Cassandra Woods is ready to give Dr. Chance Crawford her whole heart despite his past betrayal, but the road to forgiveness is not an easy one. Those close to her seem hell bent on keeping them apart and their doubts seep in like poison. And when someone reports Chance for inappropriate behavior with a student, Cassandra must find a way to keep it all together, just as everything begins falling apart...
The Test is part three of the His Dark Lessons series.
Ava Claire is a sucker for Alpha males and happily ever afters. When not putting pen to paper or glued to her Kindle, Ava likes road tripping, karaoke, and vintage fashion.
Part 3 of 3 (same review for all 3) I reread Part 1 and it was better the second time. More so, because I read all three parts straight through, which I highly recommend. It seems silly that the this novella was broken up. As it stands, the story felt rushed. I would have enjoyed a prequel about their time together "pre-Lola". I would have liked Chance's perspective on everything: his relationship, his need for dominance, his travels, his decision to come home, how it felt to see Cassandra again after three years. Without that, I can only judge what's here, and that feels abbreviated, like half a story. Note: bdsm ultra-lite.
Waw I was little disappointed on how the story ended I thought they were will be more romantic scenes, but I love the scene were Chance shows and expresses to Cass how much he loves her and kept thinking about her through the three years that they were not together.
Now this is it. Even though these books could be classed as short stories or novels, now hold as much content & give us enough to contest against full novels. This is a credit to the author.
We ride the gambit with these characters. We get it deal with more than the feelings & emotions of the lovers involved. Cassandra & Chance heat up our pages & now our hearts. As they are working their way to heal, we get to feel all the pain & concern from her mother & best friend.
They are so protective of her & working through their own fears for any further hurt. The author was able to convey so much in such a short amount of time without leaving us with a rushed feeling. Brilliant writing skill on show. The content was enough to tell us everything we need to know & we felt just enough to fall in love with them.
Forgiveness is a great strength to have, but being able to convince others that its ok to forgive & even convince the one asking for forgiveness. True love wins in the end. We get a HEA & it's beautiful. We see that the love was never gone & the author even help me the reader forgive & fall in love with them.
I loved this series. I fell in love with Ava Claire's writing when I read the His Submissive series. I also enjoyed the His Dark Lessons series. When I read The Student (part 1), I was like whoa. I immediately began The Teacher (part 2) right after, followed by The Test (part 3). I had to know how the story would end. I was rooting for Chance and Cassandra. And boy was that Chance HOT! Their relationship experienced a landslide of emotions and hurdles that I believe many can personally relate to. I enjoyed the story. I can't wait to read how it all began when Stolen (prequel) is released this month!!!
The final part in this short story about Cass and Chance.
This is a romantic story about forgiveness and whether you can forgive after having your heart smashed into bits. The fact that Chance is her teacher is secondary to their love story, but it is something they have to deal with. Chance thinking he is a Dominant is also not explored in this story, so all the sex scenes are just "normal sexy time" and there's nothing BDSM about them.
I loved this story. It was well written, well edited and I felt, despite it being quite short overall, Ms Claire packed a lot in.
Not the end I was expecting, it left me wondering if will be more or not. There was so much potential in the storyline but nothing was truly developed, every story or possible threat felt rushed. Not so many romantic moments either.
Still, I have to say the series left me wanting to read more of these characters, so it does capture your attention, I guess it just need more development.
So book 3 brings us to the end of Cassie and Chance's story. Again this was very well written, I like her writing voice but the whole theme of this being released over 3 books just let the whole storyline down. I lost some of the impetus from books 1 and 2 and I hope that Ava Claire will consider releasing this a complete book.
NOTE: nothing here in the BDSM lifestyle this is a romance. Chance at one time thought he was Dominant and wanted Cassie to submit, he very well maybe but this series of books isn't about the lifestyle this is about a couple meeting after a 3 yr breakup and getting back together romantically..no playroom time here...Carry on
Wow!!! That was amazing and intense! So happy Sophie changed her mind. So happy Cass's mother told her story and is going to give him a chance. Everything was amazing Ava, loved it! I hope there is another. This series was truly amazing! Must read! <3
