(This book is a novella and prequel to "The Undead Hunters" Series. "Pendant" the first full length novel of this series is due out April 5th, 2013.)
Road to Hell is a graphic depiction of love, hatred and the power of the heart, as we join Conrad in the sixteen hundreds, and follow him on his journey of self-destruction.
Once in love with his life, Conrad's world is rocked when he discovers his beloved is cheating on him. Using blood magic and power, Conrad seeks his revenge and pays the ultimate price in this brutal and violent tale of vengeance.
I was an IT professional for twenty years before deciding to lead a more creative life. I have always loved the idea of writing novels and had written four when Long Lost Song came along, demanding to be published.
A Store Manager during daylight hours, I try to write when I can. I am currently working on a high fantasy series, a cat detective series inspired on an idea from my daughter, and a few stand alone novels. I have a few books now completed in my back pocket!
Conrad has it all--a fine house, a beautiful wife, and a recently-awarded doctorate. Things couldn't look better.
Until he discovers that his wife is cheating on him...
With the use of his magical abilities, Conrad hunts the lovers down and wreaks vengeance on them both. He spends a little too much time enjoying the fruits (literally) of his labor; he is caught, arrested, tried, and is sentenced to burn at the stake.
So ends the life of a man whose passion and anger drove him to the outer limits of his sanity. Off to the gates of Hell with his soul.
But what happens if he decides he doesn't want to stay there?
This little novelette is pure, concentrated horror. Every page packs a gruesome punch; Mr. Ormsby has woven a tale that, although short, stays with the reader far beyond the little time it takes to read it. I would have to give warning that this is not a story for the squeamish.
But the narrative itself is brilliant--Conrad seems to be a cross between Dr. Frankenstein and Hannibal Lecter, his wife comes across as false and cool towards him from the very beginning, and the methods in which Conrad gets his revenge are roadkillishly detailed. Yes, I just made up a word. But it works!
"The Road to Hell" is a taste of what Mr. Ormsby's series, "The Undead Hunters" is all about. Those with a penchant towards horror would definitely get their fill from these books.
Conrad loves his wife and medicine. Conrad has been so focused on his medicine that he didn't notice what was happening in his marriage. Conrad notices a strange scent on his wife that is much like sex but he believes his wife to be faithful. Conrad exhibits magic powers but never used them before. How important will medicine continue to be for Conrad? Will Conrad catch his wife cheating? Will Conrad ever use his magic? Your answers await you in Road to Hell.
This power packed novella hits the ground running and doesn't stop either. I liked how the story was laid out. I thought the characters were creative and interesting too. What would the road to hell be for you? Only you can answer that by reading this novella.
This book is so freaking good!! I never expected that this book would be SO awesome. The difficulty of the language was a problem at first, because I haven't understood everything, but after the first 5 pages I were in it and I felt so much with Conrad (I don't know if this is good or not... :D). And it was like a rush of adrenaline I had while I read. I've read books of Bryan Smith and Edward Lee and this prequel is quite similar to the work of both authors. Ooohh I'm sooo looking forward to the full length novel "Pendant"!!!
This is really a must-read for every person who loves bloody, crazy and unbelievable stories!! <3
Totally disturbing. Horror is definitely not my genre. But it has good description that will make fans' stomach turn. The main character is believable in his insanity. The setting is intriguing because it intertwines medical discoveries with an age that still believes in magic. I wasn't completely sold on the pain the victims endured. The prose steps back from that and concentrates on the MC's descent into madness and literally into hell. I'm not sure where the story will go from this small bit. But I'm sure it will be horrifying. I recommend this book to those who truly revel in horror. Not recommended for anyone under age 18.
Who says it's not enough to have it all? Conrad does and is well on his way to moving up even more. That is until he finds his wife had been cheating on him with his boss. Can we say all Hell breaks loose? I would have to say this story was one of a kind, a first for me. It was so descriptive in parts that one should not read this book while eating or anywhere near a meal for that matter, and not before bed. Thank goodness I was warned ahead of time, before bed is my favorite time to read.
Magic, Science, Joy, Elation, Love, Adultery, Jealousy, Torture,Madness, Murder, and Horror. In a few pages all of these are covered. It is a short novel but the author is able to capture it all.
Set in the 1600 a rising doctor who mixes science with magic finds that his beloved has been with another man. He goes mad with jealousy and finds himself atop the burning embers.
This is a quick read but it has you thinking. I would like to read the next portion.
The main character Conrad dispenses justice in brutal fashion to his wife when he discovers she's been leading an adulterous double life behind his back. An entertaining short story with detailed focus on description, and I can't wait to find out next.
A story is set in the 1600's in a time where magic seems to be the norm. When you get past the graphic descriptions you get to the heart of the story. A man of whom loved his wife so much that seemed to drive a crazy mind to more insanity.
