshine, happiness, contentment, compassion, and "Paradise" and you're close.

***1/2 Sweet Stars***1/2
If you are looking for a "low drama", "sweet" love story about 2nd chances, this is the book for you.
The book starts out with Korinne just losing her husband to a fatal car accident. She is devastated and promising that she will never love again because of the heart ache she is experiencing.
Galen has always been in love with Korinne since college. They dated for 2 years back then but she left to pursue more schooling for her career. This is Galen's 2nd chance with Korinne and he pulls out all the stops to win her love and trust that he won't leave her.
This is a heart-warming love story between Korinne and Galen.
Before I begin, I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.
I've always held a soft spot for second-chance romances. There's just something so sweet, so sentimental about them that I can't help but root for these kind of romances to happen. Of course, our heroine has to get through a world full of pain first.
"What do you do when you have nothing else to live for? When the world closes in on you and rips your soul apart, leaving you dying and aching on the inside. How does one regain the pieces that have been scattered to the wind?"
The day that Korinne lost her husband Carson was a horrifying nightmare. You can really feel how jagged Kori's pain is. No one should ever have to see the person they love die in front of them. After the ordeal, Kori retreats to her parents' house for 6 months before a chance encounter reunites her with her college sweetheart Galen.
"Galen was my first real love. He made me feel special and understood, and never once had pressured me or belittled me in any way. He was always supportive and full of life."
Galen Matthews really is that knight in shining armor, the prince in fairytales. He literally swept Kori off her feet and helps Kori face her painful past and move forward with their lives. It just tore my heart when I read tragedy after tragedy that Kori had to face. Galen never left her side and though he was put in a difficult position, he really understood and accepted Kori's love for Carson and was never bitter or jealous of it. All he wanted was room for him in Kori's heart too! Whoever said rude, dominating alpha-males beat the nice guys was totally wrong! Nice, supportive, and loving guys like Galen are the real winners and he won my heart over quicker than I expected.
Overall, this book was a sweet, delightful read about facing your past, moving forward with life, and finding a second chance at love. There was one issue I had with the book. I felt like the relationship all went too fast. I mean, for the first few chapters, I really felt how sharp, how raw Kori's pain was over losing Carson so it really took me by surprise when I read just how fast Kori got together with Galen. It just felt a bit rushed too me but Galen and Kori's story was just as beautiful so it's not a big deal. Either way, this was a heartwarming, sentimental second-chance love story that will surely tug at your heartstrings!
This is pretty much how I would describe this story. It is a beautiful romance that is made of dreams that takes your heart somewhere special and cradles it in fluffy things and gentle kisses. It is what a romance should be... NO! It is what everybody needs and most especially people who lost their faith in still living their life when an awful tragedy strikes.
This story is told from a H/h multiple POV and round out the story telling. It is perfect in that because this story is Second Chance at Love for both of the characters.
Korinne is newly widow who finally returns to her city after licking her wounds for 6 months after a tragic car accident takes her husband away from her. She is a broken down woman who can't take her past and goes as far as renting a different home to stay than the one she shared with her husband. She has quit her job after being a successful house designer and just lives day by day... no no no not living... just existing... UNTIL hurricane that is her BFF takes her to a party for her Second Chance at living and love.
Galen is a successful architect and owner of Architecture Firm that he inherited from his father... but when his little brother's wife brings his old love he sets everything aside to win his old College Love back.
This story is like a huge PUN for Second Chances and I love it. It is a cozy, feel good story with some tragedy and miracles mixed in. It is good friends and love that takes you to new places. So pick up this book when you are in need of some good old fashioned love story that is full of hope. OOOOh and have I mentioned HOT STEAMING SEX yet?!?!?!?!?! Yep plenty of that too!
This girl truly enjoyed this story and can not wait to read more of the series to find out who ELSE will get their chance at HEA.
I honestly truly enjoyed this book. It is such a joy to read sweet steamy romances minus the drama sometimes! I loved everything about this book. Galen was just the freaking sweetest guy! I am definitely going yo start on the next one in this series. So far liking this author ;)
LP Dover has done an excellent job with this contemporary book that lets you into the mind of a woman who has gone through a tragedy to end up finding herself, her life’s passion and LOVE again!!!! I LOVED LOVED LOVED this story! LP Dover has just blown me away with this story of love and learning to love again. I sat here and asked myself what would I do if I had been in Korrine’s place, after a tragedy like she went through could I have moved on, given love a second chance? This story teaches you that it is ok to move forward and open your heart again… I don’t know If I could have done what Korinne was able to do and open my heart again but I loved being with her on her ride to her Second Chance. Galen, a man who has NEVER stopped loving his college girlfriend after they separated when she moved to a new college, has a chance to have her again in his life and like any smart man he goes for it. This man is in love and even if he can only have his love as a friend he will take it. He is patient, kind and understanding to Korinne’s place in life. I totally fell in LOVE with This MAN!!!! This story was the story of a broken woman who moves back into the world of the living and has the friends to support her, encourage her and ahem, set her up with her college love. I have to say I absolutely loved Twink as a secondary character she was a good friend to Korinne also known as Ducky to her bestie Twink aka Jenna. I think we all need a Twink in our lives, that friend who may not always be there next door but always is there when she is needed. It also helps she is the Sister-in-law to Korinne’s College Love. Here is my Question to you all, Do you all have a Twink in your lives? I know I do even if it is a phone call when I need it my bestie is always there when I need her.
I Fell in love with this story and I HIGHLY recommend this book to the WORLD. Go grab your copy like YESTERDAY!!!!!!
Love's Second Chance was an absolute fabulous read. I fell in love with the characters rigth away. After L.P. had my heart in the pages and my tears spilling over the words, Korienne was so easy to like and feel sorry for. I just wanted to reach in and hug her.
But we soon move on...
Mr. Matthews...What can I say except,I liked him right off, within just a few pages. He is just one of those characters; Funny, witty, charming and of course very hot!!
With this book I was either crying, laughing or somewhere in between the entire time. This is one of those 'just one more chapter' books. I read this book in 2 days.
If you have read the synopsis, then you know Love's Second Chance is about Korinne Anders, who has lost her husband and flees to her mothers to cope. After a six month stent with the folks, she decides to try and get on with her life, although Love is not on the agenda. Enter stage left, Mr. Mathews, her blast from the past, and boy do the sparks fly!
So, basically the question is, can she get a second chance at love or is this hottie from past just a distraction from the pain?
I highly reccomend this book to anyone~ over the age of 18 mind you~
I have to say, as I am not generally a Contemporary Romance reader, this book was awesome! I gave this book 5 stars because it took me by surpise and stole my breath in so many places. I even yelled "Oh my God, No!" a time or two!
Great work L.P. Dover and thank you for taking me an unexpected ride, I truely enjoyed it!
Although, I love all of LP Dover's work, I was really hesitant with this one, not really sure why because once I got started I couldnt put the book down. I was blown away and in tears right from the beginning. LP Dover has a way with words that just pulls on your heart strings no matter the genre she is writing. This book was about handling loss and finding love when you least expect it and don't think you can any more.
Korrine has lost the love of her life and just cant go on or so she thought. Once her college boyfriend shows back up in to her life, he shows her that she can indeed move on, but it takes her time and she's not sure she can let Galen in just yet.
This book is full of spice and romance, you just cant get enough. Ill be happy when LP Dover releases the sequel, I want to read more of Korrine and Galen, they have a love like no other. The connection with these two characters is HOT!! I can definitely read about them forever, especially their bedroom or not so bedroom scenes!!
Heartwarming, sweet 2nd chance at love romance. You know when you want a known-HEA? This book takes you through a tragedy ... she loved her husband, Carson. He was a great guy and they were great together, but awful things happen. And Korinne showed grace and thoughtfulness and strength through a number of events. Her college boyfriend, Galen, comes back into her life ... and she's working her way through the grief and loss of Carson. Galen is just who she needs to put her life back together again. This book was well-written; the storyline is mostly predictable, and the characters are well developed.
I recommend this book when you're searching for a HEA with a little bit of angst.
First off let me just say there are some 'slam bam thank you ma'am' moments in this bookie that are HOT, so with that being said please make sure you're 18 and older when you read this. Now on to the important stuff in this book like Galen LOVED that boy right off, he's so sweet "I just wish you would have told me. There probably wasn't anything I could have done, but it would have been nice to know." I paused to let that sink in and then I asked, "So Jenna's playing matchmaker again?" He's romantic, well he knows just what to say to make your heart go pitter patter, "And I've missed you. I've thought about you everyday since you left." Now Korinne that girl she made me laugh she made me cry almost made me wet myself with some of the things that came out of her mouth, "How could I forget," I quipped sarcastically. "I do have a question though. Was she always a rude a** b****, or was that just me she was acting that way to? I swear I could sense some rivalry there, but I chose to ignore it for the sake of Carson." This book isn't all flowers, and unicorns there is some heart stopping moments when I wanted to kill Leslie because I was thinking 'WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!!' There were also times I wanted to skip a few pages just to see what was gonna happen (Come on everyone does it or wants to do it at some point with a book right?) So to sum up this book in four words would be, emotional, heart wrenching, lovable!
Korinne suffered a terrible loss when her husband Carson died after a car accident, After a few months of mourning she returns to Charlotte where she reconnects with Galen her college boyfriend. Not on purpose or anything shes a pretty classy broad.
They were each others first love, and each others one that got away. Neither one gave up on the other. You see the only reason they separated was because Korinne switched colleges. Ahh young love.
Obviously this book is about a second chance so all the stereo typical things happen. However thats not where the book ends. To be honest I thought once they overcome Korinnes grief that would be the end of the story. But it wasnt, theres sooo much more to the story.
There were some pretty steamy parts to Love's Second Chance and these moments completely took me by surprise. I really just wasnt expecting that like at all. I thought your typical chick lit and boy was I wrong. The story flowed nicely for me and I really found myself rooting for Galen. I greatly wonder how this series will progress. Perhaps a bit player will have their own story. I really cant wait :D
This is a really good book. It is an emotional book, in which, I could practically feel what the characters felt. This is not a long review, but I don't have much to say. It was amazing.
"I love you Korinne. I would have fought to the end of time to come back to you."
This book quite literally blew my mind! It blew my mind enough that I found it difficult to review! I was not expecting it at all! I tried so hard to slow down with it but I honestly couldn't! It was such an addicting book that made me want to read on and on! I knew who L.P. Dover was for ages before I read this book but I just hadn't had the chance to sit down and read her Forever Fae series so I was very excited when I heard about this Blog Tour and the chance to read her new contemporary! Love's Second Chance was a beautiful love story about moving on, accepting and surviving love! It was an exceptional book with absolutely no flaws! The plot was beautiful and it went at the perfect pace! I thoroughly enjoyed it! I tried so hard not to cry at the plot but I ended up crying the entire way through this book! It really hit my emotions hard and I could actually feel the pain that the characters went through! I normally cry at contemporary books but this one really made my cry! The plot also had quite a lot in it so it kept me very entertained! There were also twists in it as well! The characters were amazing! Korinne was the main character and she was beyond amazing! You saw her go through a lot at the beginning of this book and then you get to see her trying to let go and move on but you see her struggle and you can't help but feel sorry for her! She was an amazingly strong character and I simply adored her! Galen was the love interest of Korinne and he was hot! I loved how he always put Korinne first and he was so protective of her! He had also been through quite a lot so to finally see two broken characters mend each other really was amazing! I also loved all the secondary characters as well as they brought so much to the story! I loved that Love's Second Chances was written from Korinne and Galen's point of view as I think that this was definitely essential as there was so much emotion in this book that it needed to be divided! I also loved seeing the characters feelings develop for each other! The ending was beautiful! It completed the book up perfectly but I honestly wouldn't mind another book! The cover is also stunning! It is exactly how I pictured the characters while I was reading the book! Big thank you to Mrs Potter's Book Publicity Services for having me on the Blog Tour and to L.P. Dover for an ARC of Love's Second Chance!
i felt like i remembered liking this author way more than i apparently actually did...maybe i just liked the 5th book enough for all of them. Heroine:she was very nice...and utterly boring. Other than when she's being overdramatic she completely faded into the background and seemed to have no real depth Hero: Sort of the same thing except he had even less going for him since he didn't have a grief ridden background like her. Apart from his devotion to the heroine and being a workaholic he's a totally flat character. Romance/Plot: I liked these two together but i didn't really feel like this particular romance worked. One of my biggest issues with second chance books is when they just jump back into a relationship like the intervening years never happened...which is exactly what happened in this book. They tried being friends for about two days then jumped into relationship like she hadnt lost her husband in the past year and never taken the time to properly grieve. Which blew up when she realized she actually needed to do that. Much like the characters this story was also a little flat. For most of the book i was pretty bored. Around chapter 16 the story seemed to be wrapping up and i actually started to wonder what the rest of the book was gonna be about. This story was mostly fluffy clouds and sunshine with one sad little storm cloud as a hiccup on the way to HEA land. The author created no sense of drama...you knew everything would work out and she didn't even take the bad situation as far as she could which frankly would've made it more interesting. Sex scenes: They were ok but since i didn't connect with the characters they didn't really do much for me. Writing: The middle third was nice and flowed well. The first and last third though were really stiff and awkwardly written. I'd have to stop for several minutes to try and figure out a sentence and a few times i never managed to figure it out. Bottom line: i specifically remember loving number 5 but according to my reviews the other ones left a lot to be desired. I'll give number 2 a shot though since it's the only one i still haven't read
I really enjoyed this book. Even though I spent a good portion of it in turmoil and grief. Wow! What a great read. The title for this book sums it up entirely. If you lost someone can you love again? What if that love was always yours. This makes you look at love and second chances. I tell you honestly.. It makes you think. Alot!
The book introduces us to Korrine. When we meet her she is picking up the pieces of her broken, shattered heart. She is moving back into her life and learning to live life again. Her heart is healing, with the help of a wonderful family and friends. Her friend Jenna just happens to be awesome in this story. I loved no matter the distance and time. She was there for her, end of story. Such a nice add to the wonderful story. (Twink and Ducky)
Korrine crosses paths with Galen again, queue swooning and floating hearts. Are you seeing the hearts and swooning sounds? This leading man deserves them ladies & gents! Galen is beyond wonderful. He just happens to be an old boyfriend from college and still has feelings for Korrine. Galen is patient and so wonderful. He understands her and is willing to do the work. (Serious book boyfriend material) You need to read this story. The journey back from heartbreak and back into the living will touch you, break your heart and make you smile. I was captivated and lost in the story page after page. Then just when I thought all will be fine and happily ever after will come again. Wow. Whoa. What?!? I was gripping onto my kindle thinking this cannot be happening! I could have used a few choice words too. Just being honest:) Then another whoa, what.. Holy cow! LP Dover gave us a story that gives us a chance to think about life. What if and what would you do? Can you and would you take a chance at love again. I suggest you take a chance on this book, read it and fall in love! Go grab your copy today!
'You came into my life and saved me. Now it's time for me to save you. I'll be back, my love. You won't be able to get rid of me easily after this.'
MY OPINION
I got this book for free on my Kindle, and I'm very happy with it. Sometimes, you might expect a free book to not amount to much, but this was not the case with this one. The story was heartwrenching, the characters were kind, compassionate and realistic. Galen's character is incredible, he's so patient with Korinne, he doesn't push her into a relationship with him. He understands that she's been through a terrible ideal, and gives her time to let go.
THE AUTHOR
This book was written my L.P Dover, a relatively new Author, who mostly writes Paranormal Romance books. She has the ability to make you connect with her characters, feel their pain, and their joy, and for me, that's what every good Author should be able to do. I have another of her books on my Kindle, and I am looking forward to reading it.
Love’s Second Chance is the first book I have read by L.P. Dover. It is an amazing book with an emotional storyline. It is a very interesting read and it had my attention from the beginning. Korinne is a beautiful young woman who has gone through a terrible tragedy in her life. She has lost her husband in an accident and has been an emotional wreck. The memory of their lives together is too much for her to handle, so she leaves to go back to her hometown and stay with her parents for awhile. She needs some time to heal from the pain of losing someone special in her life. After staying with her parents for a while, Korinne moves back to North Carolina so she can start her life and career with a new beginning. Not long after moving back, her college best friend, Jenna, pays her a visit and invites her to a party. Korinne finds out that the party she is attending is thrown by her ex college boyfriend, Galen. It has been a very long time since she has seen him... Is she ready to see him again? Will Korinne be able to open her heart to love again? Galen is a very handsome young man who has taken over his father’s business. When he finds out his ex college girlfriend, Korinne recently moved back to town, he gets excited. He cannot wait to see her again... Has his love he shared with her in college ever gone away?. Korinne and Galen have a history together and this is where their journey begins. Will Korinne be able to accept Galen back in her life? Is her love for Galen still there? As I was reading, I felt the emotional rollercoaster that Korinne was going through with the loss of someone and the love for both men. L.P. Dover has done an awesome job writing Love’s Second Chance. I am really looking forward to reading more of her books in the future. I definitely recommend this book to my friends.
I'd rate the book a 3.5 if I could. The book was heartwarming and sad. It opens with tragedy and grief, but slowly walks you through a woman's journey to move on with her life, with the help of a good friend and her first love. And just as she manages to come to terms with her loss, and allow herself to love again, tragedy strikes again. However, this time around she's emotionally stronger and surrounded by people who support her in different ways that help drive her faith that this time things will work out.
I loved Galen and Korinne. Throughout the book he was strong and supportive, and just wanted to love and be with her. At first, she was afraid to take that leap for love again, but eventually came around to seeing that she is truly blessed when out of tragedy she not only gets a second chance at a future with a great man, but the hope of a family one day.
There were times when the book moved slowly for me, but I did enjoy reading the book. I find I do have a harder time reading sad stories, but I love happy endings and you will find that with this one. Was it the best book I've read? No, but there are times you'll cry and times where you may think it gets a little cheesy (yes, I said that) and times where you are looking for something more. At least I did, which was why I liked the book, but I didn't love it. Another reviewer said that the book was a little too perfect to be true, and that is why I deemed it cheesy, because I agree. Can things happen the way described, perhaps, but not in my reality. Does it make it a bad book, not at all, it just means that in my opinion not everyone will love it.
3.5 stars. It's the kind of book you read when you need something light and HEA. Although the book does sucker punch you in the prologue, it never keeps up with that pace. Kori lost her husband and its such an emotional scene. It'll break your heart. It had me all watery eyed.
Fast forward only 6 months and she's being set up with her ex boyfriend from college Galen. See Kori's BFF Jenna is married to Brady, Galen's brother. Galen and Kori dated in college until she transferred out.
I would've liked a look back into their relationship back in college to help me understand why they still loved each other so much after all the time has passed. And to help explain why she could fall so madly in love after Carsen had only passed 6 months prior. There weren't any "past" chapters to gain insight on Kori /Galen and Kori/Carsen. All you know is that Kori met Carsen at the new college. If I would have had more background I would've been able to understand their connection and fast commitment more. It would've been nice to get a dose of Carsen because he sounded great also. Did I mention he was a doctor? Although there is an accident in the book, it's still on the light side. You know your going to get a happy ending and the surprises aren't that "surprising". Theres definitely predictability in this one. It did have a bit of a cheesy factor but If your looking for a happy book short and sweet, this will do it.
When you love someone and they are torn from you, it feels like nothing will ever be the same. The process of breathing, walking, and talking no longer mean anything and you are just going through the motions.
Love’s Second Chance allows you to experience first hand what tragedy feels like. It allows you to have that shock of loss; the breathless moment when you realize that the person you love with every fiber of your being is gone forever. How do you move on, when you feel you lost the love of your life? How do you go through the motions everyone expects of you, when all you want to do is just cry and die too? You’re allowed to see the bonds of friendship and love when the people who love Korrine most, want her to get back on track with her life. In the process of moving on, they push her towards the arms of her first love, Galen.
You have to ask yourself, what would happen if you were clouded by tragedy and the guilt of finding happiness is scary for one to function? Would you like Korinne let love in again or would you push it away because for the fear of suffering again?
If you are ready for an emotional & dramatic romance, then you just have to read Love’s Second Chance but please have a box of tissues on hand because this will pull on your emotions and there is bound to be tears. I highly recommend this book and would love to hear your feedback once you are done.
Overall: This is the kind of book that romance movies come from. It was beautiful, raw, emotional and gripping. So I would first like to thank the author Ms. Dover for giving me a chance to read her book. (She's is amazing and you all should stop by her page and show her some love) She's has a incredible was a pulling you into her stories and making you feel what they are feeling, to see how they see things. Through the whole book I kept putting myself in Korinne's shoes and the emotions i felt were so raw and very hard at times. *Crying Moments- Be Warned Now* I couldn't begin to imagine what it would be like to loose someone so close to you like that and the author had a way of making me see what it would be like if I had gone through that. Ok, now I need to move onto the happier romance part. The love the was flowing off the pages felt so real and magical. It was beautiful to see the relationship bloom before my eyes because at times i wasn't sure if she was going to get scared a run. I swooned every time he whispered i love you or that he would always be there. Galen is definitely my new dream man.
Everyone Deserves a ‘Second Chance’ “Love’s Second Chance” really gets you thinking about extra chances or do-over’s in life. Do we deserve a shot at them? Do we take a risk and let someone back into our lives for that ‘second chance’? It may not always have to be the stereotypical answer of “fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.” This book will make you think—you may even surprise yourself and get a fresh take on the topic.
Enter the uniquely talented author L.P. Dover. She is known best for writing Paranormal Fantasy books (Forever Fae Series), but decided to take a chance on a more risqué genre. “Love’s Second Chance” is a raw, emotional, romantic, sexual, and such an incredibly gripping story. There were points throughout this book that I had to put it down and take a deep breath; mostly, to cry, blush, or to take it all in.
If you want a book to grab your heart, shatter it and take you on a sometimes painful yet beautiful journey, then this one is for you. “Love’s Second Chance” is a book that makes you want to skip a few pages—never due to boredom, but due to that need to know what happens next. I recommend this book for romance lovers and skeptics alike.
This was a lovely book but a tad too sweet. Korinne starts as a widow of 6 months, who went into a deep depression and had to move in with her parents. Now she's going back to her home city to pick up the threads of her old life, sans husband. Her friend Jenna is pushing for her to find romance. I can understand that Korinne needs to resume normal life and start working and all that, but 6 months is too soon to think about romance. Every person has their own timetable as to when it would be OK to fall in love after a bereavement or divorce, but no one else should dictate that. On the other hand, I found it weird that Korinne had a romance with Galen during college and they separated when she moved to a diff university, then when they find each other again, that love resumes as if time hadn't gone by? No hard feelings? Didn't they hear about phone calls and airplane flying to keep up with each other until they finished studies? If Korinne was so in love with Galen that she cried so much, how come she fell in love with Carson? All this didn't give credence of the story to me, but if you take away these factors and the medical misinformation regarding organ transplants, the story was very yummy.
I must say 1st and foremost I LOVED this book. Not Liked but LOVED! I enjoyed the story of Galen and Korrine. The idea of love coming around a second time in unforeseen circumstances appealed to me. This book had me from the 1st sentence. I loved the roller coaster of a ride and I am glad I took a chance on it. I live in the area the book is set in (Charlotte, NC) and loved that I could actually picture these characters here running around the area. I wish there was another book coming out.
There was a lot wrong with this book in terms of flow and storyline. I liked both characters but it moved too quickly and really hit peak at 50%. Everything beyond felt like extended epilogue and a second story arc. I struggled through some unrealistic dialogue as well.
I've heard good things about this author and have been looking forward to reading her work. I will continue to try more in the series and hold high hope for growth and improvement.
This was like reading a Hallmark movie/book. I know it was supposed to be an emotional book, but I didn't shed even one tear over it. I just couldn't care about these characters, not enough depth. I really felt like I wasted my time. It was going to be DNF but I have a hard time not finishing a book or bad movie. And there isn't a neurosurgeon, that I know, that does kidney transplants, also.
Not my kind of book at all. Too cheesy, no plot, the characters were boring and too perfect and the author used way to many adjetives/adverbs. Also, someone's in love with their thesaurus...
